They could have made the Sapphire weapon trial into a Gold Saucer Mini game that rewards mgp. Reusable and easy to add random objectives to as another GATE or mini game or whatever, instead of wasting such great assets into a single story mission.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do this in the future, and hope they do, if the reception is well received. A set of challenges and encounters designed around this mode would be great to have.

Keep in mind that in the 5.0 cycle we have had some *major system* changes, a lot of which adjusts existing content. NewGame+, the 2.X+ MSQ tweaks, *flying in 2.X zones*, etc. This is where I would guess "that money is getting spent." That being said, I do agree that it would be valuable to be able to redo some existing MSQ and SSQ fights. NewGame+ will give us that eventually. However, I do think there's room for an "arcade" in the Gold Saucer that lets you play through some of these old fights. Imagine a G-Warrior ("*G*-warrior", "*G*olden Saucer, coincidence?) arcade cabinet, where you could earn a little bit of MGP by redoing the instance or other similar instances. Maybe even a high score board where you can track how well you do in time vs. damage taken, etc. Seems like a fun little option. I definitely feel like this was a bit of a "reset" expansion in a lot of ways. "Reset" the balance of roles, "reset" the new player experience, etc.

You’re right. Know how much contents that they drop in each patch, always check the official website before playing new contents. There are tons of contents and QoL in game that a lot of players might have trouble with, especially in ARR to SB

I'd love to do the dancer instance again! The first one you get where you dance for the super rich guy. As someone who had 0 clue about how the job worked at that point- it would be super rewarding to go back

I HONESTLY thought the sapphire weapon was 8 man, but after soloing it I really liked it and was looking for EXTREME version....and found out I couldn't even do normal again omg.

As a player who has done the savage content and got my bis...I feel powerful for no reason...if i do any of the dungeons im synced and only farming the latest endgame fights do I really get the chance to be rewarded with my hard work by being the top dps aggro wise. People like me want to use the power i got ;-;

As a longtime player of FFXIV, I can fully agree with everything you've said. This game has generally been one you come back to every once in a while to eat up all the new shinies and then go off to play something else because all the best stuff only happens once. I really wish they could somehow allow you to use the storybook to revisit entire single player missions, synced down instead of just cutscenes.

Shiva Unreal is the proof that just by upsyncing old dungeons people liked in the past, could easily create more high level content (I mean not getting synced like lvl 36), while not having to spend as much time and effort as they do for new content. And also I think most people feel the same as you do for Saphire Weapon, we want to be able to do it again. (and I hope they will use this idea for more future content).

the only big difference their is was heavens on high dungeon that they trade for ARR quest modification. Its not necessarely a lack of content but its simply different . I just hope they ll do something special for 5.4

If Bozja replaced Deep Dungeon, but it's also Eureka, that means it's a content loss. The first step was just Poetics as well, whereas in SB there was an extra zone than we'll get this expansion, further content loss. Does anyone really think we'll get two Bozja zones in one patch to make up? I'll accept fewer dungeons with seasonal Unreal's since that's more interesting to me than dungeons ever could be. So, I'm not unreasonable. But I'm not going to simp and make up excuses for SE just because I like the game. It's inexcusable and never before have I wondered more, where *precisely* my 15 dollars a month is going. In terms of content, Stormblood was the best expansion the game had ever seen, but people say it isn't because they didn't like the story and Eureka. Likewise, people say Shadowbringers is the greatest expansion ever because of the MSQ, but when it comes to content, it's been trash, but people don't wanna say. More money, more resources, cut content? I'm sorry, but the math isn't adding up for me on the player side of things. At. All.

@@ExireHG its always depend on what youre saying about content . What do you want exactly ? if you count only dungeon and raid as content theirs still a lot more you can do . ShB added a lot of feature and ajustement to the crafter and gatherer with the rebuilt of ishgard and the diadem. We all have our priority about what we want but their is still stuff added even if its not our thing . What happen with SB was not necessarely about its lack of content but mainly because its didnt had a lot of new things only stuff redone for SB. we musnt forget that there's still 2 other majors patch coming until july 2021, so comparing 5 major patch of SB vs 3 of ShB make it not comparable for now .

I really really don't understand the concept of lvl 80 dungeon roullette... all dungeons lvl 80 should be expert roullette. Reduces the repetition, and with ilvl sync they keep the challenge where they want. I hope that sapphire weapon was a "Playtest" of a new game system for further mecha content.

The reason for lvl 80 dungeon roulette is so a fresh 80 can still have a roulette to start getting weekly tomes while farming the catch up gear. For people who are leveling alt classes it's pointless but for a player's first 80 it's nice to have.

Mid and high level players have been asking for repeatable content, actual difficult 4 man or even solo content seemingly forever. But nope, every time someone says that you got 6 people yelling at you for asking for too much from the devs.

