To Kara: For those of us who are very goal oriented we learn to depend on our Will Power to power our way through difficulty... especially if we’re still in our 20s. In our 20s, we’re made out of rubber; we bounce back from any physical abuse we challenge our body with. Eventually we learn will power has its limits... especially when we hit our 30s. In our 30s we’re no longer made of rubber and moving forward, we learn to think things through, strategize, and most importantly, learn to accept when will power alone isn’t enough to see us through. Congratulations, you’ve crossed an important and valuable watershed in your growth.

Actually if your knee hurts while pedaling - it may be because the seat setting is to low or too high. There should be a springiness on each turn of the pedal, if it's not there - try a different setting. The rule of thumb (or rather butt) is standing on heel with the pedal in the lowest position. Your cheek should be touching the surface of the seat. If it's not - change the setting.

Hey Kara, I know how you feel... fell down the steps a couple of years ago and thought I tore my ACL. Pain was so bad I felt like life was over. Woke up one more and rolled out of bed only to fall to the floor in excruciating pain. My wife came running over to help me and I just burst out in uncontrollable tears. Probably because I have never felt so helpless in my life. She got me to the ortho doc who eventually figured out that it was just a really bad gouty arthritis flair up and not a torn ACL. I am way out of shape but had bought a recumbent bike through the pandemic and just recently a Lectric ebike with pedal assist to get back out and on the road. Cheer up! Love you, Kara and Nate! I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated watching your videos through Covid. I’m a big proponent of travel to learn new cultures and see new places. I retired as a teacher to travel more and then Covid hit. Somehow, in all of this, my husband found your Buc ee’s video and made me sit down and watch it. I thought it was special and looked you up to see what else you have uploaded. To my delight, I found the rest of your vlogs and five years worth of travel videos that I could watch to substitute for all the traveling I couldn’t do. One of the first places you went when travel restrictions lightened a little was Rome. And I told my daughter, if they can do it, we can do it. So in February 2022, my daughter and I went to Rome, Florence, Sienna and Montalcino. My husband and I are going to the Galapagos in five weeks and can’t wait. We watched all of your Vlogs of the Galapagos and I turned to him and said that’s what I’ve always wanted to do. I had two places, two big places, on my bucket list and the Galapagos was one of them. We booked exactly the same trip that you took and can not wait to go. Thank you for all that you’ve done for all of us frustrated travelers. I’m only one year into your videos and every time I sit down to watch I am just amazed at your video quality and stories and ability to tell your tale.

I’m sorry you got hurt. I know how frustrating it is to have such high expectations for yourself, only to have your body betray you. I’m so invested in y’all’s story. You two remind me of my husband and I when we first got married. Unfortunately, we never went abroad, but we do travel extensively. My favorite times are setting the UPS to avoid highways. We could end up lost somewhere in northern Wyoming or Oregon, seeing amazing sunsets in places most people miss. Once we went to a drum corp rehearsal, a music museum, Corn Palace, the 1820s town, the Badlands, Wall, hiked around Devils Tower, and took a nap in Yellowstone, all in one three day trip. It was phenomenal! The connection and love you two share is so far beyond typical benefits of marriage. You actually LIKE each other. The times between the laughter and life. The quiet times, when everything is said in only the silence and heartbeats. You have the stuff needed to celebrate your 50th anniversary. The one that gets you in the paper with a list of grandkids next to a reprint of your wedding day. The stories you will tell! Thank you for taking us around the world with you.

Kara! You did amazing! That is such a physically intense course and for you to pursue that is amazing in general, but to troop through an injury for as long as you did? What a trooper! We are all so proud of you! Circumstances don't define how successful you are, but it's your mindset. you have an outstanding and selfless mindset!

Always remind yourself how great your body is and how hard it is working and caring for us - every cell in our body is trying to protect and heal us. When it's giving us signs we should at any chance listen to it and give it a rest. Despite all the pain and sadness, dear Kara, you are living a life many people only can dream of - it's like 50 lives in one. Much love.

Kara did her best, that is all anyone could do. I applaud her for it, and I’m glad that Nate is very supportive towards Kara. I wish all the best and fruitful future for both of you.

Awesome job! Make sure you get a bike fit done, it will drastically change how your body interacts with the bike and allow you to do much further distances in comfort!

We will always support you Kara, and we hope that you get better. If you are reading this, you are probably already done with the Tuscany trail, but please get better. Whenever I watch y’all’s videos, it just makes my day better. Don’t stop. Don’t give in.

First, what an amazing experience with such a wonderful group of people including the support team that made the stop-overs so amazing; also to see you all pushing Kara through the last kilometres. Incredible...!

This vlog made my week. I've been thinking about Charlie and wondering what he's been up to, and here he is. Obviously this is in the past but I feel like I manifested him... I blame rewatching all your old vlogs from the beginning 🤣🤣🤣

The whole video: The end: Kara wrecked a foot before the finish line. Aw that was such a great episode! I’m glad Kara is ok and that it was probably a temporary injury due to the seat/pedal height. Man what a difference it can make to the group dynamic for someone else to pop in. It felt like a big party atmosphere when Charlie arrived. How absolutely lovely were so many of the beautiful Italian people that you met along the way. The lady with the cherries 🍒💕🥰💕😊💕 This was a beautiful and heartwarming series to watch. Thanks for bringing us the best of times before what is likely the end of days. Xx

Kara, as someone who has had many injuries (and surgeries) over the years I have had to miss out on a lot of events as well and it is beyond frustrating. But I want to celebrate you for not allowing the injury and situation hold you back or keep you down. I have been following you and Nate for a while now and you do a beautiful job of showing the realness of a situation without letting it overcome you. I respect you both so much and genuinely hope to meet you one day! Ps. Kara, where do you shop for clothes? You literally have the cutest style and I'm a fan. Haha! :D

Loved the video! Y’all really bring the viewer into the experience from the footage on the bikes, stops to eat along the way, the views, the struggles, and the successes. Inspires me to want to do more in my own life.
