I could not agree more. I wish I'd been taught from a younger age to prioritise this. As an ageing adult now, I'm realising (hopefully not too late) how much poor sleep hygiene is messing up my immune system, my mental health and my overall life in general.

How unfortunate that I had never heard of Shawn before this interview. Anyone who cites their work as often and concisely as this man deserves the utmost respect. Shawn clearly has a passion for his work. I was so inspired that I immediately downloaded f.lux on my computer (it's free and works perfectly) and I will be reading his book straight away. I just finished reading your book, Lewis. I'm a huge fan! For similar reasons as mentioned above, I always prefer to have pieces of advice backed with some degree of evidence. Were books like Think and Grow Rich a big influence of yours when deciding on the format for The School of Greatness? I'd love to hear how you prepared to become an author.

We've been cultivating an educational environment at home since we had our 3 younger children. It has been very rewarding to see them thrive and solve problems on their own, take initiative, and do things almost daily that just blow us away. My 4yr-old stale-mated me in checkers. I didn't remember that was possible, as I haven't played it since the early 1980s maybe, before moving onto chess with my dad.

Not all the way through it, but in the first 20 minutes did anyone else notice that he said nowhere in the book does he talk about how many hours of sleep one should get, but it's about the quality.. and then shortly after talked about the weight loss control group, where they sleep deprived one group to 5 hours and gave the other group 8+ hours...contradiction?
@AwkoTurtle4 жыл бұрын
Well the reason why he doesn’t give a specific amount of hours is because the amount of sleep one needs varies person to person. Sleep quality matters more than the quantity. For most people it usually falls somewhere between 6-9 hours of sleep. 5 hours is too little for the majority of people unless you’re one of those people who have the gene mutation that allows you to sleep less.
