The BEST Week of the Year!

Venturing out from the log cabin, we take a Canadian road trip into the wilderness to relax in the splendor of nature. We send our drone over the forests and waterfalls of Canada to see the incredible fall colors in the forest and immerse ourselves in the ASMR sounds of the natural world. Our road trip takes us to the north coast of Lake Superior to watch rushing rivers spill over granite cliffs and through cobblestone beaches where trout and salmon are returning to the rivers to spawn. It is very relaxing and calming, like an ASMR film. I camp in two places along the rivers and Cali, our golden retriever, leads the way as we hike through canyons, along cliffs and wade through rivers and the great inland sea of Lake Superior. We explore a tiny Canadian Wilderness island in Lake Superior with a beautiful sand beach and smooth rock that tapers down into the cold, crystal clear waters of the lake.
At the cabin, I split firewood and talk about what I'm doing this autumn around the cabin and I go for a walk to check out the beaver dam at the end of the meadow before going out on a canoe trip along the river to fish, camping along the way.
This is a new video format for me, not something I'm changing to, but a format I like to do occasionally as it's very relaxing for me to make and watch. Thanks to my wife for filming with the drone, I couldn't do this without her.

What a life...a man in his dog living in a cabin in the woods. Ive lived and worked in some of the most remote bush Canada has to offer. There is something incredibly powerful that draws you out there again and again. Canada is a beautiful country...most of it is ancient boreal forest. Some day in the not too distant future I will have my own piece of paradise...and the peace and relaxation it brings. Well done sir!

I am 43yrs old. Due to ill health I have deceided to avail of early retirement from my government job. My kids are all grown now,eldest 23 and youngest 17,,my youngest is about to take off to university so I have no commitments as such . My wife with whom I met at school at 15,, married 19 yrs left me for another guy,,shit happens,,she said I was boring,,she made reference to my viewing these uploads in past and similar,,boring,her words. Anyhow every cloud and all that,,with my retirement and fact I am financially ok now I intend leaving the east coast of Ireland next march and making the journey over to the west of Ireland,connerma to where I am going into life of solitude,,alone but I shall find my Cali and that's it. I have had enough of the stresses of the rat race,up at 6am and stuck in traffic for hours before doing 12 HR shifts in soul destroying stressed out job,,I am done. Faith I think has stepped in,I watched these so long and similar,,always calling me,now jobs done,,free to go plus my wife up and left,, couldn't of done this with her so faith I believe has stepped in to give me bliss. Bring it on.

Dear Shawn, this ´video, or "vlog" is amazing, really good. The shot you got at the rapids with a calm pool up front with forest reflected is among the best shot in my opinion. That could be a contest winner as a still !! Easy... ( about 27,51 and about 10-15 seconds). I would be proud to have got that as a photo, I would love to have it as a print. I have been watching your cabin serie for a while, but quite busy in life, single father of a 16 year daughter, my wife passed away about 9 years ago so time is really premium, watching youtube have to be a luxury once in a while. This reminds me of "One man's wilderness" by Richard Proenneke. He wrote a book and filmed himself in the Alaskan wilderness in the 1960's. This has the same "hard work but peace of heart feeling". Best wishes for a long and happy life to you to in your wilderness cabin.

A perfect video for this morning. We have just finished going through Hurricane Michael here. We've had lots of rain and wind. Today we're supposed to have sunny days again. So, this was a great start to my day. The colors of the autum trees are amazing. You captured them perfectly. The water falls, rivers, and streams.. some with the relaxing sound of crashing water, then others, right in the midst of movement and chaos have glass like surfices and a quiet stillness. All captured in a way that makes me feel like I'm there. Something that I really enjoyed was seeing the old red Chestnut canoe out on the water. The light weight canoe you use for your trips is great for trips, but there has to be something special about paddling the red Chestnut canoe down the steams by your cabin. It all ties together. It was speciall to see. Sharing this video on my facebook. More people should enjoy seeing this.

Dang Shawn, you are killing me with the beautiful shots of all the fall trees & colors. It is something I truly miss getting out to enjoy it. I just recently got to come home after 4 months spent in the hospital & am now recovering from the nine surgeries I had. I just recently discovered your series & I have become an avid watcher of all the episodes. I am 65 yrs. old & hope I get to enjoy this type of lifestyle in my next life. It''s a shame we don't come with a multiple choice of the type of life we get to live. LOL Thank you so much for sharing your series with me. Please keep posting new episodes. I am subscribed.

We really missed you while you were gone Shawn . . . each day searching for an upload . Figured you were out doing what you do best , enjoying life to the max , and man oh man this footage you have given us is truly incredible on the "world level" of epic beauty. Inspirational so much that we have listed our house some 250km south of you and are jump-starting our long time plans to follow suit . My wife being retired now and I on the verge . . . couldn't be more excited at this stage in life. Thank you brother for leading by example with your inspirational work . This is your best video so far, IMHO Shawn. I'm not a crier, but this video made me tear up. I realized seeing the fall colors in the North Eastern part of the U.S. has been in my top 10 travel bucket list for 20 years. There are some live cams set up in Vermont and upstate New York that I go to every year to peak at the changing of the leaves & I no longer want to see the fall colors through my computer screen. Lately, I find myself watching your videos more than working or reading my books. Subconsciously, I think I've been wanting to "get off the train" of this so-called life that no longer makes me happy. I've accomplished a lot and I've been generous of myself & with my time to others, I think it's time to do what I want and just seeing the breathtaking colors of what I'm missing gave me the decision to text my attorney this morning to start the process of selling 2 of my 3 companies. What a great 1/2 hour ! As I watched your video of you and your dog enjoying the wilderness, it just took me away! I zoned out a few times remembering my younger days camping and fishing. The combination of soft flute music at the perfect volume and the drone camera perspective was just great! Thanks for what you do.