@@Lafeon09 What they actually said was they were worried about the amount of stress savage/ultimate tier 4man content would place on the healer and how that would lead to harrasment lol. They also said the idea isn't off the table in a somewhat recent interview, but they're worried it's a vocal minority requesting the content and if people outside of a couple hundred would actually do said content if they put the dev resources into it but they were still gathering feedback on the matter. It would be fucking nice to have tho

I know the default response to this is to "just unsub when you run out of stuff to do lol," but I feel that's kind of ignoring the fact that ff14 is one of only a few subscription based MMOs left. Like if I'm paying $15 a month to access your game, and I can blow through an entire patch's worth of content in a single day, the lack of repeatable content makes me wonder why I'm still paying to access it. There are free to play games that have more repeatable content than ff14, and while I'm not asking for a WOW-style rng gearing system, it would be great if I had something to do everyday beyond leveling new jobs/ cosmetics/ doing the same old raids for the same old rewards for the millionth time. I love FF14, but the huge content drought this expansion is really starting to get to me.

I feel like this games model is more akin to the telltale games where they sell story episodes for a fixed price, or destiny 2 selling seasons individually. I’m not sure if the subscription model is still the right model for this game.

Covid has had a huge effect on game development across the board. Then factor in that a huge portion of their time and effort were put into things like revamping the level 1-50 experience, getting all the zones ready for flying, etc. And there are new story and side quests, dungeon/raid, beast tribe, all kinds of housing/furnishings, changes to golden saucer, unreal trials, battle system changes, dungeon/loot revamps, lots of pvp changes/adjustments, new items, new recipes, many quality of life improvements, new stuff for miners botanists and fishing, new mounts, minions and barding, new achievements, new categories for retainer ventures, a ton of resolved issues and bugs and a hundred other things that take time, resources and people to accomplish. As far as FFXIV not having content, that's laughable. I've been here since day one and FFXIV is the most complicated, deep, multifaceted mmo in existance. There still is hardly a day goes by I don't learn about some other aspect of the game I didn't know existed. I recently stopped playing WoW and compared to that game I feel I'm drowning in content and things to do. It's overwhelming really, the amount of things to do in this game compared to any other MMO. I feel like you guys are kind of like the WoW people that care nothing for most of the game, don't read quests or pay attention to the story, skip cutscenes and live only for endgame raiding (which in FFXIV is a small part of what the game has to offer), which they blow through in a few days and then bitch that there's nothing to do. They're not playing WoW or FFXIV for the game. They're playing and treating it kind of like a sport/competition and the game (skin) whether WoW or FFXIV doesn't matter. Go play Destiny or CoD I guess? You don't get to bitch about a lack of content when you skip most of it. This game's model is like any other sub mmo, like WoW, you get an expansion every couple of years with content patches in between, but unlike WoW there is a shit-ton of immersive things to do between content releases. The model is right for people that take advantage of all the game has to offer, which is most people that play it because that's the kind of people it draws for the most part. For the people that only want to burn through raids, just unsub and come back when a new one drops.

@@adamaj74 thats kinda dismissive of players like me who have nothing left to gain from that old expansion content after playing for over 6 years now. Old content does not justify a current sub in FFXIV. That being said if resources are an issue why don't they add more rewards to that older content? Nothing power related but more reasons to not sigh when getting it in a roulette? Minions, mounts, a rare glam token, etc you can only get by doing it synced? This is one example us vets have given the devs as a way to revitalize the huge backlog of content they have and we get screamed at for it. Hell even the devs got screamed at for this specific example when they used BLU as a way to make EVERY SINGLE 1-60 fight in the game relevant synced. There are many more examples of the same people defending the game now shitting on it in the past too. But you know go off I guess.

you recently made a video where you brought up this issue, but the way you phrased it in this video makes me understand your points a lot better. i dont play enough to run out of content, but you've explained what you would like, how it could feasibly work, and compared it to previous examples. even tho i personally wouldnt be interested in running these instances daily or anything, i can definitely see why it would be a good option to have

I honestly agree. As much as I loved Heroes’ Gauntlet, it became boring for me to grind rather quickly, as the dungeon itself tends to be lengthy, and while Puppets’ Bunker was a blast for me, within a day I find myself out of things I want to do. I was especially saddened that Shadowbringers Part 3 wasn’t added to NG+ on launch day, or even will be in 5.35 to the best of my knowledge. The story is wonderful but the one and done system takes so much away from the experience. I have to wonder as well where all the money is going, like you said there is so much room for extra fun content but they seem to neglect it or save it for later. Make no mistake, I love this game with all my heart and I wouldn’t trade it for any other MMO in the world, but the issues do exist, and I worry for the future of the game if the devs neglect them. However they do have an upstanding history of learning from their mistakes, albeit eventually, so I have faith they will get it right, and hopefully not take til the end of the expac to do so.

