What should your arms be doing in your golf swing? In this video, we bring clarity on how your arms contribute to your golf swing's kinetic chain and simplify everything for those who get concerned about the position or angle your arms must be in. We illustrate simple analogies with the arms that coincide with how the golf swing starts and ends and show you how you were made to do this action anatomically!
For more training routines that work on the arm's ability to promote swing speed and clubhead speed, come see to our premium website at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com for the best wisdom in the golf industry!!

Love this! Using your legs, and hips to start your backswing makes the arms, and club feel so much lighter. Also, leading the downswing with the legs, and hips literally takes away the "urge" to swing the arms too hard from the top. If you don't allow your legs, hips, and torso to swing the club for you, you will feel an overwhelming NEED to swing the arms faster, or the ball won't go anywhere. Too many people get locked into swinging the club HEAD with their arms, and hands. This, of course, freezes the body. We NEED to visualize swinging the "arm-club unit" with the rest of our bodies. I always play my best golf when I do things to make my arms feel relaxed, and light.

Thank you Shawn! For the first time in my life, I know how to swing the golf club. I watched this video last night, went to the range today and was amazed at the ease i could swing the golf club. I no longer have to think about hitting the golf ball and can swing freely. I just imagine that I am swinging an axe through a tree.My weight transfers without thinking about it and the ball fly's off the club. 165 on the fly with and 8 iron! Pretty good for an old man.

Hey Shawn. I’m a big follower of your channel. Really appreciate your coaching. One of the things you hit hard in your older videos that did wonders for my swing are all of your tilted spiral vids. I struggled for so long with hitting fat/topped shots. Once I began putting more pressure on lead leg with head back with the feel of swinging to target, my low point is always in front. I’d love to see a new vid on low point. One of my your fav vids is your braces tilt vid. Thanks again.

Shawn, love your videos and the alignment tips are golden! been hitting more online than ever before! I have a question regarding the driver....you did a video about resetting your drive to hit straighter (by thinking im hitting only 150 yards) and for me it did...BUT, when i try to swing at full comfortable speed (not max swing) i tend to hit a pull hook. The only way i can hit it straight is to manipulate my hands differently than my smooth 150 yard swing. HELP! Thanks in advanced! Ken
@golflessons
@golflessons 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Ken! Could be a couple of things; the most important is to get a confirmation that you are delivering through the ball and not at the ball, which you are probably not. And if you are setting up to hit a draw with the driver, there is an added important thing you need in the set up to get you a full platform under your lead side to get all the way through. You will get a whiff of this in my “hogan’s diagonal stance shawn clement” video On our premium channel, we have a full series on this called the ‘Diagonal stance series” and the “great driver nugget” and you want to complement that with the “target confirmation series” which is designed to get you to CONFIRM that you ACTUALLY STAYED with the shot and did not black out in the middle of the swing or default to the ball. And lastly, the “pre-motor cortex series” to prepare the mind and Central Nervous System to feel the action of this target bound release.

I've been a fan of this style of teaching golf for some time now (task/intent based, whole body, natural movement, using ground forces) but it wasn't until i saw your club throwing videos that something clicked and it all fell into place. I changed my "task" thought from "skimming a stone" to "swinging and throwing a heavy steel bar at my target" and I could immediately tell I was on to something, the noise of the impact was that noise (a low crack) I only hear occasionally when I accidentally catch one right. the biggest indicator on the first range session was my wedges, my 52 went from a effortful high wafty 100 yard slightly pulled shot to an effortless 110/115 yard shot where i could hear the spin fizzing away on the ball and i was leaving big white smears of range ball on the centre of the clubface.

Feel the weight of the arms and club hanging from the shoulder sockets. Very wise words indeed. Easily forgotten especially when the mind wonders to other areas of the swing. I make a conscious effort to feel that just before the takeaway with every shot even chipping and putting. What are the results after hitting thousands of shots ? Best golden ball striking improvement ever. It is very difficult to disagree with any of these great videos but I must question just one certain thing regarding the start of the backswing. I feel as if the hands initiate the takeaway. The club head is moved a couple feet into the takeaway before the body pivot is engaged. This let's me feel the weight well into and throughout the golfswing. This also seems to keep the club from going inside and keeps swing center from moving excessively laterally in the takeaway. Maybe I'm off track here but the results say otherwise. I'm definitely with Savy in regards to envisioning that perpetual motion to start the takeaway . Watch out Mu she can snap a punch. Great video Thank yinz

Watch hammer throw, or a lumber jack with an axe; same deal. Once you realize that when you are getting ready to ba careful or to make sure of a certain manipulation, you are asking the brain to freeze the body; when you react to the weight of the arms and club, the brain removes the body to allow for the free swing. NO COMPARISON!!

