I use the ice shaker with a blenderball added and it mixes extremely well. I've had at least half a dozen blender bottles fail over the years, usually something in the lid breaks which prompted me to go with the heavier duty ice shaker

I had a lid break while it was on top of a desk and I was staring at it. Basically, the "dome" part cracks at the base. In fact, I had multiple lids break like that and could never figure out why.

Blender Bottle can actually have a huge leaking problem due to its lid occasionally not catching fully - but if you focus on what your doing, it's a very decent shaker. I rotate three regularly.

I've had 5 or 6. Only one leaked, and that was caused by a crack in the lid. I had it for roughly 6 years. Maybe many more.

I use a shaker for general mixing: eggs for omelettes and scrambled, pancake mix, drinks, and many more. It works great. I don’t need the extra features.

The Ice Shaker is a solution in search of a problem. If your shake is going to be in the bottle long enough to need insulation, you don't need an agitator for the shake to be mixed by the time you drink it. If you do need to mix your shake on the spot, you'd likely benefit more from the lighter weight of a plastic bottle in your duffle bag. I'd much rather have a superior insulated bottle and/or a superior shaker bottle than one bottle combining the drawbacks of both. _[edited for grammar]_

It is perfect for someone like me who uses it in place of my yeti bottle on days that i also want to mix protein powder. (I can mix it in the Yeti but it’s a pain to clean. 😂)

I find blender bottles at thrift stores for $2 all the time. I use them to make ranch and honey mustard. They come in handy. The lid is not the best design for that because some of the ranch can spill around the edges and sometimes it will dry and get crusty. But as long as you maintain the opening of the bottle these bottles are great

I have one of the stainless steel version of the blender bottle. It stays cold for a long time but ice deff don't last 30 hours.

I don't know why exactly but I don't like drinking out of metal cups. Although I really like the quietness and the sweat proofness, it would be really hard for me to shell out 36 bucks for a cup lol

All the research I've done on these comes from old B&W movies. The proper way to shake it is to shake them one at a time. You place one hand on top and one hand on the bottom and shake vigorously. It helps if you have big band music playing in the background and you shake to the beat.

The best protein shaker cup I had was Cyclone Shaker Bottle but they went out of business I guess. Or rebranded as Alpha Elite Performance that's the only place I can find them now. Would love to see you do a review on that.

My favorite shaker has been the contigo branded one. Heavy ball, with a rounded bottom interior so none of the powder gets clumped, I have had it for years, and doesn't smell after daily use. I will say, with that heavy ball, its extremely loud

Good reviews. The round shaped bottom on the Bottle Shaker is a good idea. I mix a beverage powder with hot water in a ceramic coffee cup, the powder does get stuck on the bottom with a standard cup. So I did order a coffee cup with a rounded bottom, the powder does mix much better/easier.

I have a Gatorade one of those... shakes stuff up extremely, really well and immensely fast. it uses a blender ball, too.. I only make Gatorade in it though, blends 💯% completely, everytime.

I still have my Blender Bottle from 2009-2010. It's still going strong 💪🏼 Metal eventually rusts, so in terms of longevity, Blender Bottle beats Ice Shaker by a wide margin.

I have two ice shakers, and I absolutely love them. They are very durable, the coating on mine doesn't wear down easily (only truly wear I've dropped them), and stay ice cold for my entire shift at work. The only complaint I have on them, I can say the lids are a little hard to clean, they have little crevices that can be difficult to clean.

@@bradasstv yeah he does them once in a while and when he does he doesn't announce that he is going to which throws a lot of people off because when he does his streams the time is often around 10 am Vegas time so for people here on the east coast often miss his streams due to being busy with other things. I've been a subscriber to him for a long time and i haven't caught any of his streams because he does them without ever sending any alerts so i usually get the notification as a video after the stream is over.

The best way to make a protein shake is to shake it and stick it in the fridge for later. When you plan to drink it give a very gentle mix. No more frothy protein shakes. Everything dissolved. Turns out more like the pre made stuff.

I actually find the iceshaker kind of annoying to clean. that o-ring has no easy way to pull it off like a tab, and liquids other than water can get trapped under that ring and get moldy. I had to use an ice pick to remove the ring by stabbing into it.

Replace whey protein with Essential Amino Acids and you'll get MUCH better results. I like the Blender Bottle. I do 1 Tbsp EAAs, 1 heaping tsp of potassium, pure cocoa powder, and stevia. I take that twice a day. Don't really need the ball. I like seeing how many Oz of water I'm adding, but any sealed bottle would probably work. I personally don't care much for metal bottles/cups, but I'd use one in a pinch.

Nothing over a period of 4 years daily beats the spiral metal spring. I have to mix 120grams with 400 mls of water and everything else just clags or doesnt mix fully. Guess its how much powder you use.

You can just buy knock off blender balls on Amazon and use whatever container you want. Cheapest and best option. Plus the balls are dishwasher safe.

Can you do a real strength test with them and take them up on top of the stratosphere and drop them off? I’d be interested in knowing which one could survive 1000 foot drop. Then do it again with both of them filled and see if any lids pop off! Then run like crazy because the cops are probably going to be chasing you!

I've used walmart brand double insulated drink cups and those easily keep ice for 30 hours or longer. I don't know how they make those things but dang. Did you keep the lid on during your 30 hour test?

He said that the test is done with the lid off. Which kinda struck me as odd, but after the 30 hours, there was that one piece of ice and other one had all melted. But, yeah, I would have thought the guarantee was with the lid on. Like who keeps the lid off for 30 hours?

The top for the ice shaker gets gross quickly and stays stinky. I’ve soaked it with the seal removed and it still stinks. Biggest plus is that it keeps ice icy 😁 but the agitator holds chunks

I use a cheap blender bottle to mix my smoothie but have always then poured the liquid into another container. I don't see the need to pay for the more expensive blender bottle for this reason.

Ice shaker is great , I’ve had mine for a couple of months and keeps drinks cold/ hot for soo hours and it leaves no odee and easy too clean , I bought a helimix recently and I know it’ll be better

I have the ice shaker and really like it, and I hate everything. Lol. Ok that may sound a bit harsh, but I expect things to work as advertised. And the ice shaker works really well. Protein gets stuck in the lid. Which does suck, but it works well.

I’m actually not surprised the metal bottle had some ice left in it. Metal conducts temperature better than plastic. I would like to have seen a third bottle… made of metal but another brand and less expensive.

Spending 30.00 for a shaker cup is for the people that spend 100.00 for a undershirt. Those blender bottles and even some cheaper ones from Walmart will do just as good as the ice shaker for as little as 1/5th the price.

I have a 46ish oz BlenderBottle though I only ever used it for ice water after ancient gas station 34oz cup that had been in my family broke. My only complaint with it was the cap on it broke after being screwed on twice gently.

You didn't give the two bottles a 'fair shake.' You could've shaken the two bottles more vigorously. If you had done that, I don't think there would've been no lumps. Another use for the shaker bottles would be pancake or waffle batter. You could pour the batter into the frypan from the nozzle.

I for one don't mind some noise while using a shaker bottle and as for the ice test that seems pointless as who keeps ice in a shaker bottle for more than a few minutes to maybe an hour if you drink right from it. Given that i cannot justify the cost difference between the two and would by the cheaper of the two as for me at least those "Bells and whistles" just do not justify the price.

Those bells and whistles are ridiculous, When you make a shake you would probably drink it right away. If not, you'd refrigerate it. The cheaper one is just as good for what they are intendant to do. I like your comparisons but most people probably prefer the blender bottle.
