Awesome! Growing up we had a local trail / track just over 1.2Km in length, I used to use it to train for my enduro racing. Bikes I used there varied from an XT500, then an IT175, IT490 then a TT600, all Yamahas! The IT490 and TT600 were considered "heavyweights" at 125 - 140Kgs respectively.. We didn't have phones in those days, so lap times were done by a friend with a Casio wristwatch and, yes I know the exhilaration and feeling of achievement when you smash a lap time Now as a 50 something myself, I too have a 790 Adv R with a few mods like decent skidplate, headlight reinforcement and other little protective parts to ensure this 200Kg+ machine doesn't self destruct when its sheer weight and size overcome my fitness levels and skills.. What I did notice is most of your riding was sub 6000RPM, in the torque zone, sadly I couldn't see your gear display, but I'm guessing 2nd/3rd most of the way. I see you have a rally tower, Scotts damper and the Magura hydro clutch conversion and there was very little "clutch work" required, even though that trail is narrow and quite technical.. So, i watched the video in its entirety and enjoyed it Well done and one of the best videos I've seen in ages! With respect and admiration from a fellow 790 Adv R owner based in Germany and France! (No, I am neither German nor French) who also Admins one of the many 790 Adv Groups on Zuckbook

That’s high praise! Thanks. Yea, 2nd and 3rd (mostly 2nd) for this track. The clutch work is a lot less intense on this bike vs my FX450. There isn’t a whole lot of engine breaking on these heavy (subjective) twins, so it’s easy to just throttle on and off. Thanks for watching!

Nice video, fun track - try it in Rally mode 1, Street throttle - thank me later :)

I find rally mode to have way to aggressive throttle mapping for loose dirt and woods stuff. I love it for higher speed stuff though.

Your navigator failed you on Pacenotes .... kidding but I think knowing the track more every time will get you faster. I'm just here for the heavy breathing so no need to say sorry.😂

You are right, but eventually you plateau and need to figure out, beyond knowing the track inside and out, where and how you can go faster. Sometime you don’t find it on the track or the same bike. I spent a few hours on my 450 and some things just naturally translated, which is cool.

@@dadmode5545 I guess once you do plateau you move on to a new challenge

So, that guy simply has to be your brother. Also, was this before or after your wrist issue?

This was Monday. So pretty much during it. I can ride through the pain and it doesn’t really affect my time, I just do shorter days. I’ve been rehabbing it and it’s certainly getting better. That’s Noah, a good friend of mine 🤣
