Aaron is so right, it is newer generation fans that are so ageist and disrespectful towards older generation artists. BoA deserves nothing but respect, she is the definition of queen of kpop, the biggest legend.

Thank you for speaking out for BoA... She is indeed the "super sunbae" and Queen of K-Pop for all her immeasurable contributions to the industry. It means a lot when insiders like yourselves speak out and set the record straight. Bless you both.

THANK YOU! New fans need to sit the eff down about who paved what because it was BoA. There is no debate, she went out there, she did it, she braved it even on film that had nothing to do with her... Let that sit a moment. So no people, do not sit there and say a thing bad about BoA.
@rage4557 ай бұрын
those last few generations and their fans are really caught up in those quick and what used to be "new" achievements...they want to be first, they want their faves to pave the way too, but they want to erase what others have done before. The fact that BoA was the first in so many things and achieved/pioneered so much, that she's definitely taking the punch.

thank you for putting respect on boa's name! these days people think it's cool and edgy to be ageist and make cruel comments on the internet. as a 2nd gen kpop fan who has been a fan of hers since witnessing her hurricane venus comeback and learning more about her since, it really makes me feel some type of way seeing people be so blatantly disrespectful. she has been in the industry for so long since such a young age and already had to go through so many hardships to get to where she is now, she is such a huge influence and trailblazer!!

I'm going to preface this long comment with an anecdote about my younger cousins born in 2002 and 2005. I like old music because of our shared grandmother, who LOVED Elvis so much my mother was named after his daughter. And my cousins were at my house a couple of years ago. I put on Elvis. And 2005 said "I don't get what the big deal about Elvis is. It's not like he's a rockstar or anything." 2002 and I both turned on her and in sync said "He's called the KING OF ROCK AND ROLL." That was the moment I realized the younger generation doesn't care about history like they should. New story time. So I got into KPop in Aug 2023 because I was bored and watched Alchemy of Souls the beginning of July (my first Kdrama, and I thought it was Chinese until I looked at the actor names and went "Oh, Korean. Okay.") Seo Yul was one of my two favorites so I looked up the actor, Minhyun. And then at the end of the July, I started watching Korean Odyssey and absolutely fell in love with Let Me Out. One of my favorite songs ever. And there was an intersection between Minhyun and Let Me Out and so I started listening to NU'EST. And I put my official kpop starting date at Aug 12, because that was the first time I listened to Face on Spotify, which was my top listen for the year (and will likely be again this year). Even before I had gone through their discography (and I still don't think I've fully listened to every song for the reason I am about to give), I was looking up who they listened to, which led me to early second and first gen groups. And I was also looking at contemporaries of NU'EST because I wanted to know how they fit into the kpop sound and timeline (I'll get to BTS eventually but there are so many others...). And the Rage I feel when I think about NU'EST for too long drove me to need an emotional support group, which is BTOB, and they led me off to find a whole lot of other groups. I'm fairly well spread knowledge-wise across the different generations (which is why I was so EXCITED when g.o.d. was announced for KCon this year and then horrified by the lack of awareness of them in comments), though fifth gen is where I'm definitely lacking and why I like ASC because it gives me an intersection between the newer groups I don't and my first group. Now, granted, I am quite a bit older than the average new kpop listener. I'm two days younger than Ren. But it doesn't make sense to me that you can listen to someone and know everything about them and not also want to know who they look up to. BoA is essentially Elvis. Many, many musical roads lead back to them and music today would not be where it is without them. I managed that in less than a year while learning Korean and while working. It disappoints me how little respect goes to the pathfinders and trailblazers and giants of industry anymore.

For reals, I was into jpop in the early 00's. BoA was how I learned about kpop, her talent was the bridge that started everything for me. Not to mention her music has been consistently good her entire career! Thank you BoA! ❤

Thank you for bringing up this issue! Since BoA uploaded the retirement story and deleted all her IG post, Jumpings (her fansclub) are going crazy and super worried about her condition. Most of Jumpings have been fans of her for many years. Me, myself, have been her fans since 2003. So please just leave her alone. She debuted long time ago, her career was on peak many years ago, younger generation may not see it, but please have some respect!!! We, Jumpings, always excited everytime she is releasing something new because basically she is not that active like before. Please dont take her away from us just because of the trashy words of yours! Most Jumpings I know live for her songs. Her songs basically our time capsule. Man, I feel so frustrated with this condition #ProtectBoA 😭😭😭

