Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!! If you could say some prayers for my son he got an very upsetting diagnosis this past week. 🙏 and we hope and pray he will be ok . Prayers for strength and guidance. The holidays been very hard this year since dad in hospurus and now praying my son we can manage this rare genetic syndrome. TBH that's disputable. For example young Nigerian dwarf goat and juvenile antelope kids or Fennec fox cups seems to to as much adorable than your examples. And these are only some examples of countless extremely cute young animals. Maybe some of these are even 'cuter' than your examples.

My auntie is a cattle breeder (not a beef producer) but occasionally in the case of injury or other calamity, they have to send a calf to the freezer. She has told me before that if you leave your bulls intact, the meat is inedible. I don’t know first hand, but she is extremely knowledgeable regarding cattle so I believe her. I’m just telling you this so you can do your own research regarding this little bull calf.

Congrats on the new baby. Throughout my single mom life, I did a lot of container gardens. At least 2-3 large containers, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, yep they all worked. Many experimental and all successful. These were on the balconies of the different apartments. A small house I rented afforded up enough space for tomatoes, potatoes, corn and some greens. And greenbeans. I gave the landlord some to keep him from helping himself (extremely). Family couldn't believe I could get it accomplished. My grandmother helped me wiht the canning. Container gardening helped sustain my family of two boys and myself. Bacvk then it was all from seeds and my boys helped.

I’m a ‘one-off’ admirer of you. I just watched the interview Justin Rhodes did with you and Jeremiah. I’m 76, female, non-church goer and a liberal from RI living unhappily in Tampa area. Watching you brings back memories of my little one acre plot that I bought at 50 where I gardened and grew everything from asparagus to zucchini. I started gardening at 23 and now I’m down to growing in a Greenstalk. I’m not happy here in a city (too many people and too few trees and wildlife). I’m trying to find the finances to move back to rural RI. It’s a big step and I feel a bit a a failure. I moved here to be near my son and his young family, but we don’t have a lot of interaction with them or as much as I need, maybe. It will be sad to leave these little kids, but I’m not fitting in and feeling the need to move on. I’m seeing a counselor and trying to come to a decision……it’s scary, but my happy time/place is walking in the woods and breathing in the smells and sounds. Wish me luck to either accept my tiny city plot or move on to a new adventure. Kudos to you and Jeremiah.

Florida has a lot of cheap areas to farm and spread out. You will be suprised. Might want to ask around or talk to a real estate agent or even go in Zillow. The areas would be 2-3 hours away from Tampa but a lot more of what you are looking for. You could still be close to your family but get land as well

I'm not from the US so have no real concept of thanksgiving but it feels like a lovely time to get with family, which is what the Christmas weeks are all about for us. You and Miah are just the sweetest with your in-jokes that you let everyone else in on. You all remind me of my big farming family but from across the pond, so very close,wholesome and sweet. I'm thankful for how close and loving generations of my family are every single day. I finally bought my first Greenstalk (5 tier + support ring + rotating base w/wheels) for myself as a Christmas gift. Thank you for always keeping us updated on sales! I plan to use this for strawberries, leafy greens, herbs, flowers, and smaller tomato varieties. I am so excited to add this into my urban garden! I own a corner home in the SF Bay Area and started my first container garden in my front and side yard. I will eventually do some raised beds (in back and front side yards) but not until we finish a few needed renovations. This Greenstalk will be a great way to save my back (fusions) and keep leafy greens cleaner.

I am thankful to hear you have been well advised regarding Jersey bulls. What you've been told is 100% correct! For all of your dehorning, I highly recommend using dehorning paste while they are very young. It's the least invasive and the easiest. Congrats on the new baby!

We breed with jersey bulls, an old farmer once told me: When they start to become darker in color, so their brown starts to turn black, their hormones are changing and you have about 4-6 months after that before they start freaking out. We absolutely love our jersey bulls, they normally last for one breeding and after that they go to camp. So between 18-30 months. Sometimes we get two breeds from them before they start to get darker.

Definitely don't want an overly friendly Jersey bull. That being said, home raised Jersey bulls, in my experience, turn out pretty good. In all my years, I've never had an aggressive one. Could have just been fortunate but I also would send them to freezer camp after a breeding season so haven't had to deal with an older one. Yours is a solid plan.

I have not had cattle but I have had a friend who bred Cattle and her pal also was a breeder of Cattle. Both effectively said not to keep bulls because of the danger.
