It doesn't show her what _will_ happen, it shows all the possibilities that _can_ happen and how probable each possibility is. So she can see "If we do this, then A will most likely happen, and we can respond with B which will lead to C; but X could happen instead, which we should respond with Y to cause Z," and so on. Unfortunately they don't know anything about what Peridot or Homeworld is capable of or what's coming to Earth, so Garnet can't predict what's going to happen; the present information they have just isn't enough to predict anything at all.

I always describe garnet's future vision as like a super advanced predictive algorithm. in familiar situations and the very immediate future she's very accurate, but the more information she's missing and the further in the future she looks, the less she can see. in a situation like this where she has no idea whatsoever what's coming, her future vision has little use

That's an excellent description. I would also add that she uses personal judgement in deciding her response to the possible scenarios. If she sees three possible outcomes she uses her own knowledge and experience to decide which is most likely, and she responds accordingly. However, if she misjudges the likelihood then her response can be very wrong. This was shown when she first told Steven about future vision. She saw the possibilty that it would make him paranoid, and she told him anyway because she thought the possibility that he would take it well was more likely.

audiophile here. a flanger is a type of musical effect that distorts audio by playing a slightly out of tune duplication of the original signal. this creates a sort of "swooshing" noise due to the different pitches clashing together. in fact, all the effects that Greg runs the sound from the wailing stone through are designed to further distort the audio in some way, which i find kinda funny

I love that 'Political Power' leans into that feeling, NONE of them know what's going to happen, not even Garnet, due to her future vision being possibly blacked out by [REDACTED], and in real life, it can be hard to know what to say to each other in the leadup to a possibly dire situation, or how to explain the situation to younger family members. the show's answer seems to be, "be honest, without giving into despair, and lean on each other." I know every continuity mistake ever made on television.” If you take each episode of Steven Universe that has a continuity mistake (in release order, because Steven specifies “on television”) and find the average, that is, the episode in the middle of them, you will find… that you have wasted your time :)

I often think of Garnet's future vision as like a Grand Master in chess being able to see like 20 moves ahead. Given how long they've been away from Homeworld, Garnet probably doesn't have enough information to make any accurate predictions. Fun little fact about Mayor Dewey, he's named after Dewey Beach in Delaware, one of the premiere beaches in the Delaware/Maryland area of the U.S. that inspired Beach City. Spoilers: Pearl has villain arc. She discovers all the Pearls on homeworld are a seriously abused servant class and can’t let this sit. She changes her spear into a scythe with some tech modifications and uses it to poof the Pearls, which erases their servant programming thanks to the mods, and she rallies them into an army. She turns on the Crystal Gems when they disapprove of her methods getting too extreme. She comes back! But she’s so wracked with guilt she stays inside her gem for a whole season.

Garnet's "future vision" seems to work similar to doctor strange from the marvel universe. So she doesn't necessarily see exactly what will happen but the possibilities of a problem and various solutions. So she can see who is coming and what they will do but its how to stop them that is complicated because there are many ways that the confrontation can go wrong.

Like when she gave Steven her power and he could see all the possible outcomes of his decisions. However, her future vision's wide range can be somewhat of a drawback. i love how political power was written/directed it's so smart and so effective. you've got the silly a plot with steven who doesn't really grasp what's going on, and then the b plot with the gems that's extremely serious and tense, and the way the two plots intertwine and parallel each other. The adults trying so hard to tiptoe around the situation, to not burden and stress out steven, because he's still just a kid. LITERAL ALIENS coming to your planet, armed, is a lot of responsibility to drop onto a tween. even if he has powers.

I'm pretty sure this is the RIGHT episode order. I watched the show when it was still airing (caught up in season 3) and the order you're watching them in is the same order I watched them in. In fact, it was the _only_ order back then. It wasn't until years later that a new messed up order came out. If you watch older reactions to Steven Universe, they'll all be in this (correct) order. But if you watch more recent ones, from within the last couple of years, almost everybody will be messing up the order, thanks to streaming services having the order wrong. I watched the show, and many reaction series, about 8 years ago. Season 1 always ended with The Message, Political Power, The Return, and Jailbreak, in that order. And Say Uncle was never in season 1, it was season 2 episode 2, after Full Disclosure. I don't know who messed up the order, or when, but you've got the order we all watched it in back then.
