I’m a retired hairstylist. I’ve seen so many people that have screwed up their hair then came into my shop and asked me to fix it. The worst was a woman that had really dark hair. She bleached her hair 5 times in 1 day. After I shampooed and conditioned her hair, you could see my black cape through her hair when I comes it. Her hair literally turned to mush when I cut it. She had long hair, but didn’t want much length cut off , but wanted the damage cut off the top! I gave her the haircut she asked for and it looked awful. I prayed she wouldn’t tell ANYONE who had cut her hair as I was just starting out at the time! People never fail to surprise me anymore. Lol
@Bullen_3 Жыл бұрын
I'll never forget this client I had. She was probably up there with the top 3 worse clients,I ever had (but more on that in a bit). Well,anyways she had over bleached her hair from a level 4,and then went into an "over chlorinated hot tub" (doubtful). Her hair was fried and coming out. So she told me she wanted it short. So I cut it short. It wasn't a pixie cut it was a bit longer,but. She TOLD me what she wanted and I gave her just that. When I was almost done,she asked why I cut "so short" I told that's she asked for. I gently told her that it was breaking off anyway and would of ended up..short anyway. She flips out. Blaming me,for ruining her hair. (😂). Accused me of "chopping it off way too short, blah blah blah". The manager stood by me and she left. But it wasn't over. The hair salon I was working in was in a mall. She proceeded to go to other shops and was bitching about me and how I chopped her,and then fking came back to stand out in front of salon and was pointing at me,loudly saying how bad I ruined her hair and what a horrible hairdresser I was..and I was done. I had security escort her out, because that's harassment. Yeah,she was a real winner,lol.
@Hello_Spaceboy11 ай бұрын
That must be one of the hardest parts of being a hairdresser.. I used to do the same thing, fry the crap out of my hair and then try to keep the length while "getting the damage cut off".. Finally I learned to just say "I'm cool with whatever, do whatever you need to do" and I'm usually quite happy with the results!

I have a pretty severe phobia of getting my hair cut. I hadn't had a haircut in over eighteen years because just thinking about it made me have panic attacks. I really wanted to take off some of the dead ends and shorten it enough to take a bit of curl for the vintage styles I prefer. I even considered doing it myself, as I have colored my own hair for years and been happy with the results. However, after watching a ton of Hair Buddha videos, I finally talked myself into finding a salon with good reviews. I called ahead and explained and she was incredibly sweet and encouraging. She took the time to talk with me about what I wanted and was careful not to cut off more than I wanted. Yesterday, I got about ten inches of hair cut off and I am thrilled. I can't wait to redo my color and see what it looks like with some curls. Thanks for helping me make a better choice than trying to cut it myself.

I’m a natural blonde and even though many hairdressers have told me that I’m lucky to have hair that others pay hundreds at a time to get, I always thought “the grass was greener on the other side”. I’ve died my hair copper, light brown, highlights and lowlights, but today I can finally say that I am so happy with my natural colour and I’ll never mess around with it again. Too much time, money and upkeep. Whatever colour you are, if you are trying to bleach it, leave it for the pros. If you want a slight change, get a dye from the drugstore and follow the instructions. Don’t do complicated things with your hair yourself. It’s not worth the headache and tears. But remember this over everything: if you do mess up, it’s only hair. It will grow back. :)

I started out with really light blonde hair and it's gotten darker over the years. I choked my own hair for years because my mom didn't like my "dishwater blonde". I've burnt my scalp, I've been so many colors. I get it professionally done these days and I get in miss and want it drastically changed in length it color. I asked my stylist to never let me have bangs again and she will give my a look when I want to get creative with color. She's the sanity in my hairs life. I've been blessed to have hair that can take some serious damage.

@@crittermama I hate the term "dishwater blonde", it's like it's a way to say it's ugly cuz it's darker than other blondes. anyways, the definition of dishwater blonde is "dark blonde with flecks of gold" and that sounds so pretty only to be referred to as "dishwater" wth

Agree. I went through a wild phase that was 15 years of highlights, golden blonde, platinum, dirty blonde, a dark brown, money pieces (in 2000s we didn’t really call them that though), then the all over skunky highlights look, red, then a raven black for several years, ash, lilac, back to platinum, etc. it was no surprise that after so many years, I buzzed it off to where it was just 2 inches of my natural roots. I hadn’t seen my natural hair color in so long that I almost forgot what it was (a light golden brown). I’ve let it grow since for the last 5-6 years - no coloring, no bleaching. It grew down to my tailbone (5’7”), and last week I got it cut by a friend/stylist up to my shoulders. I can tolerate growing it out a few more years, but I’m fine with never going through the woes of coloring or bleaching again. Keeping it healthy is a lot easier and cheaper to maintain lol.

It's insane she has so much hair and I inherited none!! --- having said that: even with my super fine and thin hair I can feel the difference when mine is up. I can't imagine how hot it must get woth ACTUAL hair

Dude, she cut half her hair off with one cut of her scissors. Don’t tell her to keep cutting her hair, lol! She needs a beanie hat and a ride to a salon. Do not encourage her. 😂🙄😂

My hair is naturally black-brown, and I only used box bleach ONCE in my entire life. It was bright yellow, and I managed to miss some spots. I ended up going to a salon to get my color fixed. Now, my hair is professionally dyed in peacock colors, and the first appointment took 5 hours. Each subsequent appointment takes roughly 3-4 hours, and it's worth the time and money to get it done right!

Your channel is my new favorite. I can’t believe how entertaining (and educational) this is. After binging a lot of videos, I feel pretty clear about what not to do to my hair…lol.

Never underestimate the true need for the professionals. Even if only 1 in 10 gets your hair exactly the way you want them to....it's still better to let a professional do it.

I remember when I was 16, bangs were making a comeback (14 years ago). I have curly hair, and I had the brilliant idea of wetting my hair first, pulling my hair down and cutting it. It was well about my eyebrows:-/ we live and learn

My mother got her cosmetology license and the one thing she emphasized was if you want a drastic change in hair color then you go to the professionals because it will always cost more and the damage to your hair is irreversible.

There are so many different hair styles that first girl could get without resorting to shaving off her entire head. I hope she had someone intervene and take her to a salon before doing it.

Oh boy that Color Oops is a chore... it works by shrinking the hair color molecules. Then you have to rinse for half an hour to get it all out. If you don’t get it all out... it’s just like you did next to nothing. It definitely won’t fixed stained hair either.
