Hey Shane, this is Michael Drive (Lee), the lead singer for Barren Cross. A good friend dropped me this link so I thought I would stop by. Nice reactions; I enjoyed watching this! By the way, just a bit of trivia - the place where we filmed this video for Imaginary Music was inside of an abandoned Synagogue in New York City. Very interesting place to shoot a rock video, indeed. Anyway, this is mainly just to thank you! Take care! Michael

Yea, I remember Barren Cross. I had their first record on cassette. White Cross is another great Christian band that sound like Dokken and Ratt. Rex Carrol is an awesome guitarist.

The album was actually better than I thought it would be. I humored my friend and listened to it thinking it couldn't be good being Christian rock. Then killers of the unborn started playing. Wtf??!! Lol!

Favorite song is ( living dead) ( light the flame) ,killers of the unborn . All around brilliant band with no fear of candy coating subjects. They talked about suicide, drug abuse ,abortion, alchohol. To me they showed a light amongst dark subjects that most Christian bands would never tackle. Mike is one of the best metal singers . Yes he sounds like Dickerson but much more to his vocal capabilities. Birth pangs is one of the greatest live vocal performances ever to be filmed. Most singers would be unable to even hit notes mike did 30 minutes in but he did for a hour and a half! Like my girlfriend said he has a gift from a higher power. Wish they had done more albums . Check out their album ( rattle your cage) fantastic also

So I'm 545 years old and the 80s were my he days for music. I'm a lead guitarist but also play multiple instruments and sing. You are correct when you say that Barren Cross was a bit like Bruce D and Iron Maiden. The music writing wasn't the same but Mike sounded A LOT like Dickinson. What you'll find though is that while Christian bands in the 80s wrote some great music they also had their influences as they were pioneers wanting to do a good thing. While early pioneers like Petra maybe had a but of a Boston, Foreignor influence, Ressurection Band sounded more like AC/DC or even a later band X-Sinner also sounded like AC/DC. Then you had early 80s Daniel Band who's singer sounded like Geddy Lee. Whitecross sounded like Ratt, Saint like Judas Priest musically AND vocally but I also have to say Stryper was refreshing having their own sound.
