This beautiful talent passed away today. 3 hours ago it was announced. RIP Sinéad Ireland 🇮🇪 has lost a beautiful kind soul. You’re now with your son. You were vocal about wanting to be back with him. You are now. So sad only 56, what a tortured life you lived with such a talent and so much love 💔💔💔

@@lynneforsyth8231 it was beautiful to see the response worldwide. She was really loved. She was an activist for all wrong doings. She had a heart of gold. A huge loss to everyone. Each memorial service in Ireland since her passing has being about her being such a fantastic activist. She was so strong yet so vulnerable. RIP Sinéad

What Sinéad did to this song is like what Whitney did with 'I will always love you- Dolly Parton.. or KD Lang did with Hallelujah- Leonard Cohen these ladies epitomized those songs. Prince, Dolly Parton and Leonard Cohen knew their song were forever changed and praised these ladies openly.

But this is also a brilliant video just the black backdrop with her beautiful face, those amazing eyes and her shaved head it was very impactful.

Ireland is mourning our lost daughter💔R.I.P. Beautiful Sinéad💚 Sinéad was a force of nature - fearless but also fragile. She was shunned for speaking the truth by the 'music industry'/media who relentlessly criticised her. However she was proved right in the end....even if it took 2 decades. But the damage already took it's toll on her & her precious son's death was too much to bear. I hope she's finally at peace with her boy Shane🖤Codladh sámh☘

Prince wrote this song in 1984. Sinead O’Connor did this cover version in 1990. It went to no.1 in the UK charts and no.1 in 17 other countries. She tweaked the script slightly to make it a female version. The part she had tears in (All the flowers that you planted, Mama, in the backyard….) was when she was thinking about her mum in that moment, who died in a car crash in 1985. Three weeks before that accident, Sinead wanted to forgive her Mum for all the abuse she gave her. She had a very difficult life with her mum, and wanted to forgive her, but it was too late. All the other lyrics in this song (written by Prince) wasn’t about her life. She chose this song because she loved it herself.

@@angelskunk2206she vas in pain. Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor covered the song in 1990 on her album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, and the song quickly became a hit. The single topped the charts worldwide, including in the UK, US and Australia. "Nothing Compares 2 U" is a song written by Prince for The Family, a funk band formed to get more of his music out. The band's debut album The Family was released in 1985, but the song was not released as a single and was not widely known .

@@ellend3512 yes I know. I was 18 yrs old in 1985 so I know the song and the story. I also saw her rip the photo of the Pope in half on SNL and get herself cancelled before getting cancelled was a thing. I do remember that I was driving home from working a late shift the first time I heard this song and I was so captivated by the desperate sadness of it and the haunting beauty of her voice that I had to pull off the road to listen to it. I was in High School when Sinèad hit the whole world with this. I know everyone says this is Prince’s song. But there are certain covers - like Dave Draiman doing Simon and Garfunkel and Bad Wolves doing the Cranberries and Johnny Cash doing Trent Reznor - where the original artist basically says this song is theirs now. This is one of those. Prince gave it to her to sing. And I think he totally approved of what she did. That said - what I would not give for Sinèad to do this song now with Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee - two of this generations best female voices. Three voices of a kind…
