Regarding representation. That's a tricky one. You all have to realize that Genshin Impact's story team is culturally Chinese. And unlike the U.S., China never had a history of race-based chattel slavery, at least not to the extent that the US has. China has a different a value system and cultural mores when it comes to race. As recent as 2018 there was a skit on a variety show in China that celebrated African culture. Several actors dressed up in African attire and appeared in blackface. The Chinese government received international backlash from that skit and they apologized. You might not believe this but China has never subjugated brown people. Not anything like what the U.S. did to black people or what Britain did to Bengal/India. The Chinese writers for Genshin Impact have a completely different perspective on race and culture than you do. They don't really have brown characters in Genshin Impact because they don't want to offend you. They are in an impossible position. If they put black and brown characters in the game they get accused of being insensitive and engaging in blackface. If they don't put black and brown characters in the game they get accused of having a lack of representation. They chose to get accused of having a lack of representation. They chose the less severe option.

@@emery120 You misunderstand. Please understand. There's nothing culturally stopping GI's writers from having PoC represented in their game. They don't have PoC represented in their game because, 1) some of it is the writer's axiom, "write what you know". 2) And THE major reason is: they don't want to offend western sensibilities. They don't have PoC represented in the game because they ARE sensitive to western culture. Not because they're insensitive. When they changed Jean, Rosaria, Amber and Mona's costumes you all assumed that it was because of CHINESE regulations and censorship. If that were true, why didn’t they also change Ganyu, Beidou, Ningguang, or Keqing’s costumes? Furthermore, why do the Natlan characters we’ve seen so far are less covered up than the changed Mondstat characters? They’re trying to be sensitive to the German and Christian diaspora living in China. If it’s any consolation, most of the English voice cast of Sumeru are people of color. TL;DR The Chinese writers of Genshin Impact don’t have people of color represented in their game because they ARE sensitive to western sensibilities. Not because they are insensitive.

Later on Rukhedevata mimic the past memories and use her power to bring back to forest green sumeru back but only half of it became forest. Rainforest for Rukhedevata and Desert for Deshret. Ashikai have should video that explain that. In regards to what you mentioned at the end of your video, my problem is that it's very clear they can make characters with different skin tones. NPCs in Sumeru were very diverse. There was even the one in Jehts quest with brown skin and locs. So I think some people and myself are wondering why they can't do that with playable characters too.

That’s true, but then again looking back at the character roster of sumeru, all of the desert characters do have a tan/dark skin (Cyno, Dehya, Candace, Sethos) while the others who are from the forest area are all pale… personally as a Latin person k would’ve loved to see them with a bit more of a tan, but you can also tell that the 3 natlan characters do have a tan similar to Bennett because when they show the Enemies at the end, the two on the edge are pale af and the natlan characters have a bit more tan in them which honestly is just how it be in real life…im still holding hope but by a thread atp

Natlan is huge, even if the playable characters are similar skin tones, I'm sure they will have diverse npcs like sumeru. Also, Bran is right. They do show alot of representation through the music and I'm am looking forward to that.

with what you said at the end regarding representation i agree. the one thing they never miss on is the music. the second would be the writing to some extent. as for the characters tho, there's talk going around with leaked concept art of characters that hoyoverse's own execs and higher ups are actively interfering and meddling with what goes in and what doesn't the artists, composers and writers are doing a good job staying true to source and making things as diverse as they were natural. but the higher ups dont want that (which is true for a lot of companies, except hoyoverse's higher ups are willing to break the willing suspension of disbelief just so they could probably sell more. like damn, with Natlan covering the Ring of Fire, the Aztecs and Africa, the people at the top dont seem to mind sacrificing authenticity for visual appeal 🙄)

About the things with apep Sumeru originally was jungles and apep was vibrant green. When the nail fell sumeru was turned into a desert and apep turned into a greenish yellow color. Same with the dendro cube. Both are found in the desert but are dendro lifeforms. The rainforest we have is created by rukketevata.

10:28 I can answer your question! The desert was originally fully forest, but like in dragonspine with the nail, that happened in Sumeru and is why so much of the rainforest is sand. (I could be wrong about this since the Aranara quest had the stuff that supposedly turn the forest all dead and dry as well.) Fun fact! Nilou is apparently also a descendant of the flower goddess! Cyno, Alhaitham are also descendants of Al-Ahmar, Candace too.

This has been... interesting, but also, of note - depending on whether you consider the marking on his glove a tattoo (we don't know wince we never actually see him without it), Neuvillette also glows - particularly when he regained his full sovereignty. But also, fun note, in Fontaine - we also have an ongoing experiment - depending on how much one considers Elynas to be a dragon - but the melusines (similarly to Vishaps) are considered by Neuvi to be dragonheirs - and they... are technically integrated into Fontaine society fully and lives alongside them. (We also have that region in Fontaine where we can just peacefully wander around with the Vishaps), so... I LOVE the idea that we are steadily progressing along with a theme of possibly - destroying Teyvat's false sky/fate, but not wiping out humanity but restoring the previous world to one where they coexist with the dragon races, which... have also diversified and changed with time. (Am also thinking of Apep's little beings here... TT_TT)

If I remember correctly, with Bennett, the reason for his bad luck is because if he hails from Natlan, him leaving Natlan would cause him his bad luck. I forgot where I heard the theory, but it was awhile ago before Natlan was even announced. A lot of evidence was pulled from the manga.

Who would Neuvillete fight for? well that would be all of fontaine but most importantly the melusines and Lady furina, fontanian in general because of what the hydro archons wanted, Neuvillete may not be a human, but he has great respect for focalor after the event, I mean as far as I believe of what kind of person he is, he could easily disband fontaine, but the fact that he took over means he cared for humans, well not to mention they were hydro entities originally, and its all thanks to Focalor, the best archon XD, yeah yeah I just want more Lady Furine story/cutscenes.

You need to complete the golden slumber first (this chain starts in Aaru village) The dirge of bilqis (the Liloupar quest line) starts the next server reset after you've completed the golden slumber quest chain Edit: English genshin wiki is really helpful to navigate throughout the quests
