Loved this format! It allows you to work on some great art and practice while simultaneously allowing us to see what you are up to hehe. I think it really works with your voice over because unless you were doing something crazy with your hands it really lends itself to a podcast-esk type of feel and I think the mix really added to the discussion. The photo is also super cute

i thought this was a lovely idea to combine kind of "bookish" things and your passing for drawing :) i definitely agree that it was less horrible than i had expected and I'm definitely excited to see where the show is going!

Your sketch is amazing! Idk though, you were more kind than I was when watching the first episode. It felt disjointed, but there were some interesting parts where you could see the potential. I'm hoping it'll get better lol.

love the sketch - please do more! Also I really didn't like the pilot. Keep in mind I have only read the first book. So what did I like? Not much but here is a run down. opening music friendship and interaction between Clary & Simon in the cafe scene Simon’s glasses Magnus outside of the Institute Magnus in Pandemonium There was definitely more bad than good, and this doesn’t include the changes that were made from the book to the show. opening scene flashback 8 hours earlier ( I mean we knew she was an artist but come on…) biscotti foreshadow CSI crime scene with Luke shadowhunter stele gift “It’s very ancient” 10 years ago flashback at pond “Please take her memories” Jocelyn and Luke’s interaction lightsabers inside of Institute (too high tech, too many people) interaction of Isabelle and Alec Clary painting a rune on the van scene when bad guys come for Jocelyn “You have the sight” “more mundane blood for your boss” CGI Chernobyl the circle & Valentine Valentine’s lab (?) “potion. she must have been under the protection of a warlock” Clary picking up the axe in the destroyed loft Dot demon “Ow” Isabelle being so fake and smiley “Literally my brain is about to explode” finger paint runes

Awesome video and sketch! I agree with a lot of your opinions, and you put them into words better than I could. There were certain things I loved about the show but other things I found cheesy. I hope it gets the chance to find its groove

Nice sketch! Very talented. I think the Shadowhunters show was rocky, but as you said it's the first episode. I'll give it some time. I liked Simon's wit as well. Jace needed more edge and "who cares" strong, attitude. I liked that they had more Shadowhunters around. It made sense that they would be there.
@thereadables9 жыл бұрын
+Kimberly's Mind Storm Thanks Kimberly! I agree about Jace - he needs more swag XD Yah, I thought it made sense that there would be more shadowhunters occupying the place since it's the main HQ. I mean NYC is a big city to watch over ^^

Wow! Great sketch. I agree with you. I admit that I was expecting the worst for this show, because the trailer was seriously lacking. But I didn't hate it. Also, definitely agree about Jace needing to up his snark game and Magnus needs to loosen up. But all in all, not bad and a much better improvement from the movie. - Steph

loved the vid! And I would love to see more of your art on your channel :) As for the show: I haven't read any of the books but watched the movie and hadn't liked that very much, but so far I think the show seems more interesting, at least for me. Some things came off kinda weird, the acting wasnt perfect, but it wasnt all that bad either. Ithink I'll watch the rest too. Here in Brazil the show is also being broacast by Netflix, also one per week, but I think that's because it's from ABC family originally in the USA (though I think they changed their name to Freeform now? I'm not really sure).

+Tj F Thank you! Agreed. There were some instances where the dialogue came off flat, but it wasn't rampant throughout the episode XD Which I was relieved about.
@MsMaysWorld8 жыл бұрын
I also thought it was ok, I think the effects could have been better and I don't know if I like jace yet. I also like that there were more shadow hunters too, just makes more sense. Speaking of book to tv adaptations, have you thought about checking out the shannara chronicles from MTV? I think this show is pretty good and I now want to read the book, kind of backwards but whatever!
@thereadables8 жыл бұрын
+MsMaysWorld I heard about Shannara Chronicles! I'll have to check it out. but OMG I didn't know Gimli (john Rhys-Davies) is in it?! :) XD No worries! I've been very lax about what to watch/read first. Its all good either way
@MsMaysWorld8 жыл бұрын
update: i have been watching the show on MTV and its pretty good, especially the effects and cinematography. The story seems very similar to LOTR and the book series was apparently written in the 70s!

nice drawing :) .. i have a question for the fans of the books.... is it a girly book?? :D like twilight, the hunger games, the divergent series?? or is it more all encompassing?? like a song of ice and fire, wheel of time, the stormlight archive, the mistborn?

beautiful sketch! my thoughts on it were that I shouldn't have seen the movie because while I thought it wasn't great and that certain actors destroyed the role (John Rhys Meyers as Morgenstern ew) a lot of what the film did managed to stick in my head as correct like how Clary finds out about the Shadowhunters and how the institute should look. For the first few scenes in the show I just thought "this is not how this should be presented and the institute looks way too modern". I thought Isaiah Mustafa was the perfect Luke (Aidan Turner was good in the movie but I didn't like his makeup job and thought the character was poorly written in the film) but I forgot that was who it was lol. the entire time I was like " this guy is great and I recognize him but dunno why". I am still iffy on the rest of the cast but time will tell. I do think the guy playing Morgenstern this time is a much better choice because he played King Henri on Reign and does evil incredibly well.

+BBCgirl520 Yah, I wasn't too thrilled with the overall casting in the movie (except for a few like Simon), so it was challenging to get into the movie ^^; Yas! Old Spice Guy XD haha Love Isaiah. I know there's still quite a few other characters yet to be introduced - but yes, we'll see how the dynamic of everyone on the show goes.

The first episode was kinda mixed for me. I like the plot but some acting seemed a bit... awkward (read Jace walking around like a buff monkey). I thought Izzy, Alec, Simon and Magnus were the best. Hopefully it will feel less awkward once we are a few episodes in :) Really loved the music by the way, especially Ruelle - Monsters :D

I was kinda pumped watching the first episode and then I realised i was watching a dubbed. In my country they dub NOTHING unless its aired in the middle of the day on a childrens channel. Like for children children. Needless to say first impression ruined it all for me. There is no salvaging this. I'm still very intrigued tho, I might hate watch it? I really want a review on the whole season if you decide to watch it all. I also watched it on Netflix which is why I didn't know it was a kids show.
