My grandpa introduced me to this as a child and it’s been one of my favorite songs throughout my whole life. Anything by the marcels, The Beach Boys, the tokens, the temptations, the Jackson 5 will always be a jam to me. And especially when Fred Johnson hits those deep tones, especially the one at the end. They has a live version and he gets so low at the end it show my windows coming through my subs lol. Man they’re such a fire ban.

This song will forever be in my top 10 favorite songs because I’ve been listening to it since I was about four or five with my grandpa on a ride to Southern Miss football games on the weekends. This song brings back so many great memories and nostalgia, and I’m just now I still got my grandpa here for our long. He’s still around four to make him more great memories with.

There was a throwback doo-wop group called Sha Na Na who were quite popular in the 1970and 1980s. They had their own TV show for quite a while. Their signature song was 'Get A Job.' Worth Checking out if you like this sort of music.

Sha Na Na was my first concert ever, my Grandma took me to see them at the Hershey Arena (PA), Dr. Hook opened up for them, I was just a very young lad, but I was a big fan of their tv show and Bowser of course. This was my favorite song growing up from the time I was about 3/4 into my teenage years. As someone who spent a majority of my weekends at my grandparent’s house and going to football games with my grandpa and grandma, though she went shopping while we went usually lol, this and doo wop in general was my favorite. The Marcels slaps and blue moon is one of the greatest songs of all time imo. Like and don’t even get me tarted on how I acted when I originally heard Fred Johnson hit those deep bassy Blue Moons, especially the last one. My favorite one is of them live in their fire ahh Purple suits, this is when they’re already pretty old id say late 90s/early 00s, and when he hit that last deep blue moon, especially since I had it coming through ky subwoofers in my house it shook the windows it was so deep lol. These guys, thanks to my grandpa will always be my favorites. I’m so thankful for him putting me on good music and for my dad for putting me on rock music, which eventually evolved to me listening to metalcore/deathcore, which most call screamo, but yeah. If not for my amazing grandpa I’d never heard this amazing song and band. It’s so nice seeing people these days still appreciating this amazing band.

Don't get me wrong, "Denise" is a great track but it's a long way from Doo Wop. Please don't take offence because we are obviously singing from the same hymn sheet (pun intended) and as The Late Great Ronnie Italiano (Google him if you don't know of him) would say, we are U.G.H. - United In Group Harmony.Best Wishes from the UK.

If you ever have a chance to see the musical “Smokey Joe’s Cafe” (on stage or DVD) you’ll see a compilation of songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. In the mid 1950s, Leiber and Stoller created a string of ground-breaking, humorous hits for The Coasters, including "Young Blood," "Searchin'," "Charlie Brown," and "Yakety Yak." Earlier, they had written the blues song "Hound Dog" for Big Mama Thornton, which went on to become the signature hit for Elvis Presley.

Having worked as a music journalist in the past, I can attest to the profound emphasis on talent in the music scene of the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. Regardless of one's identity or vocal qualities, talent held paramount importance. Nowadays, while talent is still valued, it seems that our attention is often directed towards a different kind of talent that has permeated both radio and music playlists. Growing up, I was exposed to the likes of The Marcels, Temptations, The Supremes, and Diana Ross-artists and groups from an older era, thanks to my mom's eclectic taste in music. Personally, I find a deeper appreciation for the music of that time compared to what is commonly heard today.

Doo Wop came from vocal groups singing without any instruments - - what Jerry Butler referred to as "street corner harmony". There would be a lead singer and the rest did layered vocals as back up. 4 or 5 guys, soprano 1st tenor 2nd tenor baritone bass. record companies added studio musicians
