I bought my MT07 new in 2017. I have used it locally in England and it great. I have toured the UK and its great. I have toured France and its great. I took a trip to Croatia and Slovenia in 2017 and it was great. When I tour I have a large amount of luggage and it performs and handles great. I regularly get 200 miles from a tank and its not empty at that time. I regularly get up to 70mpg if I stay within the speed limits when touring. This is a fantastic bike and has masses of torque which is great for real world riding. Hoped this helps people who are trying to decide.

5 answers/ amendments for the 5 complaints; - buy an aftermarket comfort seat - even mega low scenario 35+ mpg is acceptable for the 3.7 tank size, which equates to 130 miles of fun. If you're going farther than that without stopping, youre on the wrong bike, which is your fault. - its a naked bike. Wind protection isn't even a valid complaint nor a concern. Know what bike you're buying because you are voiding your right to complain when you purchase one. - Almost no bike is unique in and of itself. It is how the rider dresses it which makes it unique- and therefore could easily become a one-of-a-kind motorcycle. - Buy an aftermarket rear shock. Use heavier fork oil to combat a springy front fork. However, neither of these are even an issue for casual riding, which negates the concern. If you bought this to race or track, you bought the wrong bike. Conclusion: its a near flawless bike for how its intended to be used.

Did my first big road trip with my mt07 last month. 520+ miles each direction. After market windscreen, not too big, throttle lock, air hawk seat and universal saddle bags plus camping gear on top of passenger seat and bags. The air hawk seat was amazing. My ass pretty much didn’t get sore or uncomfortable. As far as fuel capacity, by the time I’d be getting low I’d want to get off and stretch my legs anyway

75hp not being a lot? Man, the stock bike is equivalent to a 2,500lb car with 468hp. Of course it isn't a 160-180+ hp 999cc bike but its also cheap with 75hp and tons of torque. It can definitely handle a passenger with ease.

“Everybody has one, it’s not like a cool bike” - it is cool if everyone has one and if they don’t have it they want it. All valid points but easily fixable. First upgrade should be the Yamaha comfort seat. Very grippy and thick padding. Will raise the seat height a little. Small gas tank but still better mileage compared to a super sport at least vs the older models. Sport or touring windscreen solves the lack of wind protection. It’s popular because it’s fun and everyone knows it. My hi-viz yellow FZ-07 is unique now since Yamaha discontinued this colour scheme after 2018. Stock suspension sucks especially if you’re heavy but easily fixed with aftermarket replacements. My suggestion would be to look for a used FZ-07 that’s been upgraded already.

There’s a comfort seat for the both seats you can get if you plan on riding with a passenger

There is a comfortable seat for the r1 too but when I buy a naked in the first place I expect it to be comfortable out of the factory. I don't need to spend money to make my naked bike ridable for longer rides or commuting. What is the point to buy a naked bike if not the comfort aspect.
@Southice

@@Fearless154 It's a 'naked' bike because it is naked. It comes without the extra's like a seat or wind screen which touring bikes have.

I had the 2019 MT07. I AGREE TOTALLY WITH YOUR COMPLAINTS! The seat sucks on that bike. I traded it in on an older Ninja 1000. I traded that in on my two week old 2020 Ninja 650. So much more comfy in the saddle than the 1000. I have the KRT ABS edition. I bought the factory tail trunk kit with backrest (she likes). TST plug n play integrated turn signal/tail light (easy install), factory touring screen (still needs a deflector, I'm 6'). This bike is in the top two of bikes I've owned that was flat out comfortable, smooth power band ( won't jerk gf's neck shifting), and the new Dunlops are now my favorite tire - replacing Purelli Angel ST. This Ninja inspires you to lean more than my Ninja 1000 could. Those tires make the bike feel weighted and planted in turns way better than my 1000. The display through the app let's you even check lean angles. I commute 50 miles round trip a day. The MT07, The Ninja 1000 , and the Ninja 650 I fill every three days and never see the low fuel light. It's basically a 65-70mph cruise. At fill up with 148 miles on it I put in 2.3 gallon with the Ninja 650. I like this bike and I'm an old timer in your eyes. It does beg for a slip-on! Akropovic megaphone. Have you tested a 2020 Ninja 650?

If you want a long distance naked bike get a 2018+ gsxs 750. Drove 4 hours to pick it up and rode it back filled up about 45 minutes after leaving the dealer. And one more time before getting home. Averages about 160-180 miles per tank with a little over 3 gallons

I don't care about all of these but it definitely made me stop to think about things. Guys are asking sticker for ther 4 to 6 year old FZ/MTs now with 6,000+ miles. I miss riding though... Suggestions? I'll be doing around town riding, not highway and I won't have a passenger. So there's that. Also, were you riding an FZ or MT? I heard the 2018 and newer MT has better suspension.

Riding a passenger sucks on any bike, full stop, but my 44 kilo (95 lb)Thai wife isn't too bad on the back for short rides and she says it's much better than the MT03 I had before the MT07. My 30 cm (13 in) high windscreen makes 120 to 130 kph (75-80 mph) comfortable, far better than nothing. I also have a rear rack for commuting and long trips of up to 2000 km (1200 mi). Same rig as I had on the MT03 and I'm 178 cm (5'10") and 68 kilos (150 lbs) 56 yrs old. The 07 is a great bike!

@Fearless154
@Fearless154 4 жыл бұрын
Go to the showroom and sit on the bikes see which one fits you better. Both bikes are kinda similar with the only difference is the power delivery mt07 is very bursty out of the line but lack the top end and z650 is smoother and more balanced. It's slower out of the line but will have nice top-end power. If you ask me I would pick mt07 it has more character and overall much more fun to ride and z650 got a smooth and "boring" engine in my opinion. Also, ninja650 will be a much better choice for long rides than mt07 or z650 it got the same comfortable ergonomics as either of them but with fairings and taller wing screen which protects you from the wind.

I have a 2017 FZ-07 ABS. It's made for romping around town. I live in Orlando, Florida so it's perfect for those streets. My commute is 10-20mins. Enough acceleration power when you need it. Enough power for the freeway. When i first got the bike i was accidentally pulling power wheelies because my first/previous bike was a 2012 Kawasaki 250R. Used to twisting that throttle all the way and banging through the gears.

I like this review and the poor wind protection, seat comfort and fuel range are very important points. But I'm struggling to understand this low mpg figure. My 20-year-old TDM 850 does 250 miles on its full 20 litre tank - so 60 plus mpg. The important thing to note is that holding a steady speed is the key to good mpg with these engines. Actually the TDM also has a great fairing and pretty comfortable seat - and of course the 270 degree parallel twin engine that allowed the MT07 to come into existence. So maybe the little kid could learn a thing or two from its older brother!

I have a 2019 MT07 the only passenger complaints I get are about rear pegs. I get nearly 70 mpg in the UK and regularly get over 150 miles to a tank. It's a naked that's why I got it, I'm old school. Like I've been riding for over 35 years and it does what I want. That includes doing 300 mile days, the suspension ain't that bad and I'm over 6 foot and 17 stone. My only problem is build quality, you obviously have the wrong bike for what you want.

I have no problem riding naked long distance, I commute to and from work a good 40 miles up the turnpike one way every day, sometimes a 3 hour trip to Gainesville, but my bike is a bit heavier so IDK. Yesterday I rode a 350 km trip with the same screen that you have. The seat gets to your butt after around 60 km's, but with enough stops and a travel speed of 90-100 km/h, this bike isn't the worst going to a longer distance trip. You could easily do 500 km's per day if you really wanted to.
