They don't censor a video like that, the uploader does. Advertisers generally don't like to advertise on a video that shows something being killed, so youtube does not monetize those videos. So any censoring that happens is on the part of the uploader.

Definitely! My thoughts exactly. If they can touch it and feel it is unstable they aren't going to try to jump on it. The perlite needs to be low enough so the mice can see the bait but not touch the 'floor' until they sink under it.

Yes it does work, on squirrels too. Might I suggest lowering your water by a couple more inches for mice, and less pyramidal bait on top, (if going for rats lower water to half)) set bait closer to the middle for a good reach (then dunk.) sprinkle teaser bait on the ramp. I haven't tried this part, but maybe putting a thin but slippery 1 in band of petroleum jelly or food grade oil about two inches below the rim might help the dunk factor as they slide to reach the bait. Great videos. Thank you.

This worked great for the 2 rats living in our attic. I improvised with broken up Styrofoam and a cardboard ramp (with staples for footholds) that I reinforced by wedging a paint can under it. Thanks Shawn!!!!!

This trap has a lot of potential. I guess these could be some improvements: 1) use a bucket where they can't hold to the rim 2) make it just deep enough that they can't reach down to touch it (and see that the ground is unsafe) 3) alter the design that the bait remains in the center

Two points: 1. It looks like the level of the water is important. Some mice held on with their back feet and tested the Perlite with their front feet. Then they pulled back, probably because they realized it was not a solid surface. Lowering the water level to where they have to let go of the top might increase the catch rate. Also you need the water level lower for the rat. 2. Would be interesting to have this trap, the "walk the plank" and a roller trap set up side by side and see which catches more mice.

I noticed that some of the mice, and definitely the rat, were able to hang on to the edge and test the surface with their paws before committing to trying to stand on it. I think if the level of the water was lower so that they would have to jump in to reach the surface that it would be more successful, especially with the rats.

I use something similar for a few years. Styro-peanuts instead and bucket half full to catch rats. I float a yoghurt cup, 1/3 full sand, rest popcorn in middle of nuts. 11 mice and 4 huge rats in one night.

my friend asked me and we made one for his horse barn using a 64 quart tote and it worked well. we used a 1/4 pvc pipe cut to measure with a pipe cap to put the slab of peanut butter on in the middle of the tote (we used hot glue to secure the pipe to the bottom of the tote).then we filled the tote with enough water and Perlite to give the mouse/rat a perception of a solid surface for it to step on to go get the peanut butter.we hoped the large size of the tote gave it a better chance of catching the larger rats also.

Too many weren't caught. Refining required such as an inward lip and moving the ramp up. I'd also add more floating material lets them walk on it for a second. When they push to get out they sink.

Hope you do this trap again but this time use less water. The mice lowered them self down using their back feet.. With less water then they cant lower them self down and touch the soft surface.... so this needs to be tested once more =)
