It was never Arnold, it was a Raptor wearing his skin. It ripped his arm off way before the event and got through his arm hole. If you watch the film back you'll notice they only show one of his arms as the other one has 3 claws.

That’s exactly what I figured out what happened. He emerged from the bunker and at this point the raptors hadn’t escaped from the enclosure because they hadn’t realised that the fences were off. He sees that the fences are intact and assumes it’s safe. They hear him walk past and it incites them to test the fence again and the raptors realise that they can get out. They break out and at least one follows him into the maintenance shed and hunt him down.

The Raptor pen was powered by the same power supply as the rest of the island, it was just on it's own circuit. Nedry's "whte_rbt.obj" only shut down the electricity to the fences, electric locks on all the doors, and the security camera, but NOT the Raptor pen. When Ray Arnold rebooted the system to purge it of whte_rbt.obj, rebooting the system tripped the breakers and killed power to the whole park including the raptor pen. That's right, Nedry isn't responsible for the raptors getting out, Ray Arnold is.

Theoretically, he could survive it with the right setup, getting to a place where the Raptor couldn't fully get him and leaving him bleeding there and...potential to do something to survive and possibly come to after Ellie escapes the shed and the raptor follows. Having him be alive and in a real bad shape for survivor is possible there.

What enabled me to have nightmares about Jurassic Park was that by some freaky coincidence I was just about Lex’s age at the time-maybe slightly younger and my brother was about Tim’s age. It was entirely too easy for my brain to substitute them for us being chased around by raptors in that kitchen. Though even at that tender age I condemned them for their idiocy when Rexie first showed up. For the entire scene, after the leg of goat hit the roof and you could see the claws destroying the fence I was thinking I’d have quietly closed the door left open by the lawyer and then crawled down into the leg compartment, curled up and gone completely still having whispered to my brother to do the same. 😆 We’d have been curled up in the jeep leg compartments of the jeep, practically undetectable to a human let alone a dinosaur before Rexie finished getting through the fence!

Lets say he managed to evade the raptors upon the sacrifice of his arm, this is one possibility. Losing his arm, he could use either his tie or belt to tie off where he lost his arm to prevent further bleeding. From here he has to make it to one of the emergency shelters, which are fully stocked and according to Hammond "Spared no expense" line, the shelter would be equipped to handle such an injury. Here he could wait it out until he fully recovered and is well enough to make it off the island, for all we know, there could be a one armed Arnold out there not only surviving, but thriving

In the Offical Script Book, Lara Dern is backing away from a veliciraptor, after turning the power on, when we see over her shoulder an arm and a leg sticking out of a corner from a person in a white lab coat hiding. Laura calls to Sam Jacksons character, he doesn't answer. She rounds the corner, and lets out a silent scream. The audience is left confused for a beat, when the arm and leg fall in different directions. Both limbs were sculpted for the movie, in the end - possibly due to Hurricane Icini - the scene was shortened, and only the arm was used.

OH COME ON MAN! IT WAS TOTALLY ANSWERED! THEY MADE IT OBVIOUS THE RAPTORS ATE HIM! Look, I loved Arnold too; he was the first SLJ character I was introduced to as a youngun, but we have to accept what we saw for there to be any stakes in the story. If people keep coming back from the dead, it's going to cause the same problem with JP that WarCraft has right now: death is of no consequence so it feels like there isn't really any danger in a lot of cases. I can buy that Muldoon survived (as the boardroom scene isn't *really* canon as it was deleted for a reason), but Arnold is a stretch. Even if he survived the raptor attack, the blood loss from a total amputation (at the shoulder mind you, with no way to apply a tourniquet) of a limb (or two?) would have caused his death within an hour or two tops. He would have gone into shock and passed out in a matter of minutes. And besides, given the two, I think Muldoon has a lot more story potential for the future of the JP franchise, both on the big screen and off.

The original Jurassic Park concept was an interpretation of a safari park, not as a luxury sightseeing tour. Hammond's vision was for people to observe dinosaurs with minimal interruption from the tourists. The technology wasn't fully developed for them to implement things like quiet train lines. As for the reason Grant could open the door on the tour was because Nedry hadn't finished completing the coding for the electronic locking mechanism as they weren't prepared to open for full scale operation at that point. Hammond needed experts in their given field e.g. Dr Grant, Ellie Sattler, and for some reason Dr Ian Malcolm to give their recommendation to give Hammond's investors confidence to continue investing in the park as they were months away from opening to the public. Using Chaos Theory, Malcom predicted that Jurassic Park would be a failure (though how it would fail wasn't predicted) and Hammond needed to prove Malcom wrong and get him to sign off on the park which would be a really big endorsement.

This is one of the things I disliked about Steven Spielberg films the most are the massive plotline holes. 😅 Like seriously Muldoon being the game warden should've went with Arnold to the maintenance shed as protection against escaped dinosaurs. They already knew the T Rex was on the loose and rampaging the island. I questioned this scene even as a kid. If the mission was so important to regain power back to Jurrasic Park then why was Ray Arnold allowed to go by himself without any weapons?
