In Space, nobody remembers you're Genocides (PS!Outertale Chaotic Route)

21:18 Since the full version of PS!Outertale released I've noticed that a decent amount of people seem to be surprised to see Asriel acting evil. I'd just like to point out that in Undertale, when Asriel finally restores his true form, the first thing he does is try to kill you while ranting about becoming God and resetting everything. It's only after "saving" him that he stops attacking. I think a lot of people think of Flowey and Asriel as two completely different people, and while they are not EXACTLY the same they definitely aren't completely different either. The experiences of Asriel directly influence the character of Flowey, in both neutral and genocide he regularly refers back to his first life as Asriel. The experiences of Flowey directly influence the character of Asriel. That's why the first thing he says when he regains his form is "I was so tired of being a flower." That's why at the end of the fight he begs Frisk for forgiveness. He still remembers all the things he did as Flowey, but now he's changed, not because he changed form but because when he called for help someone finally answered back. That's why when he ultimately reverts back to Flowey, he doesn't go back to trying to reset everything, instead he begs you not to reset, because at the end of the day Flowey IS Asriel. Tl;dr I think Spacey has a pretty good understanding of Asriel's character and this route is based.

this is true, I 100% agree with what you've said here, but I feel like the inclusion of Asriel somewhat dilutes what he meant in Undertale. Not to say Undertale is somehow retroactively worse, but that the material being borrowed from Undertale isn't being used to its full effect. And this is fine, spacey's Outertale is ultimately a passionate fan project, I can't fault it for taking the parts it wanted to and using them to do something that's also very cool.

It makes sense for him to not have a battle here. The humans are alive in the archive, so he'd have to kill them to use their SOULs which... Yeah. Not to mention the SOULs would make him unbeatable anyway. He would be a hard battle just on his own, however, he has no reason to fight as he knows you'll eventually win anyway. Blowing you up while you are asleep would at least give him a chance of victory. The second hologram is the moment he gives up on convincing Asriel. You can understand which Hologram is Alphys and which are Asgore from the way he talks, which is also cool.

I thought Asgore basically kamikazed himself, with Asriel and Frisk blowing up the whole kingdom, which would've killed him and all of the human souls, and he just set up Asriel and Frisk's escape pod to self destruct afterwards in a final act to kill them. In that scenario I don't see much reason for him to NOT just use all of the souls if the humans gonna die by explosion anyways, but I never expected him to use the souls, that would be out of character I feel. He'd want to save them at all costs to hopefully free the people who remain. But this whole thing is WAY off topic anyways so it doesn't matter too much, I wasn't talking about lore at all, or even saying this specific fangame should've had an Asgore fight. Lore can lore however it wants, I just want to see one of these full fangames have a genocide Asgore fight. I'm not saying that all of the ones that don't are bad or illogical, and PS!Outertale specifically seems really cool from everything I've seen of it so far. Just throwing out my t h i r s t for Asgore, and appreciating that they let him do something in Genocide in this fangame at least, fight or not.

I love the way Asriel/ Twinkly is portrayed in this! Flowey’s story in the base game is so interesting, so him having more of a presence as Asriel/Twinkly really allows his character to develop. The moments with Asgore and Chara, as well as the whole backstory were amazing! This is such a cool take on the route! =)

Hey shay, there is a secret ending you can get in the genocide route. If you fight and spare napstablook before killing all the monsters, spare papyrus, muffet and mad dummy, and only go through the puzzle room instead of the room with the enemies in the core, you will get a different ending.

i kinda of don't like the lack of a mercy button in this route but i understand that with asriel around it may be hard to try and fit in a way for the mercy option to work. (which is also why you can spare in all the instances of this route where asriel is not with you). point is in Undertale having the mercy button always present just serves as a reminder that you have the power, the free will and the choice to not kill anyone and yet you do it anyway. but ps!outertale isn't really going for that messaging of having the choice so again, i see why it was omitted.

belief it or not, there is an item that can let you spare monsters in this run. It is hard to obtain and is the said Epiphany artifact, I had the pleasure of holding this very item in my aborted secret geno run. to assure I wouldnt kill monsters. Not only does this artifact let you spare monsters, it also has a few different effects as well. but thats on the weaker monsters

Well, in OG undertale Asgore break your mercy button, I don't see diference there as both just force you to figth for live and death, Asgore to figth him and Asriel to figth monsterkind.

After LOVE 0 Pacifist you can try either. Abandoned Genocide: Try to spare people when Asriel isn't around. Dark Neutral: Kill all monsters but leave one monster alive in the outlands. Bully Route: Spare monsters when they are low on health. (If the monster's health don't turn to purple then just spare them normal way or if it's Jerry then ditch this sucker.) Do not save Monster Kid. (Found out saving or abandoning him does not matter) Save Undyne. Attack the Lost Souls in True Pacifist Asriel fight. You can run away from Toriel too when she enters her house but you don't. Bully Route ending is dark bro..

I don't. Sans is still a important character in UT and Geno, and this game severely lessened his importance and downplayed him. (Also, plenty of stuff give focus and/or etc. to other characters nowadays). It is a full game, u can still give attention to other characters, while still giving attention to Sans too. They could have at least made him more important in one route, but the best we get is the dark neutral ending, which is still pretty OOC for OG Sans (like, he seems barely angry despite how many are dead? Including Paps and Toriel? it is weird to me. I know this an AU, but come on, this game got rid of his more dark and serious sides so much. Hell, OG Sans actually gets more upset when u kill people than OT Sans.; despite OG Sans' time knowledge, apathy, etc. I guess more nice doesn't equal more moral). Also, the Chaotic route could have at least made him Sans a character. Not only does he just die basically, in a pointless and OOC (to OG Sans) and kind of stupid way, and not get a fight. He doesn't even get stuff like his interactions with u in Snowdin and etc. in the OG Geno route. He just dies in the very beginning. He is basically almost written as a pure plot device in the Chaotic route. And not a real great way. They could have at least given more characterization and not killed as fast and/or in kind of a dirty way (imo) that they did. This is all just imo though.

