Shawn was more athletically gifted and I always thought he was the best. As an adult, spending time with the WWE network I have to say that Bret is the best I’ve ever seen. Every movement, every punch, every bump was just so damn *crisp*. There was never a more appropriate nickname than the excellence of execution. He was just incredible. Better than anyone else who’s ever done it.

Absolutely spot on, he has the perfect nickname It's incredible how every single movement he made was obviously trained to perfection He had a very simple grappling hard style, but he executed it so perfectly (should i say excellent?) that it is so awesome to see him in action

I know Bret has his moniker of being the best ever, but I don't believe him just because he says it. If you watch a Bret Hart match, you will see that every move matters and 20 minutes later you will understand why. I cam watch every Bret match, but not every HBK match. Bret is the GOAT, as far as being the greatest pro wrestler goes. Hogan, Flair, Austin, and the Rock are the greatest Superstars, and HBK is the greatest performer.

Bret was a class wrestler no doubt. So safe and an A class ring general, but he could be a bit clinical and boring sometimes. Shawn takes it for me for the fact that I never saw him in a match where he didn't perform to 100% of his ability. He could wrestle anyone of any size and put them over. Hell he could go 20 mins with a Mop and make that Mop look like a million bucks. He could do everything that Bret did and a whole bunch of stuff I don't think he could. That's why that is my opinion. I respect anyone who thinks Bret though. Bret has earned it.

Shawn also gets a ton of credit for coming back in 2002 and having a great second run which did wonders for his legacy (a chance Bret never really got because of his 2002 stroke)

I really enjoy hearing these interviews of wrestlers talking about the business and pulling back the curtain to let people know what goes on outside of the scripted storylines of wrestling. Twenty years ago, you were hard-pressed to get wrestlers to break character even outside of a wrestling ring and present themselves as people working in a business.

I'm not a huge Shawn fan. But recently watched his and Bret's '92 Summerslam match. It's a work of art. Current wrestlers should be made to study it. It's a 30 minute match and every second of it tells and re-enforces the story (face and heel). Even down to the commentary. Today's product is pathetic alongside it.

Many judge Shawn on his in the ring abilities only. He would sabotage wrestlers, storm into Vince’s office and use his power to get other wrestlers fired. He wouldn’t put guys over. The curtain call incident was a shit on the business. For those reasons I don’t consider him the greatest. Bret on the other hand would be considered backstage “one of the boys.” Not only was Bret Hart amazing in the ring, he wanted to be a leader and help other wrestlers and make them look as good as he could when they would work. He cared deeply about the business. That’s why I put Bret ahead of Shawn.

Bret does take himself too seriously, It's been 22 years since the Screwjob and he's still whining about it; can't go a single interview without singing his own praises, putting somebody down, or bragging about how much everybody supposedly respected him. The thing that pisses me off is that he shook Shawn Michaels' hand 10 years ago, they publicly ended it, but Bret still runs his mouth off about Shawn any time he gets the chance. Shawn probably agrees with Triple H but has the good senses not to say anything because he's not that kind of guy anymore. Bret constantly talks about what a shitbag Shawn was and fails to see the irony in his statements.

Salient point. Growing up Brett was my favorite, and I didn't like Michaels. As time has gone on, and I'm in my 40's now, i have a deep appreciation for what Michaels did encompassing his whole career. Moreover, he seems much more laid back now, while if you read Brett's book, I get the sense that Hart goes out of the way to make sure he's the glorious unappreciated hero in every instance. I still love Brett, but I find myself turning into to an HBK fan more and more.

I think Bret isn't so much bothered about Montreal, it is more the betrayal behind it, where Shawn and him had a really nice chat before the match, forgave each other and Shawn then did that, I think that scar just is always going to be there, and you can tell HBK felt an enormous burden for years over it (even though it was HHH fault). Whilst I agree Bret does sometimes still say negative stuff about HBK, its always in reference to the OLD HBK, he has said plenty of things recently about how he is proud of HBK for changing his life, putting on great matches as he got older, overcoming obstacles like drugs when guys like Davey boy couldn't, which are in reference to the new HBK. Another thing is, you have to remember when people have a stroke, they are not ever the same again mentally, and literally can suffer things like memory loss, distortions of the past and that can affect what Bret is saying. Someone once said that when Bret hugged HBK he didn't look like his smile was legit, but they don't realise that is a side effect of his stroke, which he has spoken about, he can't smile properly and its the same when he poses with anyone else

