Shawn is not just a builder ... he is also an artist. When he makes a cut to fit a log or board it always fits so tight it has to be bumped or hammered into place. That’s the type of precision I’d expect working with a full blown wood shop. But he’s doing it with hand tools in the dirt. That’s possible because of a lifetime of doing it. I’m impressed.

"Nothing but hand tools" is pushing it a wee bit, since the arrival of the A.T.V. and the mill. I think adding a few heavy bits of kit has been a great move for Shawn. Apart from simplifying some of the heavy work, it also speeds things up a wee bit and Shawn is less likely to hurt himself. Working alone, with heavy materials, was taking it's toll on him and using the power tools makes a whole lot of sense.👍 Having said that, I see the attraction of using nothing but hand tools, very satisfying to do and to watch. I wouldn't imagine he'll move to "all power tools" but it's good to see machinery doing some of the heavier stuff.😁
@kevincerce50563 жыл бұрын
@@2H80vids He had the mill well over a year now, he used it milling lumber for the cabin extension. Besides, we all know the insane cost of lumber at the big box stores, prices tripled. His mill already paid for itself and will continue to do so by building the new cabin.

@@sandrabaker5930 that’s a good start right? I love Shawn’s channel for the rustic structures he creates & the beautiful outdoor scenery he shows us. For an older person I feel for him knowing that the longer it takes puts more stress on his shoulder & other muscles in his body. It’s just an opinion.

Лесопилка - просто класс! Здорово, когда лось так запросто смотрит тебе в глаза

Beautiful job once again! You make it look so easy but anyone that has tried building anything knows what goes into something like this. Its always a pleasure to watch your craftmanship skills and appreciate the time involved. Thanks for sharing Shawn. The great photography is appreciated as well! Sheryl from Wisconsin 🙋♀️

Shawn I’m glad you’re using modern tools to help cut down on the physical work to help build this homestead. I know your feelings for not using noise makers and polluters. Sometimes you need help when you’re by yourself. We will be here watching and cheering for you. Stay safe

Thankyou. I needed some Shawn creativity this week. Always a delight to watch. You have created a necessary with style. I lost my beautiful girl Lolly (spoodle) on Monday. After close to 15 years together it’s hard, but she was sick and in pain and deserved better. So I gave it to her. I’m lost without her. It made me think of when Cali was injured, it would have been hard missing her two steps behind you as I miss my little girl behind me.

The best part of this channel is, you can hit the like button right after clicking play! Truly good stuff.

With the price of lumber today, a sawmill makes a lot of sense if you have the land and a good stand of trees.
