OMG!!!!! thank you, thank you, I bought my vacuum May of 2021 so it's not even two years old, I was getting ready to call shark, I had cleaned out every piece of dust hair / debris and it still wouldn't spin, before I call they decided to Google it and you have video came up, that is one thing I had not done, I had removed the little cover over the belt and I had here and there that I removed but it still didn't work, so I just did what you did and no more flashing of the light and it's rolling like it's brand new, you know you're getting old when you fix your vacuum and it's the most exciting thing that's happened and sometime!!! 😂

OMG - I tried your technique and it Worked - My vacuum is in Full Swing Again !!!! I had this vacuum for 2 years now and I thought it Hit the Dust, Lol.. But your instructions Saved it for Me... I also was able to get the other end off too with a regular pliers and there was also hair plugged in there too, so you might have to try it again. Now if this 70 yr old lady can fix it, so can anyone else. Thanks again, you saved me from purchasing another vacuum. Also really love this vacuum, it's my 2nd one of this same kind, I think the 1st one went also when the brush wouldn't turn anymore. You are a Life Saver !! 😄I just love going on KZbin to learn how to fix things. Thanks Again !!😃👌 Clare ...

Brilliant. THIS WORKS. If you're here looking for answers, do this first! (before replacing battery, opening it entirely up, etc - not like we did, sigh). We cleaned both sides of the brush (really had to work to pry the plastic off), added some lubricant before putting the plastic caps back on, and now the brush spins beautifully. Also, really appreciate that you kept your struggles in. Couldn't appreciate this video more. Thank you!!

Earlier this year, I trash picked a shark navigator (lavender) NV 22L. And I just recently trash picked a shark navigator “professional“ UV 420 26. Both of them had the same brush roll problem with the non-belt side. I managed to cannibalize a bearing and a plastic black brush roll endcap off of the “professional“ model to fix the brush roll on my lavender navigator. It’s working so far after initial testing. But I must give it the test of time to be sure that it doesn’t fall apart again. Since I do not have pets, I don’t have to worry about cat hair gumming up the brush roll works again.

You are a lifesaver! I had this very same vacuum in this very same problem. I even called the company and of course, they wanted me to buy a brand new vacuum! No thank you. I like the one I have. I took mine apart and there was a ton of hair in the little part you pull off the brush thank you so much for putting this video out there it really saved us a lot of money
@LauraE-iv9sy Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I loved that you didn't edit out pulling on the wrong end. That made the video totally relatable. I had cleaned the brush and filters, unclogged, even went through manual to find out how to open the roller. I cleaned out the roller connectors but didn't think I could get the end off so I pulled as much hair as I could see. I just missed pulling off the white end, but that was exactly my problem.
@GoldenNugget. Жыл бұрын
And by the way both white ends do come off when using a regular pliers. I found hair wound up in both ends..

I wasn’t able to pull the other side off with pliers. I cleaned mine again and beater bars still don’t work.

I seriously cannot get over how well this vacuum works🌼 I had a Dyson animal model and had vacuumed my area rugs a week ago with it. When this arrived, I tried it and am blown away by how much better it works. Easy to put together, simple buttons, and my rugs have never looked so free of animal hair and dirt. The can was completely full after I finished 3 rugs, telling me it was picking up dirt, dust, and animal fur that had been missed for a while. I love this vacuum and am completely impressed with its performance.

The other videos did not show removing the end piece opposite the belt, but following your video, I pulled off the opposite end as well. It made snapping noises and it was like it had been glued in and I was afraid I had broken it. No hair visible, however, now both ends would turn which seemed necessary and, hurray, now the vacuum cleaner works again. Thank you!

Thank you for this! Its kept my lil shark going for so long, through all the pet hair and dander that was clogging things up. I did call shark to see if i could get a new brush roll somehow, even after repairing. When I told the customer service agent that I had been repairing my own, he laughed at me, as if he was questioning the possibility of it even being repaired?! Lol mechanics my dear boy... its a thing! I do love this little vacuum and may at some point just replace the whole new head unit. Thank you so much for sharing!!

Thanks, your video was very helpful! One thing I'd mention is that the other side does come off, sort of. When you grab it with the needle nose pliers, instead of prying it up, trying rocking it side to side as you lift. A plastic piece just like the other side comes off, but it leaves behind a brass bushing, which seems like it's permanently installed. If you use a flathead screwdriver you can partially pry up the geared section that attaches to the belt too, which is useful at the end. Once the initial plastic piece is off, you can reach down between the geared section and the brass bushing and pull out the hair. I used an awl and needle nose pliers to work it all out, but it takes a while. Once you're done you can put the plastic piece back on, but you might not be able to drive the brass bushing all the way back up inside. That's where prying up the geared section comes in handy. You're basically raising the floor, so if you do that, it helps drive the bushing all the way up inside the plastic piece. I also used an empty screwdriver that takes bits as a tap and gently tapped the knob back down, it does take a little more force than you might be able to exert with your fingers alone.

Thank you! I've often wondered about that other side. I guess I need to work with it a bit more, because it definitely has hair stuck in it!

Both ends can be removed to clean the clogged hair. In my cleaner, one end could be removed just like your video. The other end, I could removed the plastic square "thing" and had the bearing left on the axil. I pull the axil out a little bit to clean the clogged hair. Make sure you push the axils (both end) all the way in before inserting to the vacuum cleaner, otherwise the brush would not rotate. Happy fixing !

We removed the brush and cleaned out both sides of it since the one side didn’t do the trick. Once we cleaned the other side (the side you said wasn’t the right side) then ours worked. It was so tight with hair that it looked like a tiny black washer when it wasn’t. It was just tightly wound hair. Hahahaa

We just bought a shark for the second time. First one had it about a week and used it maybe 3 times not for a long period of time and the bar stopped turning. Returned it and used the new one today for the 2nd time and after 5 mins of regular use the bar stopped. I really like the Shark but don’t like this with this bar not moving. We shouldn’t have a lot of hair in in after a couple uses. :-/ Thank you for your video.

I actually got the otherside off. I'm not sure if it was supposed to come off either. But that side was the side that wasn't rotating and causing the problem. I cleaned it up and it's been working so far. Hopefully it keeps going for a while. It's a shame when manufacturers make you buy a new product because they won't make or sell a cheap replacement part.
