I put one on my skinny tunnel hull with a 25 hp Yamaha about 2 years ago made by a company called Permatrim in New Zealand.....Made a difference in my ability to get up and run around the Florida Gulf Coast here in the Chassahowitzka NWR ....Everything around here is associated with a lime rock bottom so I have to be able to run skinny.....Nice add on!!😎

Great video. Awesome info. I just purchased a used boat with a the shaw plate and bobs cone in it. I didn't realize how useful this plate can be if setup correctly. Now, I just need to figure out the sweet spot of the jack plate height and trim.

i personally would have made it about 2" longer. next thing to look at is additional transom wedge & a cupped prop. i noticed you dont trim at all. stock transoms are 16-18* but jets and shallow skiffs benefit from 20-22*. the main reason is to minimize prop wash when the jackplate is high. this keeps the nose from lifting as well. your pods already keep your lift fairly level though. Additional wedge will also allow you to keep the nose in the water witch is a must when theres a heavy chop. now that you have less skeg and less prop in the water consider stepping into a 4 blade prop. this will increase your grip witch will increase hole shot even more and help with some of that moderate cavitation you had. . ............Lastly youre testing a boat yet neither have on a life jacket.

from the video, at speed it looks like you could have trimmed up a little more with the engine, not the jackplate

I do not have the ability or know how to build something like this. But would a hydrofoil serve a limited purpose and increase the performance of my boat? Love my Honda as well.

I would say yes, it all depends on the type of boat and the hydrofoil design

Negative, I had a hydrofoil on it before I build this. It’s a world of difference, hydrofoil does not force hard water down to your prop and doesn’t give you half the lift that this does! I gained 3 mph more than with the hydrofoil

Always start off trimmed all the way down and adjust accordingly as you plane off and reach top speed.
