Gut and scale the whole fish. Wrap it in alfoil with olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. Pop it on the webber to cook indirectly. When its ready, eat one side then flip it over, peel off the bone frame and eat the other side. Great with sticky rice or salad.

Such an amazing area up there. Watching the video and grinding my teeth because I have no idea when we will get the chance to go north again. For mackerel get a portable smoker, they are simply delicious smoked.

Great spot camped there many times You get plenty of big snapper if you fish the ledge In the evening, when you work that one out you won’t bother fishing in the morning It can be a very dangerous place on a big swell, those cliffs look very menacing Looks like you guys winged some perfect weather

A mate and I had a booking at the same time but had to cancel unfortunately so I'll enjoy your trip and do Shelter Bay and Steep Point vicariously via KZbin. Those first couple of sand dunes had me thinking too! I was going to tow a trailer in.

Had a good laugh at the life jacket inflating on you. We had a similar thing happen while getting Crays out of the pot. The brother in laws caught on the pot and went off. Bloody laughed hard 😂

Ha we were in the area last month and it’s a carnage run out to steep point- a pajero had popped a rear window, couple of young fellas with a broken leaf on their boat trailer and a bunch of bits from vehicles. We even found two tyre deflators, a broken one and a good one. The run up Peron had some soft patches also where you could see folks had spent some time bogged

The two Corrugation Iron dunes are quite a challenge when the sand is powder dry. The year before the Sydney and Kormoran were discovered Steep Points had had 5 mm to mid May and the sand was extremely dry We got down to 15 pounds in the Prado and 13 pounds in the trailer before we had enough traction to complete the trip in. We maxed out at 40 kmh.

A good video, thanks for sharing. I think you have installed manual free wheeling hubs in your DMax. I can guess the reason for this but you tell me anyway. I have a new model DMax and I am aware, at least I think the CV's and drive train back to the transfer case rotate all the time in 4x2. My old model BT50 had a button RFH, once 4WD was deselected you could press the button and stop the from diff drive train from rotating, a good idea compared to the DMax. Never mind the new BT50 is the same as DMax. Spanish and spotted mackerel are good eating when filleted, most steak them but they taste terrible like all pelagics when steaked.

That road out to useless loop has to be the worst corrugated road it WA. I lost a set of spot lights and side mirror when I had a job for shark bay resources minesite. Mind you I was in a bouncy truck.

Worked perfectly. We were all making video calls back to the family every night and able to get weather reports ect. Its fast, easy to set up/pack down and stable. Only things negative I can say about it is that it uses a fair amount of power, its bulky and the plans are expensive.
