Tales of Xillia [English Subbed]: Jude vs. Alvin

Jude does some growing up in both variations of the scenes.
Even with the 1.5x Exp and Gald Multiplier from the food, Jude STILL didn't get a level up!? Geez.
Tomokazu Sugita voice... That Arcane Arte and that Mystic Arte... seriously. It's ASKING for an Inferno Divider misdub from Ragna the Bloodedge Blazblue voice clips.
And yes, that jerk shot my main [s]Sakura Kinomoto Expy[/s], so I wailed on him the first time. I didn't care if he was voiced by Tomokazu Sugita. But then I decided to record the losing scene too.
The game goes on even if you lose. The after-battle scene is the only thing that changes.
Also, for the losing scene, I didn't know how to transcribe the Katakana for the other world. The one separate from Liese Maxia.
Didn't go for "literal" translation.
Those ones include:
ミラのもらった命: "The life Mila gave you." (When she sacrificed herself)
い・・・今のは: "Just... just now..."
And a few others, specifically in the losing scene. I think I did okay translation-wise.

I restarted the fight over and over just to see this. (Even if the fight is extremely easy, i don't know how the first 2 times Alvin just use his mystic arte on me and kill me)

I just played through Xillia....TWICE... and here's what i think about Jude and Emil. They're both timid pacifists that only by the power of a mysteriously strong willed person were they able to gain the courage to act. However, I found Jude more likable for the following characteristics: He's a strategist who thinks before acting; He shows other emotions other than his desire to protect, and His fighting style is quick and strong, making him very easy to pick up.

This scene was hard to watch for me, since Alvin and Leia were my favorite characters in the party. And the fact that this scene happened right after the "Milla Dying" plot twist made it even more effective.

you know what i like about jude? he has the resolve of Lloyd, fighting style of Regal (handcuffs off), but also the whiny feel of Emil to balance out his awesomeness.

When Alvin kicked Jude in the scene where you lost all I thought was "FALCON KICK!!"

That whimpiness served a purpose. That was his character-- and the only way he could ever be brave and fight to protect those he loved was to literally be someone that he was not. His Ratatosk Mode was his sword and shield up until the end where he no longer needed it because he could man up and be his own person, fight with his own sword and purpose. He had better character development than Jude did, simply because he was like a completely different person by the end of the game.

There are Tales fans, and then there are Symphonia fans. Symphonia fans would tear me apart for saying this, but Legendia will always be my favorite Tales game, with Xillia being a close second.

It really depends if you're into JRPGs. Especially the Tales of Series. This game is basically an anniversary title, and combines both aspects that the two major programming teams come up with. It's a hefty price tag as well, to import.

Well, it's kinda hard to notice that little detail when there's more important stuff. It's just an effect after he dodges and appears behind the opponent. It's just a fancy effect and doesn't impact the battle.

You can use it right from Jude being level 1. All you have to do is time your backstep for when the attack will make contact with you and Jude will teleport behind the enemy.

Pretty sure that when you use Rowen and time you backstep he gets a time stop effect on the enemies. I'm not sure about any of the other characters having a backstep thing, Milla can cast spells in the air though.

Why are people so paranoid over spoilers? I mean seriously, it's fun to find out what characters to hate early, and what units to carry in your party. For an RPG, spoilers are almost strategic. It lets you plan out your units, in case a few leave at odd times, or die, or go rogue.

I dunno i disagree i never understood people who speak english prefer japanese VO over their native language. I mean if i don't speak japanese how do i know if the VO is better. And people like this feel this way about almost every VO even if it's not that bad. I had one guy say millia's english voice is not sexy but the japan one is. I'm like that's because the majority of japanese girl actors are high pitched. Either way i don't hate people like this i just understand their thinking.

Also, Jude couldn't risk treating Leia because if he took the time to do so before stopping Alvin, he'd likely kill them both. Furthermore, Jude probably has the knowledge to know that the wound Leia took wasn't immediately fatal and could wait until he stopped the more lethal threat--Alvin. Jude went to medical school in a large city; he's probably seen his fair share of gunshot wounds on rotation.

I never won that fight, I suspect that's why my enemy book was never completed, or is it cause there is something only the Milla side sees? Poor Leia though, getting caught in the crossfire, I guess neither of them knew she was still alive to begin with, hence why they did not "mind her dying" as other comments put it. I mean you'd think someone would die from a shot in the back. Plus both guys were kinda not all there at his point

Shifting? You mean Jude's Flash Step where he ends up behind the enemy? You do that by simply backstepping right before an enemy attacks. Only Jude can do that, however Leia has a similiar thing and so does Rowen once you got the skill from the 2nd Lillium Orb

Juan Villicaña By logic, I am referring to human-based logic, like I don't care if they wanna defy physics or any other sciences (it's a fiction game after all) but when it comes to feelings and humanity, I think there's no distinction even in anime. The situation with Leia is definitely illogical, anyone with a heart and a brain, will go and help Leia (who's dying) but look at Alvin and Jude >.< I'm sorry for my rant, I played this game with a high expectation but it turned out to be a huge disappointment to me and it doesn't even have Graces awesome battle gameplay!