Actually every Bret Hart match was pretty much the same. Suplex, side russian leg sweep, back breaker, elbow off the top rope(which looked ridiculous) clotheline, and sharpshooter(which was a rip off of Stings Scorpion Deathlock). That's pretty much his entire repretoire, and he never changed. A Bret Hart match from 1992, was pretty much the same as a Hart match from 1997. He was not this great mat technician that everyone thinks he is. HBK on the other hand was constantly adding new moves. In his later matches he was using the Indian Deathlock, Moonsaults, Hurricanrana's and other high risk manuevers, and even the Sharpshooter, none of which he was doing earlier in his career
@wolfpacsyxx
@wolfpacsyxx 8 жыл бұрын
+Lewis 970 actually you are wrong, your opinion is not a fact Shawn just does a few moves and a finisher which is the problem with the taker matches just repeated finishers he was a horrible technician. Yes all wrestlers use certain moves over and over as they travel but on the big ppv matches they have to innovate still waiting on Shawn to do that. Bret went through a king of the ring and wrestled 3 different matches in one night, did Shawn no. It is ridiculous Shawn just would run around every match flip over the turnbuckle so it looks more fake, do a flying forearm elbow drop and a kick in every match he had never did he change you seen one you seen them all. Yes all wrestlers have a set up finish but that is pretty much all Shawn ever did and if a match went longer he would just do those moves again watch those taker matches. Watch Bret vs bulldog vs Austin vs Nash vs did vs taker vs 123 kid all those men best matches came against Bret and they were all different.
@Lewis9709
@Lewis9709 8 жыл бұрын
Actually you're wrong. Brett is overrated as a technician. He never did anything in the ring that hadn't been done by several other wrestlers before. There are many wrestlers, in the past and today who are much better grapplers; HBK, Ronnie Garvin, AJ Styles, Arn Anderson, Brian Pillman(before his car accident), Kurt Angle, Kurt Hennig, Ric Flair, Davey Boy Smith, Dean Malenko, Stephen/William Regal, Eddie Guerrero, the Undertaker, Bob Orton, Bob Backlund, Matt Sydal, hell even his own brother Owen(RIP) was better in the ring. I never cared much for Bret on the mic either. I used to get so annoyed when he referred to himself as a "hero". I felt like saying a hero is someone who serves in the Military, or as a Police Officer, or Firefighter. Bret took, and still does take himself way too seriously

Glad for sure that Bret and Shawn buried the hatchet. Both all time greats. The only part that was odd about Michaels comments was when he said Michael Jordan didn't need to remind everyone how great he was. Uhhhhh......Jordan constantly tells everyone how great he was. His basketball HOF speech was painful and embarrassing, putting down all his previous opponents. I get what Shawn was trying to say but there are a million better examples he could have used.

Bullshit. Look I know HBK was a grade A douchebag, nobody's debating that. But he was actually a much better technical wrestler and athelete than Bret. Bret never did anything original or all that impressive in the ring.

Bullcrap. Shawn was always better than Bret. Bret was better technically, but Shawn was way better in everything else. Much more charisma, better looks, athleticism, physique, and gimmick. Have you seen how fast he was in the 90s? Every HBK match was beautiful, he always made even the least interesting wrestlers look good with the way he sold every move. Not for nothing, he is called Mr. Wrestlemania. Because every single match of his was an amazing show. Even Stone Cold will tell you he is the best performer of all time.

RandomnessTube They were both pro’s in the ring and never injured anyone. Both equal in my book. Shawn delivered 1000’s of Sweet Chin Music and none hurt anyone and that is astonishing. Both Bret and Shawn deserve only but respect as wrestlers. Outside the ring they are all different.

Bret Hart is the only wrestler besides Jeff Hardy, CM Punk and a few others that I would consider more of a "real" person. Although CM Punk is also a great actor and entetainer.. something Bret Hart and Jeff Hardy were not because they were so much of themselves.

I think the words Shawn was looking for was "I don't mind when other people dont think like me". So every activist or abolishionist or whatever you are that gets made and wants to change the law when people don't think like you, take note of this