There are so many duties/instances id love to redo... Sapphire Weapon, the previous one with Cid's memory, onsal hakir in stormblood, all of that would be amazing if you could replay them, and new game + seems like a natural way to do them. (i also just wanna go back in and have different glams to take screenshots with)

Not sure where exactly I heard this but I was under the impression that SE had either reduced the XIV budget or not scaled it up in response to the games increase in scale. Personally I think it’s more that they’ve been focusing harder on early and mid game content and revamps with stuff like the ARR revamp and new game+

I believe it's more of they earned a lot from ShB but they are putting more into other stuff. Pretty sure that sweet initial launch hype funded the shit out of FF7R and will probably be the same case for FF7R part 2 with 6.0 within the next two years. And that's to be expected. Of course they'll use the money as they deem fit. While I wish they added some of that funding back into it, I don't think it's neccesarily just a money issue. I think they're moving a lot of devs and workers around for FF7R and the much expected "FF16." Even though Yoshida stated that he isn't working on FF16, I know a lot of his devs have been moved onto it.

I completely agree with you. One of my favorite solo instances was the fight with Zenos. I got to do it on Summoner - Now I that I've gotten more jobs leveled I would really like to be able to do that again. I really enjoyed the 5.2 fight as well. Addendum: I will say, though, that while SE sales and profits are up developers can't just expand a team and immediately add productivity. It takes time to hire new people and get them up to speed. And the problem with an MMORPG is that at some point they tend to focus on the next expansion - like Blizzard did when they gave up on Warlords of Draenor to focus on the much better Legion. Of course, Shadowbringers isn't WoD but still... Anyway, a well-thought comment and hopefully SE addresses this.

I get what you mean, I'll sometimes solo the Ala Mhigo dungeon unsynced just so I can 1v1 Zenos! Wish I had a similar option for Ran'jit and other cool solo duty fights.

As a person who found their love in mechas just couple weeks before, i enjoyed the shit out of the sapphire weapon instance, went back and took screenshots during the cutscene bits where we are in G-Weapon. I think they wouldnt pour resources into a one off thing so I am expecting similar mecha instances, but still the idea to make them replayable once a week for 50 tomestones is great, hell I wouldnt even care about the tomestones. Same with the 5.2 relic quest instance, i think that one can be made into some sort of weekly challenge for the upcoming relic steps, that instance was pretty to say the least

Thats the biggest problem with new game plus for me It only contains past patches and takes a long time to include what was currently released The sapphire weapon solo instance is the best solo instance by far......and we gotta wait like 1 or 2 more patches before it updates with it EDIT:also...not gonna lie,i miss hard mode dungeons Revisiting old dungeons with new additions to dungeon bosses and lore was really cool imo

I agree. There are many 1 and done stuff they can used as a weekly repeatable to get tomes or even to add mounts or glam stuff on. Like, why not make the job class instances once a week or daily roulette, but synced to our current level and the more you unlocked, the more you get on the rotation. Lots of these were fun. Lots of people ran through this stuff cause they did it with gear that was way above and never saw the "challenge" of it. Sync it and use it for funzies. So, much content they put out, but you can't do it again unless you go through the story again, but job quest line instances are worse because is not repeatable at all unless you have an alt.

The EX trials are the WoL recalling their fight with the primal/boss and the Minstrel conflating it to an insane degree, we can do that with Sapphire too.

the game has amazing dungeons from 72~79, i just feel like it's a waste to do them only during leveling or luckly if u get it during leveling roulette, there's also the scenarios from MSQ like u said(like they did with memoria misera ex), they could retrofit it for level 80 endgame content make it challenging, as for less content this expansion, i feel like they're doing a lot of work to fix the game under the hood to prepare it for the next years/expansions to come and add QoL changes for crafters/gatherers/leveling etc... unfortunately we get less content as a result

That leads into another issue that SE has, communication. If they are actually fixing the groundwork of this game's engine and that results in a lack of content then they should come out and goddamn say so. Now people are looking at all the things we got with Stormblood, which are missing in ShB, and wondering where their money went.

I would love to see expansion leveling dungeons also become level 80 dungeons, similar to wow introducing dungeons while leveling that stick around for the entire expansion

@@Incensement Generally, they are pretty forthcoming about this sort of thing, if this is the case. The Live Letters were designed specifically to try to address this kind of thing. I would question, however, whether there is something corporate side going on. This would not be something they would divulge in Live Letters or interviews, and would instead skirt around it. That's not just some cultural thing, either; pretty much any corporation would do the same. But I do agree; the whole "we will reduce some content to produce other higher quality content" thing isn't going to be accepted for long if that high quality content is not repeatable and/or greatly utilised elsewhere. The skeptic in me would almost think the department has been cut in funding, where really I would expect to see more investment in more staff and additional data centres for those regions which suffer without it.

@@NamesLynx This would actually be a very nice add. It would allow a larger pool of level 80 dungeons for the roulette. Maybe even expert roullette could be changed in such a way that it upsyncs dungeons instead of them always just going straight to the level 80 roulette. With Unreal Shiva it shows that this type of thing could be done to add just that little bit more variety.

I mean FF XIV is designed to be a seasonal game that you come to when content is released then leave, Yoshi P. said it many times already. I know you don't like when ppl say that to you but it is a thing, the game has no intention to keep you locked on to it forever, it wants you to keep comming back tough.

