It is a bit inconsistent. Whole time the gimmick of the swap is that the target needs to hear the incantation being uttered, but in the morgue the target can't hear the whispered words for sure. It also seems at first that to initiate first swap one needs a bit of blood, but later it seems to be more about simply physical contact. In addition it seems that both swapped people get some sort of zombie-like immortality (unless you destroy the brain, they will survive even the worst damage).
