In 1983 in my Hometown of Wilmington, NC I went to the best concert I ever went to. The warm up act was a Young group called Alabama who was the warm up act for Hank Williams JR. Both would end up in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Everyone at the Concert knew Alabama would make it Big time.

About 20 years later, I think 2002, I went to a concert at the Desert Sky Pavilion (Then called Cricket Mobile Pavilion) in Phoenix, Arizona. The headliner was a little band called Alabama that couldn't bring in the young crowd anymore. I was 22, and I think was one of the few people there who could legally buy beer. The seats were packed, the lawn was standing room only. It was a hell of a show. Something I'll remember until I die. Lost my voice for days and days, and I wasn't the only one.

Oh my goodness. This was our song. My husband passed away nine years ago. I'm from Tennessee and he was a Georgia man. He loved nothing better than riding the back roads except for me. Miss him every day. I could write a book about him and the back roads and creeks and mountains. He was a one of a kind.

Hey Shawn and Mel, I live in Maryland as well. I grew up in Northern Michigan and those pictures take me back north when I see them. 🙂 So, I would say its more of a small town feel. We were the north (Maryland), some people here didn't like that and some did. Maryland was just to close to DC to be a Sothern state. I know, the federal government didn't let Maryland to vote to leave the union. Looking back, I'm glad that we all just decided to just get along. I did grow up in the 1970's and appreciate you for going through the songs that I love.

Alabama = Iconic. They got their start in Myrtle Beach S.C. They use to go to Myrtle during the summer month's and play at the bars and venues. They were a staple at a bar called The Bowery. Carolinians got to discover them before the rest of the world heard of them.

touch me when we're dancing is probably my favorite by them, if only because my grandfather co-wrote it. not a joke, JL Wallace was my grandpa, and he wrote several pretty well-charting tracks back in the day. he passed a couple years ago, and i miss him greatly. (P.s. if you really wanna make my life, his band B.A.M.A.'s version of touch me when we're dancing is also on youtube, and he sings lead on it. I'd love to see a reaction to that)