FFXIV NEEDS Mythic + or some equivalent. There are so many pros. 1.) It would add some much needed replay value as you said in the video. 2. It could help bridge the gap between people who think normal raids are too easy but don’t/want to do savage. 3.) It could also help break up the same gearing system they have been using since 2.0 ( capped tome/raid gear and capped tome is only upgraded a patch after it comes out for casuals. Gearing is the same thing every expansion/patch with no iteration. It’s time for something new

I think one of the biggest problems in ShB is how late Bozja content took to come out, which was amplified by the Covid related delays. All we have so far is, turning in 1k poetics for a wep. If the content slated for 5.35 had dropped prior to Covid, the content drought wouldn't have been as apparent since there was something to sink time into. Not to mention, Covid also gave people more free time than usual, for which we don't really have an outlet for at the moment.

Pretty much. I'm not sure how the work for Bozja is planned. But I'm not sure why they didn't just add it in with 5.3 from the get go to make up for lost time. I'm assuming the Covid issue screwed them up before they got a chance to really do anything.

It’s no surprise to anyone whose at least vaguely informed about the game, but this patch CURRENTLY, PRE ISHGARD/BOZJA had the most effort spent on the early to mid game and the least on the end game. The brush up to early game was desperately needed, but it’s deeply unfortunate that it happened to fall on the pandemic delay.

i can agree with your sentiment on there not being enough content to hold most at bay for no longer than a week if that. however there are factors which prevent our dear devs from accomplishing more than what they can do in a deadline of 3-4months those factors being that SE allocates more resources toward single player spin offs and solo titles and that the higher ups in corporate see FFXIV as it is now as "fine as is" because people do still keep subscribing an do keep logging in everyday/everyweek which in their eyes is successful. that coupled with the fact that their team is small and often some dev members end up getting assigned extra work which most of the time they end up using their off work hours to complete (which they do this gladly as they love their game as much as we do and want to see everyone happy.) and often times they just cant complete that extra stuff in time for it to be ready to give to us. that said i advocate strongly for replayability of things and think they should divert some resources and time into making a daily rewards system like most free to play mmos have to keep their playerbase shuffling in thru content and even things like login bonuses. that and PvP needs an overhaul and revamp as it is its just not fun or engaging.

Considering the huge upgrade in animation during the MSQ this patch, I will happily never see another Hildebrand quest if it means those resources are being used to make the rest of the game better.

The enterable hanger in terncliff where you can view the G-Warrior and ask questions about it makes me hope that G-Warrior will end up being a huge mechanic in the next expansion.

I do feel quite sad that we didn't get to conventionally fight saph weapon. Such a cool freaky design (looks like zurvan model) very organic. One of the reasons I've enjoyed ruby weapon so much (aside from how cool the design of it is) is the (for lack of better word) horror of this freak experiment and having the pilot bound to the core Al la Eva, some gundams etc (plus the fight is compelling from a story perspective as its literally telling story across the fight not since tsu ex have I seen something as effective in this regard) . The mech definetly cool but I feel was a wasted opportunity and especially wasted regula, like that feels so glossed over something they foreshadowed so long ago is like 'yeah it's there'. Hopefully maybe someday in the distant distant future we'll get a weapons ultimate.

As a story first type of player, I do agree with you. The level 80 roulettes I stopped doing after the second week of being level 80 because it got boring due to lack of variety. And I really wanted to do something more with the G-Warrior, too.

Memoria misera was the perfect example of what you're saying, and yet you manage to not mention it at all (you mentionned the dungeon potential without talking about what has already been done with the extreme trial). They do know how to create repeatable content from solo missions, and even though memoria misera's rewards weren't that exciting (reused armor look, no mount, no pet....), the fight itself was fun imo.

I agree %100, i'm very unhappy with how they handle repeatable content. FFXIV is my 1st and only MMO, been playing since 2.0 beta. The slow "relocating of resources" to other endeavors; (Diadem and Eureka) should be looked at more carefully. While i do agree in taking a chance in creating something new, i feel that sacrificing content that players are used to is not the way either.

I agree with all of your points. The game becomes more popular but the content keeps getting reduced per patch. I think they are working on another MMO or the team just has less staff nowadays due to other projects at Square Enix. Or maybe they just want to do the bare minimum and just fill up the online store with glams for the whales.

Considering FF7R part 2 and the critically awaited FF16... I wouldn't be surprised if the reason why FF14 is getting less despite being a success is that they're focusing more money and manpower into everything else. Which is fine, but man do I just want them to go all out in this game and not something else.

I have a feeling that the mech mini game is gonna be available as a special storyline or maybe even Bozja Liberation. Considering the fact that Cid is part of that story line I wouldn’t be surprised if what they meant by 1on1 Bosses in there is actually the G-Warrior instance with unique bosses. I don’t know, it’s just a guess but it’d be nice if they did bring it to Bozja.

Yup. I've been taking it slow this patch cuz of irl responsibilities and the only thing left for me to do is Shiva and the new ex Primal (which I got past add phase in my first grp). I don't really care much for Shiva since I beat it back in ARR. When they took out one dungeon, they could scale the level 71 to 79 dungeons to 80 with a min ilvl of 430 or even 450 and toss them in the expert roulette and get rid of the level 80 dungeon roulette.

