Helpful video, great that you showed the disc you use to sharpen with 👍, I got a new biscuit jointer a couple of years ago now upgraded to a Makita from a cheap one so should be ok for about 18 more years before requiring a clean and service on the Gid maintenance schedule 👌👌👌👍👍👍🇦🇺

Thanks n good glad it might be helpful, I too bought a Makita 18v for site stuff, I'm trying to go totally cordless on site but using that Makita, how smooth n sharp it cut pointed out how old n tired this one was,

I think that little bit of metal is to stop stupid people losing a finger by poking it where they shouldn’t whilst the sharp blade does it’s spinning. Another brilliant video- thanks Gid

Thanks for the recommendation for that disc. We had a cheap sharpener for saw blades. It worked ok, but the disc on it was far too course. Used it on a few cheap saw blades that we use for outdoor projects/demo work, but even on those it couldn't do much good. Forgot about it after that, but it would come in handy for stuff like this.

Hi, no prob, like i said in the vid i had to open up the bore a little with a step drill bit, but as you saw it runs pretty true, I've sharpened a dozen or more rip blades with it 👍

Seeing some new tools in these latest videos, new grinder and Tormek bench grinding station in this one😀
@Gidjoiner2 жыл бұрын
Yep i finally splashed out on the Tormek to sharpen my turning tools when i did that finial thing, I wanted to go totally cordless but here were many tools i wanted Makita not Bosch, so since i bought that Makita cordless plunge saw it's been a slippery slope, I have been working just not filming so much so haven't seen them but have now almost got rid of most of my corded tools, 👍🤸♂️🤸♂️😊👍

That blades done well to be not sharpened before now, but you managed to get an edge on it nice one.👍 I send my blades off to be sharpened and some times you can still ride bare A**E to London on them and not cut yourself they barely touch them sometimes. Did it not come with a dust collection bag ! I took the bag of mine and used the straight connector to connect to the extractor no issues with blockages at all. Finally, try some Dry PTFE Spray from Toolstation to lubricate the slider. Due to being a dry lubricant the dust doesn't stick, I use it one the bed on the planer, thicknesser, spindle and table saw as well as on the blades to reduce friction.

Yeah it's done well, it's the orig unsharpened one, I have to travel 7miles to a place who then send them off to get sharpened, that takes a wk to get them back, so low no' rip blades & things like this i'll do myself, if i spoil them they're for the bin but they normally seem to do ok, It prob came with a bag but yeah i've a straight connector & i use the vac if i'm in a house, it's a bit unwieldy tho with the pipe on n i don't mind a bit of dust in the shed, you might have noticed 👍😂 n thanks for the ptfe mention but i avoid like the plague a lot of things like oil & that, esp anything Silicone, that's creates fisheyes in the spray paint, just a single atom of silicone can cause havoc, somebody polishing their car interior next door could blow it in on the wind, i don't know about the synthetic ptfe but anything like that i just avoid,

Jeez Gid we are well spoilt with videos tonight 👍👏, funny enough I thought it sounded as if it was struggling a bit in one of the earlier video's. , But it's not struggling anymore. My biscuit cutter is ancient aswell but it still works fine

😂 more vids to come 👍 It has slowly over time become a little harder to work with & every time i've told myself i'll sort it out, but the jobs gets done n it gets put to one side, a little while ago i bought a cordless Makita jointer for site, it cuts like a knife through butter, so doing this job & watching it while editing inspired me, today was the day, n it only took my ½hr 😂🤦♂️🤷♂️😂

@@Gidjoiner That was a top notch tune up Sir, 👍 The biscuit joiner is a much maligned tool but I'm a fan of them for certain jobs. I use them along with pocket screws for pieces that are either difficult or impossible to clamp. I have a 110V Makita biscuit joiner. It's a good tool and like most Makita tools it's well built and reliable. I'm waiting for Makita to release an 18V brushless version. Handy to have in the van for jobs. Once I have one of those I could nearly retire my old 110V transformer. It's a pain lugging that bloody thing around, 🙄 😆 🔨 🇮🇪

Thanks much appreciated 👍 Yeah that was a crappy little vid that took 10mins to make, i put it on YT just to share with friends on Facebook because YT has better res, but one day i decided to change it from Private to Public & share it with the world, the numbers went through the roof, prob is it's under 8mins so i couldn't put midroll adds in, i get no £s for the add you Skip at the start & nobody stays around for the adds at the end, I got a new cordless Makita mitre saw from it though, YT eventually stomped on my parade & deemed it 'Unsuitable & shocking' which limited any add revenue to £0, 😒 Yeah if all my vids that i spend hrs making did that well 🤸♂️🤸♂️🤸♂️🤷♂️

Are you saying you don't want me to put an annoying noisy 30sec clip to the start of my vids, then stand in front of the camera waffling about pointless crap for half the vid, then show just a few bits of work done with a few unrelated pics/clips thrown in, & finish with some paid promotion & some begging to sub, like my vids & check out my other channel ?? 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤔😂😂😂 Thankyou 👍😊
