Do it. Math is much less work than CS in my opinion. That's because as long as you understand something, proving it is very easy, because it's all theory. A proof can be written in one line. 10 proofs and you have a problem set finished. In CS, it can take a lot of time to prove you can do something since you have to actually grind out the application. In liberal arts, it takes freaking ages to prove something, since they make you write all those damn essays. I spent about an hour a week per class on hw for my math degree. Ez pz. Also, to save time elsewhere, I just didn't attend my business classes and aced all of them. They put the notes online and it's so easy to understand... What's the point of wasting time in class? Beating the curve there is easy because, you guessed it, those students suck at math.

@@michaelcallahan8412 Most of it is kind of incorrect. You need problem solving skills in math. Most of the time you'll be staring at a problem waiting for inspiration to hit you. And sometimes things will start to work and you'll have no idea how you got close to solving it. If you think it's easy then try solving the reimann hypothesis or try proving the Wallis product in an entirely new way. Chances are you'll probably never be able to solve both of them even after spending a lifetime because many mathematicians have dedicated their lives to solve the former problem and none of them have succeeded so far

Great video, Shane! To add, I've never met anyone that has regretted a business degree - its versatility cannot be understated, as you can take this degree to just about any industry or vertical. I talk quite a bit about MBAs on my channel, and for those that DO regret their undergrad degree, MBAs are typically their way out in getting something valued highly in the market and advancing their career. That said, everyone will have different goals, so a top MBA that costs $200K isn't going to be right for alot of folks. Many can do just as well with a far less expensive MBA. And if there's concern that business degrees are too general, many programs offer specializations/concentrations that can differentiate it.

Journalism and Economics are two different career paths for me, they won't mix. A career in Economics is what I'm striving for, and a side job working in Journalism (such as content writing, content creation, simple things that don't take up much of time). I chose Economics for the same reason I chose Journalism, I want to work in a field that is insightful and helpful to not just myself but the community. Economics can be profitable if you're looking for a job in the right places (for me I'd want to work in the government, ie Public Sector, it pays well and I could get alot of privileges). The math isn't overly complicated if you're not an A+ math student, and if you like researching or just getting down with reading, analyzing data, and interpretation, you'll find economics to be fun, imo.

@@abigailwint1758 Thanks for advice but Unfortunately I have no time to any of that stuff, you’re lucky you know what you want... unlike me, I finished my 2 yrs in college(general education) and now I’m transferring to university.. and I have literally no idea what I want to do (since High School). Lately, I became slightly interested in investing and the Stock market, these kind of stuff... so I found the best majors for this is Econ, Finance or Business... So when I think about it as: I will get the Bachelors degree ( To be considered educated and please my parents) in something related to Stock trading and investing, and then I will work with myself in investing or whatever.. or go to law school(have a tiny interest in it), I say that’s good...... but when I think about it as: I don’t need it, I can invest without a degree, I don’t even like studying things like statistics, and I don’t like the kind of jobs it gets me(fin.advisor, analyst,...) , it will be useless...I then feel it’s not what I want....... Another point is, idk which is better for me Finance or Econ... So because I have no better options than this path to get a degree, and classes will begin this Monday and I didn’t declare a major or chose classes yet 😰 I’m gonna choose classes that exist in both Econ and Finance programs, then I decide later which I want... ... @@tonypantoja2193 Goverment engineering jobs are really underrated. Goverment engineers have much more stable jobs and while you may not start with the highest pay, the more experience you gain the more you will make. I know engineers that started as interns at goverment engineering programs back in their undergrad and then got jobs in those same government positions right out of college while doing their masters. Decades later most of them are doing extremely well off, a lot of them used the many years of experience in goverment to transition over to industry management positions but there are also some who went into the higher level goverment management positions which are jobs that are extremely hard to lose. Goverment benefits are also great. It might not be the most glamorous work but it is really stable and it isn't mindless work either.

What i've learned from these videos is your major is what you make of it. You need to have a plan for what you want to do and maneuver your way to it if it's not something set like nursing. Like I went from bio to psychology in undergrad. I worked in a preschool and became an ABA tech because I knew I wanted to get my master's to help children but didn't know what. That lead me to speech therapy and I am in a master's program now. The only thing I regret is not finding speech therapy before my last semester in undergrad but working with special needs children, and some VERY behavioral has actually helped me handle clinical situations and given me that leg up my peers do not have.