I completely agree! It's clear the dev team put it's effort into the story. The MSQ in shadowbringers (i know it's not your thing) has been _great_. Everything from the animations to the voice acting to the writing and the music, really high quality stuff. I thought they nailed it top to bottom. Not to say it was perfect, ofc (I think plot armor is a bit too stronk), but it was really an amazing experince. That said, I only do the MSQ once - as great as it was, it's one and done. This side quest with the G-Gundam(Weapon) was actually really quite fantastic. They obviously put a lot of effort into those abilities and animations etc... it was really cool. Being a fan of some of the older gundam series, i really enjoyed it! Would love to do that again. I also agree that cid dream instance, was awesome! like it was excellent, would do that again too. Like you said, they could have easily adapted that into a dungeon. The dungeon content does come out a bit too slow, and i avoid doing expert for tomes to keep it from getting stale (I really enjoy the alliance raids, being a huge fan of NieR and FF Tactics). I'm still doing savage because I love raiding! However some content like Varis EX i felt went through too short a cycle. After a few days it was impossible to find a farm group to collect tomes. I guess in their defense we've gotten more trials and longer trials? Hades and Ruby had multiple phases, which is something they haven't done much before, but with Ruby my focus went to savage since it was release cocurrently. And yeah i am waiting for the relic stuff too, i feel that's running late. I also miss the deep dunegon, even though I might actually use it b/c i have my amaro already. Keep up the good work, see you on our server.

Reading in the comments later, i saw the huge brushup on the early game, which was needed. However that probably took dev time from the new content. While it's needed, it's probably too bad that it makes shadowbringers feel like a lighter expansion content wise (though really amazing story wise)

The whole game has been going stale for years. I've played since 1.23 and continued throughout the betas up until now, having a 1 month break during 4.2. Many vocal players have been saying the game's been getting stale since mid-HW, because it became quickly apparent that they are very tight on their formula and never or rarely want to deviate from it. ARR Extremes to this day are still the best in terms of mechanics, longevity and replayability- At least for their current patch cycle. Ifrit, Garuda and Titan had a weekly system where you could get an i90 weapon which meant there were 3 i90 weapons at end game (until they buffed T5 weapons to be i95), they dropped weapons and accessories and then later dropped mounts. Leviathan dropped upgradeable weapons going into Second Coil if you got lucky with a mirror (I did :3), which made him relevant from 2.2-2.4 because his weapon matched the base tome weapon at the time. They were farmed often because there were a lot of rewards to go for and it lasted. In 2.3 Ramuh's ring accessories were buffed up to BiS for some jobs making him relevant again for farming. It was really only 2.4 that changed the formula and getting any kind of BiS gear from a primal just vanished. This trend has continued until now- Yes, extreme primals/trials at the start of an expansion gives BiS gear but again, 2 weeks later it's dwarfed by normal mode gear and tome gear and then primal gear is once again left in the dust. Many of their reward/longevity solutions could be solved by making the gear relevant and instead of having 2 pathways, tome and savage, for BiS gear (disregarding weapons) have 3 or 4. EX trials/primals could be a 3rd path for accessories. Relic content could be a 3rd pathway towards BiS pieces for left gear and 24 man raids could have have their gear upgraded with the weekly coin. There's no reason that solo instanced content can't offer at least something other than a one and done deal, as Lynx said, weekly tomes would be great or heck even a belt/accessory akin to Proto-Ultima in HW. The lack of gearing options from SB has been so awful and uninspired that so many people get BiS then go, because again SE don't want to change their formula to bring players back. I honestly think as well that crafted gear should be released after the first 2-4 weeks of a new tier so that the previous BiS isn't irrelevant straight away. Just my 2 cents anyway. Edit: when I say Primal gear btw I just mean gear from Extremes... I'm used to extremes always being a primal from ARR so it's just a terminology that's stuck with me.

I agree with you except I would make a couple more changes to the gearing formula. The main issue is as you described. The only gear that matters is tome gear or raid gear and the more weekly gear that gets augmented the less raid gear matters (as well as the easier the fights become, turning once challenging encounters into jokes). Crafted accessories are BiS until you get raid clears because of penta-melding. Dungeon gear, save for Ultimate fights, are always just used for glamour or for company seals because the gearing process is also the catch-up mechanic. I don't ever get excited for dungeon drops because they are never relevant save for gearing up an alt. I think the easiest fix is just to keep the ability to augment weekly gear exclusive to savage so that people aren't getting the same item level without having step foot into it, and have EX fights also drop accessories that are the same item level as the weapon to offer a means of making the savage fights easier while still keeping the highest item level possible exclusive to savage raiding.

To be fair, this kind of solo instance is usually done first to see how it's received. If received well they will make something out of it trust me. Just like how they did the whole you get to play as an NPC. If that wasn't received well we wouldn't be getting more. But ever since we got to play Alphinaud and thought that was a cool idea, they have implemented it more and more as time went on.

