Kayjuku Just go look at the amount of views, comments, likes, and dislikes on a segment about the Cowboys, and especially LeBron. Then go compare that, to the same on a segment about Giannis, Harden, Kahwi, the Rockets, the Rams, the Giants, the Heat, or the Blazers. The HUGE difference in viewer interaction is the reason why.

One lost life is too many. But when you focus on a dozen tragic losses of life while you ignore 100s.....whos really clueless? More good conversation has come out of Drew making the mistake than ever would have happened if he had just come out initially and understood. I think what Shannon was saying is that the black community was so hurt because they felt betrayed by someone that they loved and who they thought loved them. I think he does love the people in that community but needed to learn more. I think that education, learning and changing minds is what we're going for here, right. So when a man makes a mistake and wants to learn more, let him change, you'd want the same for you if you make a mistake.

Ms . Schuyler, you are absolutely right. But honestly, I sincerily feel that Brees need not be questioned for his choice of words neither for how he routed his view and opinion. To me, though I am black, and though I am impacted by George Floyd's unjust treatment which led to his unfortunate passing, I feel that he spoke from an angle that should respected because that's predominantly a dynamic or angle that he's naturally familiar with. That's why he mentioned his grandfathers as a reference as to why he stands for the flag because despite all that's going on, "his loyalty" to the flag is based on a nature and foundation of honor that he's grown to naturally understand, justly embrace and faithfully live up to. He even mentioned in his original statement "of which many felt So'OO violated by", that "not only are we as a country far from being perfect" but he also stated that "there is much that goes on in our country that shouldn't" automatically referring to the unjust event at hand. I understand how it comes off as insensitive to Mr. Floyd's case but it's really not. And because of the great person that Brees is and considering the various delicate dynamics which surrounds this matter and recent ones as well as the "what was suppose to be peaceful protests" which totally disrespects Mr. Floyd's death, is why he chose his words accordingly. Brees will always have my unbiased honor and support.

I agree 100%. To assume that Drew Brees "doesn't get it" is assanine! Drew never once said he disagreed with what this protest represents. He simply stated IN HIS OPINION, The National Anthem is sacred and represents the Freedom his Grandpa's fought for. The NFL will soon find out that most Americans are unhappy with the kneeling.

I listened to this segment of the show live. Kudos To Shannon! I hope Drew “Gets It” and uses his leadership position as a way to be an ally. He needs to get this right from here forward. If not, the locker room and playing field will become so untenable for him!

Gets what?? That he is proud to be american... We got problems but where else is better... And govt oppression is color blind... Im polish we were slaves.. Never owned em.. But yet im thrown in tje white guilt pile...

OUR government’s suppression is not “color blind”. Polish people were never slaves on American soil. Were Africans the first and only people to ever be enslaved in the history of the world? No. But we’re not dealing with world history, we’re dealing with American history and how it still impacts us today. Your “guilt” is your response to that history. I’m white and I don’t feel guilt, but I do feel responsible for my country, its history and how it is still getting people killed today, especially given the values we say we are committed to.

@@jumpingjackthorn2502 Except that has nothing to do with people trying to take away Brees job for an opinion. I have nothing against the protest and am for police reform. But this entire Brees situation is everything that's wrong with this country right now, social media and cancel culture. This stuff is why Trump got elected and will get relected unfortunately.

For descendants of Black soldiers who fought for freedoms abroad and came back to the US and face discrimination and abuse, his comments felt hateful and racist. However, it sounds like Drew understands that now.
