Incase you could not tell, this is an Animatic for the Dream SMP. That means that all of these people are in fact made of Blocks from the hit game Minecraft. Made by the man himself, Philza (Ph1lza) Minecraft. You thought this was based on a book or something? Nope! This is Minecraft Server Roleplay. Usually Minecraft is a Funny Game, and it can be up to 2000% funnier, depending on how charismatic your friends are. But this is not Funny Minecraft Moments, oh no.. this is Edgy Minecraft Moments. Soul-Crushing minecraft moments. Starring in this Animatic are memorable characters, like Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Tubbo, Dream (DreamWasTaken,) Awesamdude, Technoblade, Quackity, and uhhhh…. Michael? I don't know about you, but Michael is my favorite character on the Dream SMP. There's so much… Lore. So many Lores in fact, that I am terrified just thinking about it! Speaking of terrified, Tommyinnit is terrified in this Animatic. This is a very Serious and Angsty Animatic, viewer discretion is advised.
OK I think that's a decent keyword salad. Let's move on.
…..have I lost everyone yet? Okay now for the stuff just for my beloved pals:
I'll be honest, this animatic did not want to get made. I'm sure you'll notice how it took a lot longer to make, but that's not just because of the runtime. Although the length is impressive. No really though, stuff just kept coming up. And then we had that lore gap, so I was kind of just freewheeling until I had some more events to draw… it's been a bit of a mess. Needless to say, I am exhausted mentally and physically. Not sure what that means for future projects, but if you're reading this then there's a really good chance you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, so you'll know how things shake out. Who knows, maybe I'll actually end up doing one of those smaller projects I keep mentioning… instead of making increasingly longer and more complicated retellings of the basic lore.
We'll see.

I love how Wilbur isn't shattered like Tommy. He instead glitches to symbolize how his current state is corrupted and missing something to function normally: Ghostbur. This attention to detail is GORGEOUS!!!

I love how at 3:59 you can see everyone at the banquet, and everyone who isn't infected by the egg is grey but those who are are red. I also love how you can see bbh's halo, and how Hannah is also red!

@@vendi_605 Not necessarily! The way the colours are used are to represent c!Tommy's (in this case, as it is an animatic mostly based on his POV) or maybe the audience's perspectives on characters. You can see that c!Sam is colored grey, but after the Ghostbur incident you can see he turned red! Showing that c!Tommy now sees him as untrustworthy.

i love the red behind Wilbur- like how red the sunrise is. really adds to the idea that everyone is convinced a villains returned. Then his face is drawn as friendly, which shows that maybe he has changed, or at least people perceive him as havung changed.

Although the animation doesn't really show things from Dream's perspective, I really think the song reflects his personality. The line, "You can take all you want but not who I am," clearly shows Dream's place in power. Even when he was put into prison and all his things were taken from him, he is still the most powerful person on the server.

So I noticed the fact that in Desolate AND Shatter we have Tubbo grieving Tommy. But in Desolate, he openly expressed his grief RIGHT in front of Tommy's grave while in Shatter, he does it in his panic room/bunker thing. It really showed how he struggled to accept the death the second time round and how he's been shutting in his emotions more and more... :(

I think....I now have a new theory where Ranboo came from... wouldnt it more plausible to think that Ranboo was Dream's first experiment? The very first person to be revived in Dream SMP? How would Dream know if the revival book works if he hadn't tried using it before? Ranboo arrived right after schlatt's death. The white hair in Wilbur's hair is like an Easter egg that could be a possible lead to Ranboo's mysterious past. What if...Ranboo's forgetfulness is the side effect of an amateur revival experimentation? That's why Dream seems to have an instant access over Ranboo's part consciousness whenever he calls for it. I think that all who were revived by Dream...in return for their revival, there's a price need to be paid and that might be the ownership over a part of their soul. If that's the case, wilbur is made to think that Dream is the actual hero while in Tommy's case...Dream knew he doesn't have to do anything because Tommy will always come after him and he likes to play with his food.

@@kay-ws8er yep theres no guarantee that in each experiments, every results will be the same. The results will be different according to the test subjects used. I think that Ranboo really used to be a pure Enderman but after being tested on again and again, gained consciousness but an incomplete one. It's just pose itself that there's a possibility that Ranboo will lose all reason in the future. All this time I've thought the wrong direction, thinking that ranboo's body is somehow like Zetsu from naruto but after seeing Wilbur, ranboo being the first partial conscious entity been tested on the revival book doesn't seem to be far fetched. In addition, I still think Karl's Tales of the SMP is also related to the revival book, and in the Between.

I love the sudden mood shifts, how there is the lyrical music in the beginning, but when Tommy is dying it just goes to melancholy instrumental music. Idk if anyone else noticed it but I really like how first Dream's hand is red when he pulls Tommy back out of the afterlife and then Sam's hand is red when he pulls Tommy away from Ghostbur and Dream. That mixed with the music that slows during Tommy's death but resumes afterwards and the incredible animation is actually breath taking! Itr really shows how much thought was put into every frame

i only just found this animatic of yours the other day, i'm not sure how i hadn't seen it until now, seeing as i've been around since innocence was first released :'D the way that you pace your art with the music is phenomenal, and although i'm a bit biased (intro is quite literally my favorite song in the minecraft soundtrack), your choice in music always blows me away. the pure contrast between the minecraft ost and the high energy from MISSIO's music made it feel as though i was listening to something i'd never heard before, it hits hard. once again, incredible work as always

dude, I absolutely love how when Tommy dies everything goes silent, with barely any ambiance music playing. And when he returns the music just overwhelms you with a loud blare, similar to how it must have been like for Tommy once he returned and regained all his senses

- The red squares whenever there’s a death. - Foolish’s design is so good. It incapsulates the Egyptian aspects of his character really well. The clothes, the hair, the distinct facial features. They all fit him so well! Even the large hands and forearms of a builder. And the shark tooth is the perfect simple way to include his shark theme. The overall look of his character could easily be a sort of immortal/god-the totem of undying.

It's cause Tommy and Dream (the main writers of the exile arc) decided to lean into the mental aspects of characters. Based opinion but I don't really like it. It's fun to debate about the reasons *why* characters did things and how events affected them mentally, but I came into the DSMP fandom when it was about war, fighting, betrayal, politics, all that jazzy fun stuff. The sudden addition of the lore actually giving a shit about the mental side-effects just feels like a whiplash that has lasted for months now. Probs why I really only watch Techno and Philza lmao