I think that some content that was not put in yet was because there were MANY QoL content added in with 5.3. It isn't something that people who are looking for post 5.3 msq to do, but it is something for people who are just starting the game. Now I do agree that more content needs to be each patch and hoping that the QoL changes that are coming in are the cause. Meaning that once the bulk of QoL changes are finished we'll get more focus on new content over fixing old content.

Hopefully over time New Game+ will give us those options. I have a strong desire to replay through a lot of the Dark Knight questline, because sometimes you only want to do a particular part of the story after a fantasia.

You have a point. This expansion had no additional shiny, glowy weapons for Gunbreaker or Dancer and that was supposed to have been implemented along with the other weapons. This could be that they are behind in production due FFVII remake taking alot of development resources then and now. Little things add up to big delays and then when the Pandemic occurred all hell broke loose making it hard to catch up to fan expectations. Already patch 5.4 will have job reworks for Monk and other jobs and that raise expectations further. And then there is patch 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, etc. Still tho Yoshi P's diligence is undaunted and if this solo instance is requested enough then they will comply...... unless the world comes to an end, that is. And the msq will still be infinitely long!

It's not just the shiny crafted weapons. Stormblood shipped with weapons from Coil of Bahamut, PvP, PotD, all old tomestone weapons, all 3 tiers of Alexander and old primals for samurai and redmage. Gunbreaker and Dancer have maybe 15 weapons that aren't reskins of each other.

It's a priority issue I feel like, they put a lot of time into things like flying in ARR, reworking ARR, New Game +, crafting rework, Ishgardian whatever it's called. These are all great things but it's also left a lack of Shadowbringers content, which is frustrating.

My heart broke when I realized that this fight was done and over with and it wasn’t repeatable! 😭 I was really hoping and expecting to see if they were going to give us a trial or raid with the roles much like the first boss in Ulduar where they really didn’t matter and you got to ride around in bikes and mini tanks and shit and fight a boss! Man was I disappointed but I still loved it and had such a blast doing it!

One of the bigger problems with regards to repeatable content is a lack of a harder difficulty mode for the 24 man raids. For many players who complete savage, there is little reason to run them more than once. Not only that, after the first or second time through, it starts to feel very slow and hollow; mechanics come out one at a time and are pretty forgiving on failure. We could see a much greater interest and increased playability if they were to implement a system similar to Baldesion Arsenal where you only have a limited number of lives throughout the instance. Couple that with just a few more additional mechanics or combining existing mechanics and you'd have a really fun extra game mode that I think a lot of people would enjoy. It could also give out an extra minion/mount, some crafting mats, and maybe gear with 5 extra item levels or 1-3 extra materia slots. It really wouldn't take that much extra work to make something like this and it's a shame to see the 24 man raid content go stale so quickly as things are now.

It could be designed similar to Baldesion Arsenal, where the bosses really aren't that challenging, but you have only 1 life to work with. BA obviously wasn't for everyone, but it was a ton of fun for the people that did it. Higher difficulties are also not meant to be for people who turn off their brains.

I'll be optimistic. While we cant go back and replay this content, I believe the robot will be back and available to pilot again. The game already shown that it can run simulations, so we may get content or replaying content through simulations closer to the end of the expansion.

For once I agree with all the things you said. :) Every single thing they are adding is cool. But you only do it once... People complain about Blue Mage being a limited job, but that's not the issue with Blue Mage. The issue with it is that it doesn't have any replay value. It's true for every thing in the game.... I personally enjoy it because it allows me to play other games. But at the same time, it sucks for all of those who would like to spend more time in XIV.

While I agree that i wish we had more repeatable content, i think the sapphire weapon duty is just barely scratching the surface of what they plan to do. if they see ppl enjoyed doing something like that THAT much, they will probably make more quests/duties like it.

I don't have much to add besides agreeing. Compared to Stormblood, assuming trial, raid, dungeon, Ultimate, Eureka (Bozja), is released similarly, we come at a content loss come 5.55. No Deep Dungeon, one less 'Eureka zone', a few less dungeons, same amount of trials, raids, and Ultimate. It's an overall loss. QoL to craft/gather and ARR for new players is nice, but could have been add on's rather than trade offs. I will say that I don't mind a loss of dungeons as a trade for seasonal Unreal's, just because I find trial battles to be more engaging than dungeons ever could be, so I'm not totally unreasonable here. Still, I consider it an unbiasedly big problem and assuming that the next expansion will be bigger is naive. What I just elaborated on doesn't add to the conversation, just *factually* confirms it. I would like to add it'd be cool to see you throw in maybe some edits from your streams here on KZbin from first time reactions. I just think they're fun lol. Even though you skip cutscenes I still think it'd be cool to see your reactions to new fights on day 1. I thought the Nier raid was pretty damn sweet. Familiar mechanics, but animated in a way that I hadn't seen before, I loved it.

