I watched many, many videos on bindings. Everyone had their opinion on what to do and how to do it. But I still didn't feel confident when it came to binding . This video has been out since 2011 and I'm seeing it for the first time in 2023. It's the best. Sharon explained what to do, how to do it, and WHY you should do it that way. I'm now looking *forward* to binding my quilts!

I’ve been sewing for nearly 70 years! Never had I seen the loop knot at the eye of the needle. I want to cry with joy at that instruction as in the past I must have rethreaded my needle “a hundred” times when sewing on binding! Thank you so much for your wonderful instruction.

I did her Silk Society Stash applique and embroidery quilt and learned about "casting on" the tread to the needle. It's just great to not be losing the tread all the time.

I was told by the lady who runs my quilting group that my binding was "okay, but needed some work." So a friend told me to find this here on youtube, and I proceeded to use it for my next quilt. When I turned it in (they're all charity quilts) the lady said, "Whoa, check out those corners! So sharp! This is great binding!!!" The method is time consuming, but completely worth it. If you're going to take the time to make a quilt, the take the time to do the binding properly. It can make the difference between "eh" and "WOW!"

I’ve been using Sharon’s method for my bindings and they come out beautifully every time. I turn on the video and re-watch it, stopping and re-starting every step of the way as I apply the binding just because I don’t make quilts often enough to have this memorized. LOVE the glue basting; so much more efficient than pins. I wash my quilts once completed and all the glue comes out and the corners are still sharp. Thanks Sharon for your vast knowledge and for sharing your expertise.

I come back to your site of this wonderful way to do my bindings with every quilt/wall hanging I do....By far the best and easiest!!! Thank you....This last project was heavy duck cotton, I think that is what they used to call it. The thickness of Levi's ....I had issues with the glue holding....so I had to use the wonder clips to help hold the binding in place even with the glue.....Just very THICK fabric....but the bindings turned out well! Thank you again!!!

Do not fear the glue! I use lots of glue. I use it for precision piecing (and binding). Glue is a great stabilizer of any biased cut piecing. Sharon's daughter Cristy Fincher has some videos on glue basting. You can also use it for production work...no pins, no finger sticks or sticking to other stuff.

You use the phrase that the binding is under control And, that the binding now knows that I am it's master! Love it! Will let you know how my quilt does in judging.

Sharon, than you for this marvelous exposition. I used this method today, and I ended up with a perfectish binding. My corners were beautifully mitered, but I still need to work on the front/back balance. I found that pressing the corners took all of the guess work out of stopping into the corner and starting out of it. Also, gluing the binding worked beautifully. This video and technique will allow any (I'm a novice) to bind a quilt. I know that practice makes perfect...and by not having to manhandle the binding (glue!), or guess about the corner, then one can concentrate on the seam.

Wow! What a great instructional video! I’ve struggled with bindings for as long as I’ve been making quilts...I actually cringe when I get to this point, but I can’t wait to try your way. I’ve been using 1/4” steam a seam along my edge to secure instead of using binding clips, this is much cheaper...I also didn’t know to fold your binding into thirds to know where to stitch so the minding is even on both sides! Thank you!!
