This man is pure southern soul for the new age and I hope he makes music to the end of our days because I need every flame he sparks in this world to keep on burning. Lyrically, musically, energetically - pure genius. 🎶🔥

So many artists have just been trends in my heart, coming and going. Some artists I loved with my whole heart for months and then promptly forgot until someone reminded me of them. Shakey Graves has been an artist I have been consistently listening to since 2020 and I can't imagine not coming back to these live performances at least once a month to listen to all those little unique moments in each performance. It's amazing.

One hell of a live musician. In a world full of auto tune and post production its a beautiful thing to see one man rock out so much great music live.

So loving Shakey's tunes. Was right up the road from Reville ranch when he played there. Could hear him from my porch. He is such a musical genius:) I was playing my hand drums right along with him.

Here are the lyrics :) [Verse 1] So hang my up from your rafters Yeah, oh baby, peel me apart for the glow Yeah oh keep me like a present And display me so everyone knows Yeah, and you can hang my poor skin from the rafters And peel me apart for the glow But, oh, I've got nowhere to go Yeah this is the only jail I've known [Chorus] So it's out of the fire and into the flame I'll stay a cage-bird the rest of my days Yeah, baby, come along and go sell the farm You know I'd always trade it in for a new coat of arms [Verse 2] So I say, why do you worry? Yeah, why do you constantly ask 'When is the last day of school?' Oh, today is the first day of class And I know that you will be waiting Yeah, I know you're that silly-old ass That knows every task And I won't be showing up last [Chorus] 'Cause it's out of the fire and into the flame Oh, I stay a cage-bird the rest of my days Oh baby yeah come along let's go sell the farm And go trade it in for a new coat of arms

This is such an incredible song and Shakey Graves has such an incredible way of making the same song different while maintaining its incredible-ness every time he sings it that I feel genuine sadness that I can't find any other instance of him singing this. Hopefully he has plans for it in the future and will put out at least a few more incredible renditions of it.
