This song is Psalm 23 from the Bible, but the meaning is reversed. In the original, Christ is our protector through the valley of the shadow of death. In this song it’s saying he can’t protect you. Instead you’ll use your own human strength (Gun). If you’re a believer in Christ this is a red flag. Because nothing can protect you from Death aka (The valley of the shadow of death) only Christ can. Because he defeated death on the cross. When you live for him, you’ll know that victory over death like him. Your own human strength cannot save you from death. Victory over the powers of darkness, pain, greed, and hate. Depression, Dissatisfactions, and worries. Pff all that stuff is gone when you now have Christ in the heart. I used to be a big fan of LOU, man I was anticipating the sequel and following all the new updates on the sequel since I finished playing the first LOU. Up until a year and a half ago. This stuff is rubbish. Didn’t bring happiness in my life it only distracted me from the reality of the empty heart I had. Love is what this world needs. Great song for sure. Amazing voice. So distinctive. Both games are top drawer. My number 1 campaigns so far and can be played back to back and as one which is what I’d suggest. You don’t have to be huge into video games the story is amazing enough all by itself to warrant a play through.

Ellie's pursuit for vengeance blinds her from fear and consequence. The entire story is really just a reflection of the song, revealing Ellies reality and mentality.In my mind and my gun I find comfort because i know that they'll kill my enemies. Unable to walk on the path of the right because unfortunately all that Ellie does in the game is wrong and she isnt the good guy nor is she the bad guy. It’s completely fine that people disliked the game. When a game took a risk so big it became so divisive that means it challenged our expectations and the medium as a whole in my opinion. But at the same time I am 100% sure that once all the rage (or let’s call it the excitement of the new release) subsides, lots of people look back and understand what the game was trying to say and achieve. Listen to the song again and compare it to the game. Shawn James is a true poet and poets have the talent of putting feelings we can’t name into words. If you missed the message of the game I promise you this song will clear it for you. Maybe listen to “Ellie’s Song” too if you’re not convinced.