SE puts in so much effort into making amazing content that never gets enjoyed for more than a few minutes by anything other than the dumbest of people. Its fine for people who really like doing the same thing over and over for no reward to enjoy it, but it doesn't mean they aren't the lowest tier of "gamer" and that they are just stop-gap people that only are relevant in times of nothing significant happening. The second the next big mmo that's actually well-made and hits all the strides correctly, it will sweep the world larger than LoL/Fortnite have. A great many content creators for mmos just don't realize this or recognize it for some reason. I don't know if its that they're just stubborn or if they just don't have the knowledge/experience to draw proper conclusions, but they can't seem to conceptualize just how much of a low-point the last 10-14 years have been for mmos as a whole and how ready the market here is for a big well-made mmo. It will be among the fastest/biggest scenes that have ever existed. Until then, unfortunately, real gamers with real skills and extensive knowledge who voice opinions like ours will be continually ignored because reality currently does not confirm what we're stating just yet and those incapable of high levels of conceptualization will be unable to see the larger picture of what's happening here, and therefore refute us. It will take an Ashes of Creation or Cyberpunk major success to topple these current tier of games and make them understand just how bad they actually are and always have been. These companies and the pathetic "scenes" around their games that are really just echo chambers where only positive feedback is allowed need to get put in their place and that's only going to happen when the next REAL successful mmo shows up. This scene is still waiting.

I wish they would revamp the msq roulette too add instances/ msq dungeons. That away it is not always the same two all the time. I feel like that would solve alot of issues. maybe add an bonus of moogle tomes or something if you are an adventurer in need for it.

If the "Unreal" trials are a success, I hope Yoshi-P can figure out a way to have "Unreal" dungeons. It doesn't have to be every single one, either. Maybe make a seasonal expansion or even pick 1 or 2 from each x-pac that we can run through as level 80s. I understand that old content isn't truly dead because of level syncing, but it feels bad playing as a lower lever on some jobs (like BLM...).

As a big fan of the MSQ and a super story nerd... sure fuck it, why not? I didn't like Sapphire Weapon because it was one and done, I liked it because it was fun. Yes, I would like to do more of that. I'm not saying they need to start adding more bosses to a mech minigame but-... Well, it'd be fun idea. Imagine a ladder climb progression of raids but it's just G-Warrior battles. You already have the models of mechs and primals so... Yeah, I'd dig it. Now I do think the real reason for the content drought is that they were doing the ARR Rework... but yeah there's nothing wrong with wanting more things. Honestly, I've been wishing they would reuse areas for more solo duties. Like when they send you into Hatalli to save Raubahn in Heavensward. That was cool. The reverse of that would also be cool. The Nadaam PVP mode kinda being a repeatable version of the Nadaam quest battle was cool.

I think you bring up a lot of questions worth exploring. I really love this game but I get confused as to where, how and why they allocate resources the way they do during dev. I'll admit that it must be tough to have such a popular game and try to make content accordingly, but as for stuff like the scratch off tickets for Faux Hollows, I just don't know why they would spend time doing that. I'm just trying to understand, I'm not saying they are doing a bad job overall. Again, I love this game, but the team makes some odd choices in my opinion.

I liked the Sapphire fight, but it was too easy and over too fast. I wouldn't mind having a harder, repeatable, single player Extreme mode fight, even if it has little to no rewards.

"Like 50 tomestones" lmaoo. And when you're capped on tomestones or you buy all the available say minions, orch scrolls, or enough mats to last you a while, then what??? Tomestones are one of the major problems with the game. "Oh it's Wed and I'm capped at 450 and my other two are at 2k and I've done all the relics bcuz been playing since ARR. Now what?" Like come on.

@@dolphinboi-playmonsterranc9668 I would love this game to be more difficult. I came from playing Aion when it was a sub game and the difficulty of that even up until 2015 was imo 10x harder than 14. If you wanted things done, people joined teamspeak. XIV the content is so easy I could literally strip off pieces of gear in an "expert" dungeon as a tank and the healers could barely blink an eye. I love xiv, it's graphics are amazing, the OST is good, the housing is 10/10 in terms of creativity, and a majority of the savage fights are fun, but outside of savage/ultimate, the game is just too easy.

Aion was 10x better than xiv. XIV players wouldn't make it past level 20 when it was sub and even after it became FTP for that matter. I played up til 2016 before I stopped and flip flopped between wow and xiv. Even Savage content is too easy. The game itself isn't hard. It's the player base that makes it "hard." The mechanics are simple. Even in Ultimates. Clearing TEA without melee LB3 and 3 dps deaths and not seeing enrage? Uh hello?? XIV is good for the story, graphics, housing/glams. But on an MMO level it's complete trash.

