Such a good book. There were several fist-pumping moments for me, and the characters felt spot-on imo. ( I really felt for Rey and her parents too.) Definitely recommended!

Still don't get why Lando just hung out on Pasaana for over a DECADE because Ochi went there. Unless I missed something, I don't think he had any reason to believe his daughter's kidnapping was related to what happened to Rey & her parents, so staying there seems like a pretty big waste of time. The wiki says something about him becoming enamored with the Aki Aki people which, ok, fine, but it doesn't seem like Lando to just up & become a hermit.

Everyone in star wars who gets old becomes a hermit and reappears years later to help the new main characters. This is the way

Maybe old Jedis, yeah... but Lando out of all people? He doesn't seem like the type that would become a hermit lol

Just finished the book. It’s a couple of factors that cause him ti stay. During the book he spends time on a toxic desert planet with a character helping him & Luke, and Lando takes some time to mentally recover there after failing to stop Ochi from killing Rey’s parents. He finds a lot of peace from the desert landscape soothing a lot of the anguish he has from 6 years of failing to find Kadara. Then when him and Luke get tipped off and find Ochi’s ship on Pasaana, Lando gets that peaceful feeling again. Luke is busy and has to go back to the academy but Lando seems to A) just like Pasaana B) want to spend more time there looking for Rey and / or Ochi and C) use the planet as a base to continue looking for his daughter ( he tells Luke he hasn’t searched this quadrant yet and figures Pasaana would be a good base)
@CheeseRunner2 жыл бұрын
I remember him saying something like using Pasaana as a base for his search for Kadara and Rey's family. So he definitely left Pasaana every once in a while.

I finished the book recently and they do give us an answer although I also find it hard to believe he spent over a decade there. But he says he's going yes to stay there to find out if Ochi might still be around there but he also stays because he wants to inspect that whole Ombakond sector(wich he hadn't since then) in order to find out if his doughter might be around there. But knowing Lando and his struggle in this book I figured he ended up giving up and spent his years in some kind of penance there but also to reflect on everything and like the guy above said, be a hermit until the next generation comes up.

Enjoyed the summary!! I've kind of bounced away from reading any of the none "High Republic" books. Just wasn't finding the time and honestly, many of the were just okay at best (don't get me wrong, some were really good, but many were meh). As a complete aside, it really bums me out that the best actor to appear in the sequal trilogy (based on their other work) was Jodie Comer and she gets relagated to this nothing flashback role as Rey's mum 😒Having her in it more wouldn't have made much difference to the quality and cohesion of the three films, but I assume this makes it unlikely she'll appear in anything else Star Wars...

It’s a good read for sure but it’s basically damage control for the three disjointed sequels. Everyone has their own opinion of those three movies… mind is not favorable. This book helps you understand some of the important gaps those films left out.
