Heya! It's your friendly neighborhood Finn back with more moving pictures, just in time for the holidays. The block men are making us emotional again, what can I say.
The song this time around is "Can I Exist" by Missio. What an upbeat and optimistic tune.
I'm thinkin' this one won't get nearly as much attention as Innocence did, cause that was kinda nuts, huh? In the event that I'm right, this might be my last large Dream SMP animatic. I'd like to do some smaller ones, but these big ones really take it out of me. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy it! Share it around if you do, who knows, maybe I can keep this up a little while longer.

I find it interesting how Late-August didn't draw Ranboo with the rest of the Butcher Army. It was only Tubbo, Fundy and Quackity. It's almost as if Ranboo wasn't there, almost like his loyalties never really lied with his country. Like he never agreed with what they were doing

It's true, he never really agreed with what the Butcher Army wanted to do to Techno. Ranboo has said that he'll help those who have helped him, and won't help those who have wronged him. The Butcher Army believes that Technoblade wronged them, even though you could make the argument that Techno didn't do anything but keep his promise of destroying every government that was founded. Technoblade stayed consistent with his promise of anarchy and made his plans very clear from the start. However, Ranboo wasn't there when Technoblade spawned those withers and destroyed L'manburg. So, Ranboo hasn't been wronged by Techno, but at the same time, he hasn't been helped by Techno either. So, because of that, Ranboo doesn't really understand why the Butcher Army wanted to kill Technoblade, or why they dragged Ranboo into it. I think we could see Ranboo join Technoblade's side in the near future.

Quick details I noticed in this animatic. - Ranboo has his lighter, whiter side facing Tommy, while the darker half faces Tubbo. This happens at about 1:30. This represents where Ranboo stands, and its incredibly interesting especially when you consider recent developments in the Dream SMP lore - Tommy's eyes are a lighter shade of blue throughout the entire video UNTIL his exile kicks in, and he looks at the red disc at 1:54. INCREDIBLE attention to details here, very well done. - Since Ghostbur revealed that he never received a grave, I like to think that at 0:35 is actually Schlatt's grave. It COULD be Wilbur's, but still. - Something that I didn't know whether or not point out earlier, but I noticed that the tie that Tubbo wears throughout the animatic is red, much like Schlatt's tie, giving a visual representation of Tubbo turning into the next Schlatt, or, taking on what Schlatt left behind - Again, I have NO idea if this was intentional or not, but we see at 1:58, Tommy's view of L'Manberg across the sea is bright, but when it switches to what's behind him, the world goes dark. - Also, MASSIVE detail at 2:02, but Tommy's compass needle is red, pointing to Tubbo, which if you remember at 1:43, represents Tubbo becoming Schlatt, and Tubbo's needle is blue, pointing to Tommy, who now represents Wilbur - Again, 2:28, GREAT job remembering the missing shoe. Idk, thought I'd mention how well done that was - I'm wondering why Technoblade is blind in this animatic, or has a blindfold over his eyes. I'm sure there's an interesting reason. I've been trying to break it down, but I can't break it down. - At 2:38, it is important t note that Ranboo DOESN'T appear, because as we've seen, he is conflicted. Plus, he never REALLY joined the Butcher Army, he was dragged along because they needed support. - 2:49 I was VERY pleased and excited that the animator was able to accurately depict the "voices" that Techno hears, and how they've only come out NOW, because they laid dormant - 2:56 Technoblade being red might be a simple coloring to signify which one is Technoblade, but I think its because Techno finally gave in to his bloodlust, and donned his old red outfit, signifying his fall from trying to be peaceful. Or, signifying the death he would soon experience - Once again, at 3:05, Tubbo loses the color in his eyes, HIS blue, signifying HIS loss in hope and happiness, just like Tommy - And at 3:06, the tie isn't red anymore, which (in my opinion) signifies Tubbo finally realizing who he turned into, and his turn from becoming Schlatt. But, I could be over-analyzing - At 3:27, I noticed something. The color red doesn't just signify Schlatt, but danger and death. Ill-tidings, if you will. The anvil dropping on Technoblade, the blood on several different characters, the red on Dream, and more. Or, it could be Tommy's deadly thought towards Dream, since, like I pointed out, red means danger and deadliness. Which, again, is INCREDIBLE detail, since before, Dream wasn't red when he was around Tommy. But now, Tommy has snapped out of it, and now, he sees Dream for who he really is. Finally, the final shot of the animatic, Tubbo at 3:31 has the red tie on. It shows what he is going to do, and who he is becoming again. Because of his plans to kill Dream and rule L'Manberg, his tie is turning red again. That's all. Hope you enjoyed my breakdown!

I believe that Technoblade wears the blindfold because "Justice is blind." This could also be a connection to The Greek Goddess Themis, who symbolises justice, fair and equal administration of the law, without corruption, favor, greed, or prejudice. she is often depicted to wear a blindfold and hold a balanced scale.

I really like the detail that Techno is coloured in red, to present him as an antagonist, but then is later presented in grey compared to Dream (who turns red) after taking Tommy in. It's a neat little touch that's carried over from the other animatic, like how Tubbo's tie is red too.

