Learning more about the First Order's growing influence in the corporate sector and how Palpatine's influence continues to become stronger as a malevolent ghost via extremist charisma, not only with the Exegol Cultists but in simple homes is terrifying. She longs to reunite with her parents for the same reason. Then we find out that she’s a nobody. Nobody is going to tell her that she’s special or give her a place to belong, and she finally admits that. So episode 9 should have been about accepting her own worth and self actualizing. Instead, we find out that she actually is super important because of Palpatine Genes, her parents actually loved her, and she’s upset because her grandpa she never met was a bad dude. I started this book in June but got sidetracked. Just got back to it last week and finished this morning…and had a BLAST. The story itself was incredibly fun, but all the little connections to other material made it feel even more special. Thanks for breaking it down. You don’t know how hard it’s been skipping your book reviews and fun facts videos on all books since this and Brotherhood (which I still haven’t finished). Anyway, hope all is well. I was amused by the audiobook narrator's choice to read Beaumont Kin as using a French accent. I hated that character, was unhappy to find out he'd be in the book, then burst out laughing with his first dialogue. That said, to me, that the narrator had the good taste not to see "Rise," which tickled me. Yes, I'm petty.

The really nice touch of using the "their" pronoun for Revan, Alex you never disappoint
@Compucles2 жыл бұрын
"They" and "Their" are plural pronouns, so I hate when they're used in singular form. It just sounds wrong! If the gender is unknown or yet to be revealed, the character is gender fluid or nonbinary, or something else like that; just use "he/she" [or even "(s)he"] and "his/her." It's still pretty awkward but ultimately sounds better. Even "it" would be an improvement despite how dehumanizing it is.
@arcadia74592 жыл бұрын
@@Compucles Why would you use gendered pronouns for someone who doesn't fit into the gender binary? That would be like me calling someone who identified as male "her"/"she" If you don't like it, fine but have the common decency to respect how a person chooses to identify, and not what suits you best

@@Compucles "God send every one their heart's desire." - Much Ado About Nothing, 1598 "They" and "their" have been used a singular pronouns for hundreds of years. Oxford traces it back to at least the 14th century. I guarantee you, you use it all the time yourself without noticing. It's also not all that far-fetched to imagine that; :Great School," she was referring to, what Luke's ant droids were being shown constructing in the Book of Boba Fett, was meant to eventually become a Jedi Academy.