The skelebros was the moment I sat up and said "Ohhhhh, this game has _stones,_ though". Starly at the end of the first area is a shock, but the subsequent one-two punch is a brutal statement that nope, you ain't seen this one before. Everyone and their cousin does Beliefswap Dusthorror VHSshane AUs where Sans is the main character and Papyrus gets a look-in if he's lucky. I love the bros but I roll my eyes when I see a new fangame centring them, because how do so many fan creators obsess over them to the exclusion of everyone else, yet completely fail to characterise them right? "uhh well sans goes on a killing spree and he says have a MAD time because that's a thing he would definitely do and not a completely different character" (Sorry, I'm just. So done with that stuff.) The murder route brings out the tragically heroic side in everyone (except Asgore, who straight-up snaps and goes into denial... which is also interesting to explore). There is SO much mileage left for Undyne, Alph, MTT etc. So, lacking the ability to create stuff myself, I celebrate when I see a fangame buck the trend and centre someone like Alphys.

And being unique or different doesn't mean it is good or better either. Also, even if you want more stuff w/ other characters, this game treating and writing the skelebros (ESP. in the Chaotic route, though I do have issues w/ them in other routes) not all that well. Like, Sans esp. BARELY feels like Sans. Like, u complain about fangames about Sans not even characterizing Sans right, but PS!OT doesn't even come close to characterizing Sans either. But I guess it is okay to get Sans wrong, not treat him right, and take away stuff from him, just because him (and Paps) are "popular". Even though, there is nothing wrong with characters getting love and attention. And even though, stuff has been focusing on other characters for years at this point, including fangames. With some fangames barely including them, not including them at all, writing them not well (imo), not treating them well, so combo of these things, etc. Seriously though, I just can't understand how writing and treating Sans and to a lesser, but still doing so, imo, not well, is somehow a good thing? It really isn't'. Also, what tragic heroic side does PS!OT"s Geno (Chaotic) route show of Sans? He got basically nothing. And Paps didn't even get a fight, and basically made Sans' already stupid, OOC, etc. death pointless. Because he neither gives a fight or even lives all that long (if u keep doing the Geno route) after Sans saves him. It also just made a smart character act stupid and OOC (of the OG game, at least) just to kill him off basically. There were better ways they could killed Sans, that would have given him more depth and character, while still allowing focus on other characters, as well as him, but they didn't do that. Like, this game basically didn't actually write Sans as an actual character on the Chaotic route. He was written as a plot device for Paps kind of and Alphys. It would be one thing if he got a fight or at least some more characterization first before dying. But nope, he basically got nothing, and just died. You thinking PS!OT doing what they did to the skelebros gives them stones, but to me, killing off, not writing well, excluding Sans and/or Paps is neither all that good or unique anymore, and it is also, just not good either. Characters should be written and treated well. Including Sans and Paps. Like, you get annoyed by this "I see a new fangame centering them, because how do so many fan creators obsess over them to the exclusion of everyone else, ", but yet, it is okay to do the same thing to Sans and/or Paps? Saying that, I once again find it so funny u complaining about Sans not being characterized "right", and just being a completely different character. When PS!OT does exactly that. Idk, I just find that funny. Anyways, u can think what u want. I just don't think Sans and Paps should be written and treated badly, Like, u can given focus and attention to other characters and treat them well, and still do the same to Sans and Paps.

At this point, I suggest there is nothing in this fangame for you. The writing for all the major characters is bad, not just your faves, and you don't enjoy the story choices they make, sooooo I'd recommend you stick to TS!Underswap, which at least makes an attempt with the bros, and Undertale Yellow, where the question's mercifully moot.

Like it isn't compleatly copy-pasted Undertale with different sprites but it isn't different enough for you to be most of the time thinking "this wouldn't be said in Undertale." Also, just in case you were serious with you saying "The writing of all mayor characters is bad" in the pacifist route most characters are right. The reason for that is that the creator only decided to make a fangame with this and the "lv0" idea they had with a "perfect" route. Any other route was not really something they desired, so like they said "So the ending of these routes were... hit or miss, as I didn't have a true passion for every aspect of them. If you enjoyed them, then that's awesome, but I do Regret depending so much time on something I wasn't as deeply passionate about." So yeah that's why there is so much difference In dialogue between lv 0/1 route and chaotic route. The lv 0/1 route does actually get the characters very on point.

I like how all the entries for the key characters in the Core are laid out according to which they are most associated: Toriel at the beginning of the game; Papyrus is on puzzler path, and Undyne is on fighter path; Sans on a long bridge (maybe this is the beginning of the Snowdin forest or the Last Corridor idk); Mettaton next to the big stage (possibly a metaphor to the biggest location - Hotland); and at the very end of the Core is Asgore. I don’t know if they did this on purpose, but it’s still cool.

But, like, can we maybe tone it down a bit? I'm really going for more of a "silent, unstoppable force of nature" kind of evil and when you keep having to interrupt and insult everyone we kill, it just kind of throws off that vibe.
