I think it's getting them so used to that format and off the cuff way of being funny that it's literally taking their mental focus away from what it takes to really write and polish up their material. I mean, some like shane gillis are just so damn funny and unique they're great at both, but for most it's probably harder to focus on getting better at both. Like I've noticed tony hinchcliffe is kind of the opposite. He can be funny on podcasts, but he doesn't seem to prioritize being funny on podcasts. He prioritizes being funny on stage and it shows

That’s why when you see these comics that are all about hustle culture and putting out a ton of content, their content is alway super bland and repetitive. Is your premise, that the difference between them is that Shane sleeps too long, and therefore wakes up with withdrawal symptoms, that he could have avoided by only sleeping 6 hours and starting the day with a mimosa? So what happened here, was not about Shane Gillis. This was a chance for Bert to talk about how great he is and how rich he is. Shane Gillis and Bert both went to bed relatively late. Bert is so awesome, after a night of partying and drinking, he feels absolutely wonderful and gets up at 7 to work his ass off. He points out he got a masseuse, hair stylist, and whatever else, to show how in his mind he’s so successful and because he’s so rich and us peons can’t afford this. Then he goes Back to justify his drinking by saying again basically, that others he’s around can’t rebound near as fast as he can as an alcoholic. Bert is simply not funny, he makes up stories to impress others, and if anyone in his little fun group dies in their middle aged years, it will absolutely be him. I mean he thinks his body is loaded with muscles because he can allegedly bench 225lbs. I’ve seen a guy at the gym who was skinny as a rail lift 225. The bad thing is, non of his so-called friends really are his friends or they would try to help him .
