You have made it possible for the rats to get back out to the glue by fixing it down with screws. With a sprung loaded trap yes fix it down but not a glue mat because if it isn't fixed down when the rat steps In the glue it pulls the glue mat towards itself and falls in and gets it's fur stuck. 👍

Just caught a mouse last night with glue trap. They work fine in room temperatures. Placement is also important. In homes, they run and crawl along the walls and behind furniture. So I place them there and it doesn't take long. They have a two step behavior pattern after invasion: they go from hiding places to feeding places. Take away the hiding places with traps and they can't escape. They are invaders. We don't do humane. Protecting our home through kill has been with us for thousands of years.

You need to clear the entire area of dust. The dust sticks to the bottom of their feet and acts like a sock would. If the sock gets stuck, you can still pull your feet out. That is why you can see dust prints in the glue.

Next time, don't screw it down. The mouse will eventually pull the trap unto itself. And you don't even have to put the bait down. The glue has stuff in it that serve as bait. I have captured lots of mice with those traps.
@jad34152 жыл бұрын
Exactly right. Those screws are what allowed the rat to get it's claws unstuck. If it wasn't screwed down the rat would've backed away with it's stuck claw and the trapped would have flipped on him somehow getting him more stuck. thanks for showing this, no wonder they haven't worked on the rats (they only caught a couple very few small mice). Let me first state I do NOT like glue traps (I didn't realize how long they can live when stuck on them, I just wasn't think when I first bought them). But I am desperate, beyond insane at this point, so I bought these types, and failed with getting rid of rats (they must have gotten stuck a few times and now will not go near them, no matter what food bait I put on them). I have tried every other available methods on market (poison pellets, baking soda mix, snap traps plastic/wood/metal, electric traps, cage trap, bucket flip lids trap). I just don't know what else to do at this point. I had a stray cat and she must have kept them from getting in the house (now she is dead a year, the place is infested with rats/mice). I can't get another cat, or I would. IF you want to keep rodents out adopt a stray cat that likes the outdoors and is a hunter (you won't have a rodent issue).

Those traps are meant to be placed along walls and not to be screwed down. Like other people have said, screwing it down gives the resistance the rat needs to pull itself off. You also don't need to put down bait, the smell of the adhesive itself attracts all sorts of things. I've caught plenty of mice with glue traps. In-fact I caught one last night in an area I didn't expect.

I use glue traps a lot. They are the best. I place a single screw in the middle of each trap to hold it down to a board. These traps shown either are not good ones, or it's too cold there. Glue traps don't work well if it's too cold, the glue stuff gets too stiff and won't stick well enough. I've never caught a rat though, only mice.
@inmyopinion86202 жыл бұрын
I had problems with rats at a rental property, they made themselves at home in the attic. This glue mouse trap OBVIOUSLY is not tough enough. I got one that opens up like a book, and its yellow underneath where the glue is and a white border. Once they get on the board they don't get out. I can't recall the name, but Ace Hardware sells them for just over $5, ⚠️buy the big one that folds open. The only bad thing is usually they're still alive. So! I had to get past that, and put it in a plastic trash bag, and then put it in a box and taped it, and...off to the dumpster they go. At first, it was difficult, but when you have completely remodeled, and you hear them, you get tough after awhile. Do not nail the board down; that apparently gives them leverage to get out.🤔 If they jump or pull the rat will most likely get himself more onto to the trap. Also, the Orkin's guy said they were most likely coming in through the plumbing. You may have to get someone to smoke the pipes to find where the bridge is at. This can get expensive fast. Good luck!

Glue traps need to be in a room temp or hotter places to be effective. The glue solidifies in colder places and isn’t as sticky on the surface, feels more like a silicone jelly. I put my glue traps under my kitchen cubbies and was wondering why the glue traps weren’t catching any mice but the spring traps were, turns out the glue was to hard. Worked fine when I moved them back to room temperature places,

@Deined6 ай бұрын
Along with screwing it down and putting it out in the open, you also, shouldn't have put bait in the trap. Food has oils in it that can degrade the trap's adhesive, making it less sticky. Next time, get one of those glue traps that have a sweet scent like peanut butter to it, then place along a wall or baseboard where you see the rat likes to run. Also, wedge it against the wall, etc. with something heavy enough so that the rat can't drag the trap along if it's only partially caught.

YES!!! Exactly. If the trap moved freely the rat would have pulled it with him. Then he would have, in desperation, used another paw to put into the glue to free the first…. Getting them both stuck

You set the trap wrong. You're supposed to place it against a wall or corner so the rat will have less chances of escaping. The wall/corner blocks that part of escaping.

It's also their behavior to run up against the side of walls to avoid detection. A trap right up against the wall usually gets them in short order in my experience. Prefer to use a snap trap personally. Less work. Probably a little quicker and more efficient

@@michaelcorcoran8768 That's what my exterminator said also. That they run against the walls so it better to put traps there plus it's on the instructions of the traps.

Glue trap that is secured with a string and allowed to move is more successful. Then they can't get a firm grip to pull off.

Time for some stronger glue Catchmaster...lol

I’m going to spoil the most boring KZbin video I’ve seen in forever and tell you all that the mouse doesn’t end up walking on the glue. There, saved you 2 precious minutes of your life that you wouldn’t get back if you clicked on this video

May have to go Old Skool and use a Snap Trap.

yeah you put too much food in there, it was able to eat some without getting to the kill zone. just place em by runways (by the walls)

Good old glue trap works every time! Winner! 😉 must not be a good brand. We get the green tomcat glue traps and they have a softer gooey glue that they can't pull out of.

Believe it or not but both my mutt dogs took care of our mice and rabbit issue around the house!

If the trap hadn't been secured you probably would have caught him somewhere else in the house with the trapped attached to him

These glue traps are pretty messed up, I put one out and got 3 small mice on one, and they all ended up pulling so hard that they shit all their guts out and died sometime later. Pretty terrible. You screwed up by the way it wasn't the traps fault. Wtf is with the auto-sensing light RIGHT where the food is???
