Hey everyone!
Lovebites was my first introduction to japanese music and I love them ever since!
Also I learned to play the piano for over 10 years but haven't played a lot these last years, simply because I don't have a piano at hand where I live right now and also because I'm learning the guitar now too. :P
Loved the Helloween cover, so let's check out the rest! :D

That’s a very difficult song to arrange for piano. She somehow manages to replicate guitar riffs, guitar solos, vocal harmonies, vocal lines and a keyboard solo. Miyako’s mother used to play Purple and Rainbow, so she has a lot of respect for Ritchie Blackmore. Check out the live Purple version from The California Jam 1974.

It's been far too long since I listened to the original of Burn. Probably my second favourite Deep Purple song after Child in Time. I was surprised to see it on the tracklist because it's rooted in the blues, whereas the EP was partly about showing the similarities between metal and classical music. But also, I couldn't really imagine Burn as a solo piano piece. Anyway, Miyako made it work of course, and I like the diversity that it gives the EP.

I am not extremely familiar with Deep Purple either, I know their "Made In Japan" live album pretty well but that's about it (I did know this track though). But I guess there is a good reason why they are mentioned as "proto-metal" with Black Sabbath (both very much rooted in blues). You can clearly hear the influences later heavy metal bands took from them and there is no doubt some of their sound/ideas influenced metal as a whole. It is probably also why I enjoy their music as much as I do. And yes, a great cover by Miyako as well. I think it works really well on piano, honestly metal has plenty of classical influences (mainly heavy/thrash/power metal, extreme metal not so much).

I would argue even extreme metal can be really bluesy (at least be strongly influenced). One of my favourite albums is 'Revocation / The Outer Ones', which is definately death/extreme metal, but still has a lot of that feeling especially in the soli!

❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 hahaha common man when you first started guitar didn't you try to play Smoke on the Water at least once ? lol that song and Stairway to Heaven are rights of passage for all guitarists lol I would bet anything Miyako learned them in her first month of playing ( and most likely perfectly lol ) I have heard you say rock is simple many times I do not think you have actually listened to enough classic rock , sure there are simple songs radio friendly so to speak but there are way more complex and deep songs then simple ones the simple ones are just what made it to mainstream radio back then most times . Deep Purple is the perfect example of this , Smoke on the Water is very simple so of course it was their biggest hit . but most of their music was more like what you just listened too

Yeah I guess I mostly listened to the stuff that was in the radio back then, so maybe I was just exposed to the more 'mainstream'-friendly songs 🤔 I'm actually thinking about maybe throwing in some classic rock albums, I think there's A TON I haven't heard that would be considered a must-listen! Feel free to leave me a recommendation for a good start 😉 And no I actually have never played smoke on the water before 😅 I haven't actually played any songs from other artists, just one or two riffs, but on purpose. The way I learned to play piano was almost exclusively through playing songs and I think that's the reason why after 10 years I still can't improvise or compose my own stuff on piano. Other reasons as well like me being a stupid kid who didn't want to practice even though it was fun 😑 but still I already can do that on guitar after not even 2 years of just experimenting with the instrument for myself. (I tried to find some Babymetal tabs a couple of times, but it's mostly for 7 string and different tunings so I never even played that 😳)

@@react-o-mat Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) is a must listen to alum this is the one you should do first it will knock that whole simple thing right out of your head lol . i can recommend hundreds more but you should start with that it is considered one of the if not the greatest albums of all time. I also do best by just jamming my own stuff however i do know some songs lol i can play smoke on the water and stairway to Heaven ( the acoustic parts perfectly still learning the electric lead solo though my wife made me lol )

@@react-o-mat doing my own thing is why i love the blues so much no blues player ever plays the same song the same way it is all improv and what you are feeling at that moment a great blues player can take 5 or less notes and create a lead that blows any speed metal fast as hell scale running out of the water

@@ericdarlington2332 I know that one and that might be a good example actually 😅 I agree it's a great album (pretty experimental tbh) and I can enjoy something like this a lot under the right circumstances, but in general this style of music is just too slow paced for my personal taste. I really love music for the energy it can give me, that's why I'm drawn to metal, modern, japanese music and the crazier stuff out there. (Also why I love Band-Maid so much, because they add exactely that energy to their music) Albums like this are good, but it just doesn't give me what I am longing for (most of the time) in my music. ... I guess of all that is just a big way of saying 'It's not really for me' 😂 so I'm still not sure if I will do something like this on my channel. But I will give this a relisten when I find some time and see how I feel about it then 😉👍
