Great review! I can't wait to read this one. I agree with what you said about the "damsel" trope. It sounds like it is believable here and not a major plot point or very out of character (cough... Heir of Fire 😂) so yay! I am going to read this one after Skyward for the buddy read!! Woo hoo
@ebnovels6 жыл бұрын
I hope you love it! Haha, and it’s definitely believable for the girl character to not know how to fight. It didn’t bother me one bit! 😆

I love anime and it was so easy for me to dive in this book. I love the shade towards SJMs heroines lol. Seriously I love Yumeko's quirky personality, doesnt feel pretentious and she isnt annoying.

Wow! Elliot this review makes me even more excited to go try this book right away! I love how the girl can shape shift into a fox. So part 1 is basically character building & how the world comes together? I actually like that cuz I wanna know how they get from one destination to another. From your awesome review; it seems like it's gonna be a good emotional rollercoaster & honestly I like that too lol. Im happy the girl displays some bravery. See this is why I like watching your channel because how you convey a story. I would love to see this as a anime series or TV show. Maybe you can star in it lol😅 Anyways this review gets a go & subscribe now from me cuz you truly showed a book review should be like. Have a bless one ❤

I really want it to be an anime!!! Or a manga :D Based on the books you’ve said you like, I think you’d enjoy this one. It just came out so it’s probably a little pricey, but if you find it on sale at any point or if it’s at a library near you I’d say give it a try 😊

I just saw this in chapters and was intrigued. I love Asian inspired and lots of character building and meandering. Totally going to pick it up soon. I love how we have to defend ourselves for thinking someone cannot naturally learn years of martial arts and weaponry in a few days.

Thanks for the review, Elle! I haven’t heard of this book before, but I’m totally interested now. I’d like to add a point regarding traveling story. I totally agree that it’s realistic for things on the way to be rather random as long as the characters still have the main mission in mind. That said, the author does have complete control over which happenings to tell and which to show in details, and sometimes they may end up showing too much unimportant stuff, which is usually my concerns when it comes to this type of stories. I think where the right balance is depends on the reader’s taste, so I’m curious to find out where I stand with this book. (As I typed this, I realized the irony of me being the one who forgives The Name of The Wind for showing way too much! Haha) Anyway, I love your point about there being multiple types of strength. To restrict women (or men) to just physical strength or any one type of strength for that matter is to have done a disservice to the entire group!
@ebnovels6 жыл бұрын
Yes to the strength part! Whoever you are, whatever you look like, bravery and strength come in different forms 💗 I think how you described the traveling elements was really well put. There was one part that maybe didn’t alter the main plot much, but I loved it. The resolution of that part was really nice, and it allowed us to see how the characters would act in that situation. But it does come down to preference :)

Travel is always difficult to pull off well. I'm not a writer but I am a Dungeon Master, and I've found conveying a sense passage of time without it feeling it is a waste time is difficult. So when an author succeeds at it, Huzzah!
