This is an eye opener. I am so glad to know that traditional Shaolin still exists despite all the changes it has gone through. The way that the new monks are doing Xiao Hong Chuan or any other Shaolin forms right now lean more towards wushu. I think I am fortunate to have learned from one of the first Shaolin monks who came to the US.

Those young men are gifted to be treated to such knowledge as it will spill over into many other areas of their development both cognitively and physically, leading to them being successful on their roads of life. My God bless you with continued good health and prosperity. I wished I could treat you to visiting Florida so to train with your young men on the beautiful beaches here. thank you master for your lessons. when i was a kid in 80'sin Algeria i was very excited to see shaolin movies or anything related to karate. but after years i took another path. i still like the movements and philosofy.and sometimes we need it against some insane poeple i mean defence only.my first movie when i was a kid is called shaoline against lama (trans french).and that time in 80's there was plenty of us who started to learn from an old man who teach us karate-do shotokan, then some of student get degrees belts and become teachers too. but i remember my teacher was beating us with an electric wire or a stick anything when we make mistakes it was his way to correct our movements, he was not that bad he was just trying to teach us his way but they were nice souvenirs.thank you !

In the heart of kung Fu comes youth as I read the comments. That purity is inside you, don't you forget it. It's like fresh air and unconditional love for all living things. How would I know? I was once young too ... Now even though I have scoliosis, my mother getting sick, my life covered in such darkness from the outside world. I will never give up on my purity. Why? For the kids, the younglings out there. They need and shall receive guidance to control their emotions and fears. Stay Strong 💪

Since I was a kid, I have always been enamored by how amazing shaolin kung-fu and other martial arts are. However, with maturity comes the realization that these things only work well in the realm of fantasy. Real world physics just do not blend well with our powers of imagination. Nevertheless, I am still happy for the gift of cinema and video gaming wherein magical stuff happens and we can appreciate these things there.

Hi Justin, thanks for your comment. We're not planning on making any applications-only video for Xiaohongquan anytime soon. But you should definitely have a look at this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJTMcmSgZtqDm80 This is also from a well preserved traditional lineage of shaolin; the very talented practitioner is a student of Cui Zhongwu, if I'm correct. Don't forget that for most movements, there are tons of applications (and interpretations), partly because one should be able to perform them at different distances of the opponent(typically hand&feet / elbow&knee / shoulder&hip distances) and in different situations & angles (left, right, crossed; high&low, etc...) - while keeping the same dynamics. Now add in the variations in striking areas, other interpretations, etc. and you already have over 10 potential applications for the same move. www.shaolinxinyiba.org

Oh I got it :-D Thank you very much shifu! may I know do you have any Facebook?
@justinasher11568 жыл бұрын
Shifu I learned all movements of Traditional xiao hong quan by watching your video...Now I'm developing it by correcting my mistakes..again Thanks a lot ! Maybe i can upload my xiao hong quan video soon :-D
It's nearly impossible to learn from videos. Because there is no one to correct you and something simply cannot be learned from video like relaxation. Correcting your own mistakes is extremely hard because to correct the mistakes you need to be on the level of an instructor. Even if a form might look simple it still can be very difficult to learn. I'm a Wing Chun practitioner and I know all the forms and their applications still I always practice the first form over and over again. I still get corrected by my sifu which makes me think that it's impossible to become good. Learning from videos can only be good if you already have the experience or you already learned the form and use the video as a reference. Fighting is a different game, just by learning a form from a video and its applications doesn't mean you can pull it off in a fight. You need to spar a lot, you need to know how to use your power and breathing etc.
