It is underrated in some areas, certainly. Especially Grant's lecture. "Dinosaurs died 65 million years ago. What is left of them is bones, and it is in those bones that true scientists make discoveries. What John Hammond and Ingen did is create theme park monsters. Nothing more, nothing less".

While seeing animals protecting their young is nice and all, showing that they aren't monsters. Those raptors had no reason to think that they could get their eggs back. Any other creature that steals eggs would have eaten them in short order. The reason that dinosaurs would lay so many eggs is because losses are a fact of life for wild animals. No other creatures would abandon 10 eggs to go chase after two that are most likely already gone. Why did the raptors even leave their nests unattended to begin with? They could have left at least one member to deter any egg thieves.

Okay, so, I see this on almost every Jurassic Park 3 video that I watched. Everyone always asks how did Eric get the T-Rex piss? Well if you read between the lines, you'll realize that he wears camouflage clothing and has rubbed dirt all over himself to hide his scent and has also been to the InGen facility to get supplies. So that means that he was out exploring the island and came across a T-Rex. We know he's read Allen Grant's book so he knows that the T-Rex vision is based on movement so he stayed perfectly still, but the T-Rex that he found was marking its territory. The T-Rex cock its leg and pissed all over him and then he just rang out his piss covered clothes into a vial. It's really not that hard, I mean, how do you think he survived on an island full of predatory dinosaurs but knows about the Spino? He's covered in the territory marking urine of a Bull T-Rex so no other predator would dare come near him but the Spino aka "it attracts a really big one with a fin" would be actively stalking him since it's always looking for another big dino to kill.

The size of the Jurassic Park "Velociraptors" is more in line with larger Maniraptors like Deinonychus, but they were still called "Velociraptors" because that name is just easier to casually say than "Deinonychus". In Jurassic World 1 Wu actually discussed that issue relatively early in the movie when people were doubtful what the genetic modification of Indominus had to do with reviving real dinosaurs and explained that none of the dinosaurs in the park have ever been "real dinosaurs", but they were all just "park monsters", because they all needed to be genetically modified to get a completed DNA string together. Then, n Jurassic World 3, Wu announces that they finally managed to create the first clones of pure dinosaur DNA, and the result of that is the Pyroraptor we see in the frozen barrage scene. That guy is still a bit oversized, but the amount and kind of feathers it has is what you'd also expect to see on a real Velociraptor, and the JP 3 ones are still not even close to that.

I absolutely love the raptors in this film, they're my favorites in the franchise, and the other dinosaurs are great too! And Eric is a badass, surviving alone for 8 weeks as a kid? Awesome! His parents annoyed me but at the same time, they're so real...like, I have known divorced adults that act like them lol. And the Udesky scene freaked me out so much as a kid, it was so messed up but at the same time made me love the intelligence given to the raptors this time around. People also cry about how different the biomes are from The Lost World but have they ever seen Lord of the Rings? Filmed completely in New Zealand, so you get snow and prairie and jungle and forest and mountains within a few hours of each other, so it's completely possible that the biomes in JP3 are on the same island! Also, love the disdain you showed for Jack Horner...I hate that man with a passion XD T-rex I believe was like a lion, scavengers because why not make use of free meat? But also hunter that can take down whatever it wants when it wants. The Spino gets a lot of flak for killing the Rex, but honestly it and the Cerato are faves of mine too; poor Cerato only got a few seconds of screen time, he was robbed XD

JPIII has so many "survival horror" beats that I wish they would have leaned into a little harder. The plane crash, the underwater scenes, and the raptor trap in particular stick with me. The idea of being stranded on an island full of genetically engineered prehistoric beasts is so cool to me, and since this is already something of a spinoff, I always think about how this story could go with an R rating.

Jurassic park 3 is still my favorate in the franchise, I acknowledge that it's not the best, but it's my favorate. It's nice to hear from a kindred spirit who enjoys the T-Rex's death more than they probably should. Hot take, I actually like that Ellie and Alan aren't together in this movie, it's quite realistic, they're still really good friends but they just weren't compateable as partners, you can tell there was no bad blood between them and the breakup was amiacable. It shows that a character can still have a happy ending and a meaningful relationship with a character of the opposite sex without the need for them to be together. That is until Dominium came around and turned that from a meaningful and subversive end to the story to a pointless roadblock to the happy ending.

This was one of my favorite movies when i was younger. I had the three film Dvd set. As a child i loved these raptors the most, loved the "lost in the jungle" aesthetic, and the spooks of having such a big scary spino on the hunt. At the time i knew the spino was meant to be a fish boy in real life, and i knew they blew him out of porportion to be the big scary bad guy. But i loved him anyway. The way he had such an intelligent face, like when hes standing there silently watching their reunion by the fence, or simply follows their boat through the river. I thought the spino was a super cool part of the movie, beating the t rex silly or not!