Ive been thinking of going into business since I was in my sophomore year but I felt like Id be looked down on bec all the people around me went into med science and engineering and very science based programs but after finding this channel Im more determined to continue in this choice, because I feel like majoring in business will both support my ideal life style and my preferred idea of financial stability , I also feel like its nice as it has more options and is more flexible and after my research I feel business has the best work/life balance in my opinion and it supports my dream to starting my own business after gaining some experience and insight on the ins and outs of business. I also love all the information shane provides and how straightforward he is, a lot of the time I find people on the internet beat around the bush for some reason but I really appreciate how straightforward shane makes the information.

I'm a statistics major who commuted to a nearby university until corona struck. So now I'm just in my room. I have taken on no student debt, all of my tuition expenses covered by scholarships and grants plus I live with my parents. So hopefully a debtless statistics degree from a pretty decent state school is good.

Now she's become what's known as a "Science Coach" which is essentially teaching other teachers about how best to implement the curriculum. She also gets paid more so that's a plus haha. They don't know which 5% though so they make you learn all of it. ChemE is typically a 5 year major instead of a 4 year major unless you are SUPER dedicated. I’ve been watching your channel a lot recently and after seeing your video about the best double majors I really believe that I want to pursue a double major in electrical engineering and computer science so I can apply my interests in programming and computers as well as my aptitude in maths and physics to solve various problems. My question to you is do you think I should be using a fraction of the vast amount of free time I have at my disposal to teach myself some computer programming skills, such as becoming reasonably fluent in a programming language like Java or Python?

At 14 taking calc and stats. Just my unsolicited opinion. As an engineering grad student, I would say yes learn about these subjects - take one class at a time. There's not rush. From my personal experience - I met friends in my calc classes in college and we struggle together and then some went on my same engjneering field; and it was nice to know them. I guess what I'm trying to say its to enjoy every step of your life - there's not rush..these courses require a lot of work but if you're gifted then go ahead

My dad has a phd in engineering and in nuclear physics. The specific thing he does there are only 3 companies you can work at in the US, but at the same time the specific type of work my dad does there are not a lot of people going for that particular work. And the kicker is it’s not high paying, but the need for What he does will always be there. He really likes what he specifically does and finding out that only a handful of people in the world can handle all the schooling for that career. To be fair his back up was Astronomy. But there was an influx of people going into that degree not realizing that it’s best to have a phd, and not many end up actually completing the bachelor before going another route. Only a few get the phd. Which sucks because all those people that just dropped out, could of given him a spot. Bottom line just because you can buy a keyboard, turntables, pro tools, mixer, studio speakers, and a microphone doesn’t mean you should. Just because you can afford the equipment doesn’t doesn’t mean you are a do. You need to have knowledge of music theory, composition, tempo. That’s like someone going and buying a violin and that making you a violinist.

Aerospace engineer with a master's in mechanical engineering here. Business majors have more fun and have an easier life. Everyone drops out of engineering eventually, to become doctors, start-up companies, or in my case to become a fisherman. I recommend being a plumber, electrician, carpenter, drywaller, painter, fisherman, excavator, flooring, rental property owner, contractor or start a company that actually builds things. Right now you can name your price. People I know that do this and started a company make more than the presidents of large universities. If you really like people then healthcare is a good option based on age demographics in the USA. As is starting up a nursing home/property for older people.

I can say that English and Foreign languages major has high demand in industry depending on which country you live. In English speaking countries you might find it useless because everyone speaks the language, but if you go to countries where English is not widely spoken the situation is other way around. Many companies demand English major grads to fill posts like translation, sales, marketing, policy, legal that require high proficiency in English. Same goes to foreign languages like French, Spanish, Japanese etc. as people wanna learn second or third language to add their skills. They can also work in shared service industry with high pay.. all depend on how you value your major.

Its not a bad choice, but make sure you get experience. Try to get a part time entry level job at a hospital.

I did not pay a dime for my graduate degreees - I was paid a full tuitition stipend and an additional stipend with a teaching assistanceship. My degrees are in environmental engineering and design. Any graduate program outside of medicine, law and business that does not offier a full tuition ride at the very least is essentially saying they are not terribly interested in you.