@@amaretta_xiv The game used to be innately more challenging. Hard mode dungeons, certain story trials like Steps of Faith and the Chrysalis, and even normal dungeons all used to be genuinely difficult. Some aspects still are if people aren't paying attention or genuinely don't know what to do. But people hated being challenged or even being gated by content that would lock out the story if they didn't beat it. So they continually nerfed things so people could slide by just enough not to be a huge issue. While I don't think everything needs to be a humungous wall of difficulty, I would like most things expect me to know what I'm doing. Aurum Vale is a good example. Even today it can fuck you up in the first room if you pull too many adds. That dungeon was essentially a role check. Do you know how to pull, mitigate, and position yourself properly amongst the acid pools as a tank? Do you know how to heal adequately and add dps in while not burning through your own MP as a healer? Do you know how to burn through adds and stay out of the acid pools as to not waste the healers MP keeping you alive through damage you can easily avoid? Do you know when to eat the fruit to avoid over stacking poison debuffs? Hell, even ranged dps had a challenge here. They would often die due to being too far away from the healer. The poison stacks would through their health even after eating the fruit. This teaches ranged dps to stay near their healer unless situation dictates. But people hated being expected to play to a standard. Most people want to play casually and that's completely okay. But many people just wanted everything to be a face roll without properly learning their rotations, abilities, and roles. And SE kept bending over and gave them that. What's funny is certain dungeons after being nerfed still can wipe you if you don't know what to do. This almost proves that you just need to learn instead of brute forcing things.

​@@Zayindjejfj I played the game in ARR. I remember dpsing/tanking/healing said Dungeon. Once you learn it, it's easy. Again, it's the player base that makes things difficult. Refusal to use comms bcuz they don't think they need it, refusal to take constructive criticism. Hard mode dungeons? They weren't even hard and still aren't. Expert dungeons? What? Where's the expert level? Where do I get to put my 500 item level gear and 505 weapon to use? Clearing end game dungeons in 11 mins? Dungeons in Aion could take you an hour or more depending on whether or not you killed specific bosses, trash mobs, secret rooms, etc. It's quite sad FFXIV with each expansion and patch gets easier and easier.

The content becoming sparse isn't something that has been happening recently. It's been happening since HW according to people who have been playing since then. The pandemic only exacerbated the issue of no real meaningful content to engage in.

The dev team plan to use Bozjan Southern Front as a repeatable content this patch. Even though it is repeatable, it's not everyone's content.

Expert never having more than 2 doungeons is one thing but what really makes it worse imo is one of them not even bieng new content. It feels lazy when they just have you do content from previous patch to get the new tomestone.

My only hope is that the reason they're doing the bare minimum for this expansion and I can only assume for the next one as well is because they're planning to pull a PSO2 NG when they finish the arc of Hydaelyn vs Zodiark and we move on to a whole new story and era.

While I think the solo instance was cool and I'd like to see more repeatable versions, doing this to Sapphire Weapon was a fucking joke to me. We never get to properly fight Sapphire in FF7 and people always wondered what it would be like. What kind of gimmick and presentation. Also, the whole "oh we didn't intend for the mutation of over soul to happen so we put in a failsafe." Fucking what.... that's what made people hyped about this trial series. Seeing whose combat data would mutate the weapons. It would've been amazing if Sapphire weapon was a 8 man trial and then the half way point Cid uses the cannon in Gyr abania to blow Sapphire weapon's head off like in FF7. Then the second phase hits and the weapon mutates after taking the blow and continues from there..... I love the dev team... but fuck do they seem like they lack any creative foresight on certain things. It's like they COULD go balls to the wall but decide to be very safe with things that wouldn't cost them anything.

I think the reason why they had to reduce the dungeons per patch is because of Trusts. Having to program the AI to run perfectly (not running into geometry, the tank having to pick up new mobs if the player runs into a pack, the healer adjusting their DPS output to heal the player/party and having them excute mechanics) takes a lot of extra development costs that weren't there in previous expansions, especially when some dungeons like Dohn Mheg have unique animations and interactions like with the gap they have to cross. I understand squadrons were a thing before, but they ignored mechanics, had an excessively large health pool, and didn't adjust their aggro. They were akin to summoner pets that weren't given as much thought. Also, most of the money is going to the increasingly amount of voice acting and motion capture in cutscenes. It's not something you'll notice if you skip them but a huge chunk of the budget is going towards that. It's honestly impressive to see the increase in quality.

They built up this instance like they were going somewhere with it. Then the scene after made it seem like it was going to jump back to life for an on foot battle but no. Just give us customizable G Warriors 🤷‍♂️

I only picked up FFXIV a year ago. While I do my best to grab all the blue quests, I still missed out on several Alliance raids as I was leveling. The game doesn't do a great job of directing you to side content, especially older side content.

they rushed it and I am sure it is not going away anytime soon. There hasn't been another patch yet and I am sure in the next one they will bring this back lmao. In the story they still are fighting and leaning about the trade with the mechs. So it'll come back. There is a lot of content. Join a fc and make some friends. There is always something to do in ff.

There are a bunch of early dungeons that no one likes. Seriously (Aurum vale, Cutters cry and Dzemael darkhold just to name a few) why not just take these dungeons and re- design them slightly to be more linear (in order to fit in better with the current style of dungeon design) and then just sync them up to 80 like with Shiva. Maybe even put them on a weekly rotation so they don't get boring and are more evergreen.