Over the years, I've come to appreciate certain aspects of this movie more, especially given what happened in Dominion...ugh. The addition of the Spinosaurus was excellent. I thought the T-Rex was invincible and pulling the rug out from under us with that was excellent. Plus, the Spino is like an old-school slasher villain that just will not stop. The raptors in this one were GORGEOUS!! Having Red as the lead raptor in JW would have been sick. They really took them in such an unexpected direction with the designs and colors and I loved the communication/intelligence side of them in this. Sure there are some wonky bits here and there and the script could have had some better conflict or character development, but the creature work shined in this one. I actually like to think that as soon as Ben and Eric get stuck in the tree something came around to investigate. Eric could have gotten out of the harness easier but Ben was somehow stuck and just became lunch, whether it was the Spinosaurus or Compies.
@Polyeurythane Жыл бұрын
Personally I always believed that Ben protected Eric during the fall through the dense forest canopy and sustained internal injuries/bleeding as a result. There’s a book out there that I’m not sure is canon or not that’s written from the general perspective of Eric or at least following him as he survives on the island before his parents and Grant arrive that also suggests the same thing. Either way, it was always an interesting death, and that Ben died being a good person.

When this movie first came out I had already been a big fan of things like The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone, watching them with my grandmother. The dream sequence on the plane was absolutely *dripping* with the style of those mystery thrillers and really freaked me out the first time I saw it. @coen8677 Жыл бұрын
It's simply too short for a Jurassic Park movie, and it had an anti-climactic ending. They, perhaps, could've added a few more mercs in the movie. And the Spinosaurus snapping the T-rex's neck... It could've at least ruined its throat with a bite and a few scratches before hitting it off a cliff with its slightly larger tail it could've had. Other than that, this was an epic film with a lot of suspense and dinosaur action. Oh yeah, and the raptor dream... They could've just let the raptor walk towards Alan on the plane and, you know, not talk. He could've just woken up from the fright. It's not like he needs to be called by his name in order to be waked lol
@tomcross3000 Жыл бұрын
tails used in fighting would be even less realistic than what we had tbh, not to mention the spino is not smart enough to have that amount of battle iq. now, not saying it didn't have any, because it did use its weight and big arms to break rex's neck.. what is it with neck breaks in this movie!? raptors did it too. in the storyboard the fight was inconclusive but it also showed spinosaurus kicking out at the t rex, enough to cause a huge wound and cover grant in a sea of its blood, and the scene ends when grant escapes and the spinosaurus is hovering over the t rex now on its side, looking perilous. so there were multiple approaches to the scene in question and i guess they chose the most simple and "badass"

The dream raptor said "Alan", because one of the people on the flight in the "non dream world" said "Alan" at that moment and tried to wake him up. Raptor saying "Alan!" is just the moment Alan slowly wakes up and his dream melts with what he is actually sensing from the real world.

I enjoyed 3 as a kid and I feel I’ve come to enjoy it even more as an adult. But the killing of the T-Rex (which isn’t a full grown Rex because they wanted the Spino to look way bigger, also if it had been full sized that Rex would’ve kicked ass) is still unforgivable to me and fills me with anger and unhappiness. It’s been 22 years and I still skip that scene even now. I know you don’t feel it’s a bad thing but the T-Rex (who has become one of the most iconic dinosaurs of all time) was and is THE Dino of Jurassic Park and is the face of the franchise. Killing one of them to make the Spino look tougher was not the best decision.

What I liked about JP3 is that they added scenes from Crichton's original novel that didn't make it into the first movie - for example, the scene in the aviary, and the scene with the Spino chasing them down a river (in the book it was the T-Rex, so JP3 reworked it to be the Spino, which given its semi-aquatic nature, probably makes more sense anyway).
@fran3ro Жыл бұрын
It's the third best JP movie. Edit: I have been thinking a posible fix for this movie. I'd change the parents from bankrupt to powerful tycoon who love their kid but never had the time for him. Make them the kind of people who do as they please and never take a no for an awnser. Take out the spinosaurus and instead make them be chased by the chameleon-like carnotaurus (in the second book). Add some T-Rex chases like the one in the river (in the first book). Give more time to the mercenaries and add a few more. Hell, you can even make a whole new movie without the kid and family, just the mercenaries and Dogdson (like the second book) trying to get the samples a previous team failed to do, and they kidnaped Grant as their expert.

Or add the new shape Spinosaur and have an epic riverscene with it, but having a Carni chase them in the beginning sounds good and then T-Rex.
