"Thrash 'Til Death" is my all time favorite Whiplash song. And I much prefer the "3 Tonys" lineup. And I know album covers shouldn't gauge how good a record was. But their "Power and Pain" album cover was very lame and stupid. I think a better album cover would have attracted more listeners for them. Back in the day before the internet, they really shot themselves in the foot when they decided to use that stupid art. The power in advertising correctly.

I find that they have great riffs, great drumming and great vocals, but the songs never change it up. If the songs were two minutes long it would be better. They’re too repetitive. But they definitely have talent.

The riff sounded a little too much like the theme song from The Green Hornet (the TV show from the 60's, not the movie); and the little doll couple on the album art look like they just stepped out of a Davey & Goliath cartoon. (Or maybe they ESCAPED from a Davey & Goliath cartoon!!) I don't know anything about this band but being that they formed in New Jersey in the early/mid-80's, it would not surprise me if they played regularly at Studio One in Newark and both locations of L'Amour in New York (Queens and Brooklyn). There was also an underground thrash magazine called Whiplash in the early 80's...the thing looked like it was a literal cut-and-paste deal with all the articles in that old-school, terrible, Courier "typewriter" font (I'm an admin assistant so I know these things)...someone probably ran them off a Xerox machine at their local office supply store for 25 cents a copy. It was always lying around indie record stores (where I would buy Duran Duran import stuff, darling)...I am sure someone must have a stash for sale on eBay!

I just found this review, randomly but I had to put my thoughts in. Back when I was in school, 13 years old, in 1986 it was right in the middle of thrash at its peak. Reign in Blood, Puppets, Peace sells etc. where never off my record player. I was lucky enough to be able to see all of the big four live through 87 and 88. Anyway I digress, a friend of mine was wandering towards me as I was walking between classes and he had a record bag in his hand, we went to school in the city so sometimes we would buy albums in the morning and have them in school. This guy was always the one to buy random stuff that nobody else did but they usually turned out to be gems. I asked him what he had and he produced Ticket To Mayhem, I said once he had a listen could I borrow it and lend him one of mine. He agreed and about a week later I had this in my hands. Took it home, slapped it on and immediately thought wow, who are these guys, where did they pop up from? Unfortunately back then we had no interweb so I never found out until much later, the history of the band, might have been in Metal Forces magazine or Metal Hammer. I remember Tony taking over the drums with Slayer. Anyway after that load of info, Walk the Plank is in my top 5 thrash tracks, always has been, one I listen to all the time. It was brutal back then, of course things are much more brutal now but it still packs a punch for my 51 year old ears. Whiplash deserved to be much bigger than they were, especially with this album, excellent from end to end. ALL thrash addicts should have this. Look up Slayer 1987 Toronto w/ Tony Scaglione on You Tube to hear how good he was standing in. Keep up the great work to keep these legends alive! All the best, from Northern Ireland.

Yes Scaglione replaced Lombardo in Slayer. I saw Slayer with Scaglione at L'Amour in Brooklyn in 86 or 87. The song Stage Dive off the Power and Pain album is insane. Whiplash was great until they got a new singer name Glenn in 89. He kinda sucked.