First off, I love your instruction, thanks so much. I've played for 40 years. During that time I had instruction from five pros. He's saying I should maintain the flex in my right knee. This seems counter intuitive to me. What do you think?

It is such a crock! Finally, the US PGA teacher of the year, Mark Blackburn, made a video 6 months ago saying that of you want to use the ground properly on the downswing, that you want to come UP ON THE BACKSWING! I really agree with alot of what you're saying and I see some pretty impressive distances. Whatching that launch monitor what I don't see is an over abundance of accuracy. You have to hit fairways and greens to score well and enjoy this game. I think you need to figure out a way to give people accuracy more than distance. Power is nice, but hitting out of the trees after every drive gets frustrating very quickly.

New subscriber... This looks really interesting. Must try this for real. It's the offseason here right now. Perfect timing for this. Need the offseason training to even have a tiny chance to get any improvement. Not even talking about the goals you see below, right now. (This is to get any improvement at all.) As a 55-year-old player with a really bad back, this will be a truly inspiring experiment. I used to be an average player. (That's okay for the most part.) In the past years, I went back to be a player way back in the pack. More or less at the beginner level (scoring-wise, anyway.) 26,4 handicap right now. And yes, that's way higher than I want it to be after +30 years of playing golf. (Never better than 12,4 when I was at my best.) Can this method help me? My goals during 2022: (Shouting for the stars here, for sure.) 1. Play rounds under par (gross) sometime during 2022. (Newer made under 81 before - and that was before my chronic bad back really came in the picture.) That problem won't go away! 2. Getting a single-digit handicap no higher than 5. (Impossible for sure, right?!) Trust me, this is better than the three best rounds of my life, way better actually!) So dawn right it's impossible, but that's my goal anyway! 3. Going from 200-220 yards carry (my nest ones after the injury) to something between 250 to +300 yards carry with my driver. The golf season here in Sweden starts in April. Will get back to you with some kind of regular updates. I Probably going to start a small KZbin channel just to show people what's happening for real. More on that later. For now, I just wanted to say that this method probably going to be the backbone of my one-year challenge to become way better than my circumstances telling me is possible. That puts you and your method in the crossline, right?! Wish me luck! /Morgan Svensson, Sweden

Yes, like a 5 iron, which she used to hit at that distance but did not have the same height or the same ease to accomplish! Same with me, the 5 iron is my 195-200 club; that Epic Forged 7 iron gets me 205 at 140 feet and 51 degrees descending angle. Can’t do that with a blade 5 iron. So what you will see in the future is a choice of club for a specific distance that is optimal and that is as easy as swinging a full wedge.

200 yard 7 iron? At what loft? I can't even imagine hitting a 200 yard 7 iron and I've been playing for 35 years and have a 7 handicap. I still hit my 7 iron 155. gaaaaah

It's 27 degrees of loft. About the loft of a traditional 5 iron. Though the way the club is built it will still have about the height of a traditional 7 iron.

If your club speed is close to 100 or more, then your technique is not lending to high launch and low spin and your equipment may be out of tune. See “how to get ready for driver fitting shawn clement golf wrx” and “driver speed and smash shawn clement” and if that won’t do it, go get a fitting or hit some balls with a proper launch monitor like the Foresight GC Quad.

well whatever works I suppose, I know I was having trouble off the tee from my strong grip but was working ok for hybrid and irons with my divots pointing a bit left, have weakened it a bit over the last few months to neutral to strong as opposed to strong and am better off the tee with more of a power fade as opposed to chopping down on the ball which was happening with the stronger grip, just my experience, big fan of your videos, brian
@golflessons

@@topman6727 chopping down means your focus is in the wrong place; too ball bound. What you are looking for is an action THROUGH THE BALL AND ALONG THE GROUND. See “grass whip training shawn clement” and “throwing the club shawn clement” and then see “predict solid contact and direction shawn clement”