I love this so much because I feel like there’s a special line/lines in the lyrics for some characters. For Tommy, the first two lines of the first verse, because he’s exiled (those lines go with Wilbur as well since he’s dead) the whole second verse because he messed up by burning George’s house (this kind of goes with wilbur too since he messed up by blowing up Lmanberg) and the first three lines of the chorus because his character is suicidal. for technoblade, I feel like the third line of the first verse is for him since he’s portrayed as a character just out for blood. For tubbo, it’s the fourth line of the first verse, because he’s the president, and the last four lines of the chorus because he exiled Tommy. Obviously these are just what I see these lines as. But that’s part of the reason why I love this animatic SO much. It’s that I feel like everything just fits together PERFECTLY.

here's a neat detail! at 3:26 , Dream turns from grey to red; in the first animatic, Innocence, august said that they used red to symbolize people who tommy viewed as his enemy. So, now that Tommy realizes the truth about Dream, he changes from grey to red, to symbolize tommy's recognition of Dream being manipulative and bad! thought that was so cool lol

No, Techno was unheatlhy for Tommy. He just isolated Tommy further and encouraged him to be violent and abandon all of his own opinions and morals. Tommy had different views and history than Techno, Techno didn't understand Tommy as well as you think. Leaving him was the best thing he could have done for himself and for his friends that he still loved.

Techno didn't isolate him, Tubbo did by literally exiling him. Tommy had to be isolated and Techno provided protection for him even after Tommy had been regularly stealing from him. He wasn't unhealthy for Tommy and even said he didn't have to join him in destroying Manburg and offered to help him get his discs back at one point. Techno did understand him to a certain extent. Tommy was allowed to leave him but full on betraying him was out of line. Especially after Techno had provided for him.

I really appreciate, how down to earth this is to the other animatics. This feels like a tragic jet realistic story , while the other animatics tend to just show brutal fights and a few bits of story. Another thing i really appreciate is the song-choice, it helps the animatic in getting that malancholy feeling. I've said it before, that "every frame is wallpaper-friendly", but I need to elaborate on that. You have everything from the simple and realistic designs to the posture of each character. Your lineless and almost painted style very well compliments the grayscale with small splashes of color here and there. The frame where the anvil dropped on techno was GORGEOUS, and the song choice! It's calm, but serious and very well fits the current tone of the Dream SMP. So like I said on innocence, *every frame in this is wallpaper friendly.*

I love the fact that the horns disappeared when he was morning tommy because at that point he was acting as a president he was acting as a kid who had just lost the one person who ment the world to him, his world was collapsing on to itself and you really interpreted that in this depiction. I've re-watched this at least thirty times by now. And I have to say, I think I've finally understood what makes your videos so awe-inspiring. Most times, music is set to create thematic drive (as in SAD-ist) or to put fitting words in characters' mouths (as in Public Spam Account). You do both and more. The music you choose speaks for the scenes themselves, for the events... Your art sums up the tone of SMP drama perfectly and breathes it in song. You capture the totality of the dream smp arcs, the heart of the conflicts behind the scripts and improvisations (whether it's wrestling with dedication to a nation or a friend, or wrestling with your own existence) and in doing so evoke incredibly poignancy within your viewers. Simply stunning.

In my opinion, Dream SMP artist are probably the best Artists and Animator's I've ever seen. There art is just so incredible, it brings so much life to the story, especially the animatics/animations.!

@@RandomJoey I think their logic was that because George is a popular streamer. If he was there pre-vote, when they were giving speaches Quackit's party might have had a better chance at winning. However Quackity said "If you hadn't fallen asleep on the election, we might of won..." which seems misleading because George was there on election day. That's my best guess. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me! :D

Okay, but, can we talk about the parallel of Dream holding Tommy’s shirt and yelling to the “I won’t play the victim” line in the last animatic where Tommy is yelling and pointing his finger in Dream’s face? Beautiful. Also, the fade in of the obsidian wall was EPIC, and the flash between the pillar and Tubbo’s reaction was gorgeous. You are so so gifted late august!!

I don't think so because in that sense some people would not see Ghostbur at all, he is missed by some and completely disresgarded by others, but everyone can see him. For example, why would Ramboo see Ghostbur? There is almost no connection between both of them.

The little details added, the animation and how you animated everything together, just makes the whole thing just stunning. Wilbur crying blue, the blue on Fundy's hands after touching Ghostbur (kind of like Ghostbur was blue and left a mark on Fundy's hands,) Wilbut visiting his grave and somewhat but not remembering what had happened like, the imaginative sword that took Wilbur's last canon life, Tubbo debating with Dream and George, while Ranboo was mournfully/sadly silently standing there because Tommy was facing all of the blame and not him, Tubbo's back facing Tommy as he decided Tommy's fate (Tommy being exiled ofc,) Tommy getting pushed into exile but Ghostbur helping him along the way, the red appearing above Techno's head when the hunters arrived, to show the line that he said "I chose blood", the blood dripping from Techno's pickaxe from killing Quackity. I like the perspective you drew Tommy, Techno and Dream when Tommy was hiding from Dream visiting Tommy, like how it was in the actual stream, intentional or not, so good. Tubbo wearing only a fitted shirt when he thought that Tommy was still alive and after he thought Tommy had died, he's wearing the jacket, which may imply something, that Tubbo blamed himself for Tommy's supposed "final canon death," or he forgot about Tommy and his nation is truely now the only thing on his mind, maybe it's one of them, both or none. The way the obsidian wall was animated, the little spec of light while Tommy was looking at his Blocks disc, the little animation details. i completely agree with your analysis, and I´d like to add to it: the scene where Tommy is on trial. Tubbo is trying to smile, put on a friendly demeanor, and Tommy is just glaring at him. almost like he thinks Tubbo doesn´t care about the result of the trial, or isn´t worried about what happens to him, when in reality hes trying to save / preserve his life in L´Manburg.
