Shanks is build different..it is seriously crazy how he lost an arm and he wasn't bothered by it at all..he didn't even cry in pain..nothing He has some otherworldly mental strength and i also believe he is one of the strongest characters in one piece (he duels with mihawk..which is an great example on why he is that strong). He's so strong, the fish even understood what language he was speaking. Also, shanks had a clash with WB with only one arm, and it split the sky. Soon after that, Shanks made it so Kaido couldn't go to marineford. Shanks went tho. So unless kaido is a super nice guy, shanks beat him. Kaido has also stated that shanks is one of the few people strong enough to defeat him. How is shanks weaker than kaido now?

Physically he isn't Kaido or big mom or wb but haki wise he would smoke most if not all of them, and as it relates to losing his arm he did it as a sacrifice to show luffy that pirate life is a serious thing. Let's look at this logically; shanks at that point quite possibly had all three types of haki and probably mastered them as well so with that being said, wouldn't he be able to see the sea king coming with observation? And after seeing that sea king wouldn't the next move be to just coat his arm in armament haki to stop it being bitten off?. Shanks is not weak as WB said he gave away that arm.

Shanks is the character whose haki was being hyped since the beginning: The first person to show haki in the story. And the only character (whose alive) whose haki was so infamous that even the Whitebeard Pirates acknowledge it. His haki is also being shown as so powerful not only in the story but, also in games.

It would be kind of elite if Shanks could make himself an arm using a combination of Conqueror's and Armament Haki. We've seen people coat their weapons in Haki, so manifesting physical objects seems like the logical evolution to that. It would bring a whole new level of legitimacy to Shanks' status as an Emperor, as that's a level of Haki control that we've never witnessed before.

Mihawk has to be the WGS because Shanks and him tied in the past so technically Mihawk is still the WGS but Shanks rn is stronger than Mihawk but won't fight for the title because Mihawk refuses so that is why Mihawk is still the WGS. the episode where shanks loses his arm may indicate hat at that point, shanks didn't know awareness haki falling for the smoke bomb or armament haki having lost his arm. in fact, having lost his arm could have been the near death moment which awakened his conquerors haki setting in motion shanks rise to become a yonko. shanks knew that the name D was important, and could be part of why shanks was nice and protective of luffy. the incident with luffy causing him to lose his arm changed shanks whole life perhaps, and you cannot deny that shanks has changed the world as a result.

I think shanks is equal to other yonko lv characters like Roger , WB, garp, sengoku, mihawk ,Rayleigh, rocks etc. But the thing which creates difference is his crew ... Ben Beckman is said to be on same level as physical combact to him .. luck roo is one of the fastest character.. yassop introduction is set to be done by garp and is said to be oneof the most fierce pirates... That is impossible, as it was shown and stated during the Kozuki Oden flash back that Shanks and Buggy were left behind, to never see Roger again before he was on the scaffold for his execution, before the Oro Jackson set sail for the final island, Raftel. And while Shanks could have asked Rayleigh or one of Roger's other former crew about what they discovered on Raftel, his personality seems to be cut from the same cloth as our protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, meaning he wouldn't do so.

There’s one line of Dialogue from Big Mom that really hypes up Shanks that I think you missed. I’m paraphrasing here since I don’t remember which chapter it was in to find the quote. The thing about Shanks, IMO is this...He was raised by Roger and prob taught by Rayleigh...Rayleigh and Roger both figured out the way to strength in the Onepiece world. It's not a D.F. (they can be defeated by Haki) Haki, (esp Conqueror's is the strongest force in the world and apparently is a rare thing) Roger, Rayleigh knew this and taught it to Shanks, who they saw also had it. So fast forward all these years and think about Shanks training and perfecting his Haki use. (Everything Rayleigh taught Luffy we have to assume he taught Shanks) That's the power Shanks is working with, his Haki bloom is the greatest in the story, next to Roger. I think he's so strong that if he dies it's going to be because he lays down his life for Luffy...not because B.B. takes it from him. As OP as B.B. is, he's still no match for Shanks, Haki, stated by Kaido is the most powerful thing in the story and Shanks, or Rayleigh (living characters), have the strongest, from what we know as of now.

I see Shanks' combat prowess is like 2 sides of a coin. 1) He is like the white cell demon in Toriko; rarely made an appearance but once he come out, no one can stand a chance of winning against him 2) He is not the strongest Yonko but cuz his challenged with his whole crew at Marinefort, even Blackbeard didn't wanna take a risk. Before that, it was Blackbeard and his crews against Sengoku and Garp (assuming the 3 Admiral were busy fighting WB's pirates) which weirdly didn't seem to bother BB.

I think the Darkness Fruit Blackbeard ate, isn’t a logia. Kinda like Gum Gum turned out to be a Mythical Zoan, Black Beard’s darkness fruit is likely also a Mythical Zoan. It would explain why he can’t phase through attack like most Logia. It is instead a mythical figured associated with darkness, like Cerberus or Hades. Zoan Fruits modify the bodies of its users, essentially acting like a passive, not unlike Luffy’s Rubber body and Chopper’s bipedalism. If it’s an afterlife related mythical, the ability to cheat devil fruit rules would make sense.

I feel lik shanks is the more powerful overall and would win in a one on one fight with mihawk. People try to make the argument that mihawk is stronger because he won’t fight shanks because he sees him as unworthy. Although I see where that comes from, I don’t think that’s the reason. I think it’s more likely that what gozen said is more accurate. I think mihawk doesn’t see it as a fair fight. The only way I see mihawk over coming shanks is In our swordsmanship skill. In almost every other category I can only see shanks coming on top. That’s just what I think. And not hate to the people who disagree with me. This is why we debate and stuff. To find answers.

Shanks is legitimately an enigma at this point I would say. He could wind up being exactly as he's been portrayed, a solid ally and mentor to Luffy or we may be in for one of those giant twists. He could have orchestrated much of the story from behind the scenes and be a true bad guy ultimately. Wel see, I'm hoping he's good but there's no telling the future