As someone who has been to the gym and a guy was watching me and I had a gut feeling but I also didn’t wanna think to much on it and then he walked up and asked me for my number …it’s like you know when someone is interested in you or is a creep in the gym ,but also don’t assume that just because someone goes next to you in a gym full of people and is working out or their are cases where guys will see a girl lifting a heavy weight and she looks like she is struggling so they look and then when she’s okay they go back to doing what they are doing but still girls will look at them like they are creeps and checking them out when they aren’t even all that to be looking at lol ….i genuinely think a lot of people think the world revolves around them and that everyone is just seeking them and whole time no one is worried about them , cause if they are you’d know for sure …its okay to record yourself and progress in the gym and so many people do it but it’s a problem when your doing it for the reason that that girl did it or I’ve seen videos of girls doing certain things in the gym and then will record peoples reactions and when you watch the video everyone is just side eyeing and walking away …like people like that ruin it for people who come to the gym and just wanna record themselves working out and showing their audience or family or friends the progress they are making like some people really just record themselves and they aren’t trying to record others but ofc it’s a public place so someone people are bound to get caught in a video but most people like viewers don’t care cause again it’s a gym , but also it’s understandable why some people feel some type of way and that’s why it’s best to go to gyms that allow you to record or private gyms where a lot of people don’t go or make yourself a home gym …it’s honestly a shame they ruin it for everyone else I saw this video of this girl who went to the gym and was recording herself working out minding her business and this guy who was never in her shot comes up and yells at her for recording even though she asked before hand was it allowed and he just kept messing with her and she was upset because they took his side and she felt race played apart too and everyone in the comment section somehow turned it on her and made her seem like the bad person for recording herself working out as she had got full permission too . Btw the news anchor was hilarious I thought she was really talking about stds lol it took me a minute to catch on

College professor here!!! Let me speak to the college problem in America because it has gone downhill. Here's why--1. The educational experience did not keep up with the sky high tuition rates because; 2. The top colleges (Harvard, Princeton, Yale) began to use their institutions as investment firms (establishing billion dollar endowments) running them like corporations and everyone followed their lead. Today's American colleges are businesses and only focus on the revenue stream coming in, which means the focus is mainly on sports and research. Definitely not on education at all except to make sure students stay in college in order to keep tuition coming in for 4+ years, which means educational standards have gone way, way down as we are evaluated on the number of students we retain and graduate. In higher ed we call this the "Walmartization of higher education." There is a really good book that tells the story called The Toxic University: Zombie Leadership, Academic Rock Stars and Neoliberal Ideology.

Btw thanks for acknowledging Boa I have friend who was influenced by 2nd and 3rd gen and they think Boa is "overrated" like she was ALONE when she break though Kpop in Jpop. ALONE... no social media, took train alone, no strong format of training system and just DID IT ALL at the age of 13! There wasn't anything before that.. like Korean artist was barely out there.. it was the world of Cpop and Jpop artist for intl fans. She breakthrough then TVXQ came along (broke records) and then the rest is history! I would say she is the first person who CRACKED the hole in the ice... for the Hallyu Wave!

It really mind-boggles me. These online peeps don't seem to realize that Sm's "boa project" to debut in Japan before any sort of translation device or emergence of translators themselves, it was a risk. Business risk. If Boa didn't succeed, why should SM try and venture even more into Japan? Other companies also probably watched Boa's journey to Japan, figure out what worked, what didn't worked, etc. To make their groups succeed too. Innovation. It's like science, cooking, etc. If Boa had failed to make an impact in Japan, it likely would have taken EVEN longer before Kpop could reach Japan > asia > western half of the world. Like, after her, TVXQ/DBSK were big, in Korea and Japan. But if people think about it, if it wasn't for the success of Boa, all those trainees would have been let go. Because SM would have been out of business. Investments aren't cheap - especially the scale they chose to go with Boa. People talk about how costly kpop mv's are. That money didn't come out of nowhere.

Before Covid, I went to a lot of concerts of Western artists and it was normal for the concert to start at least an hour late. With Kpop, the couple of times the concerts have been delayed is because the venue is disorganized and they opened the doors less than an hour before the concert started.

Going to university/college is so different in different countries… I’m from Europe and university was free and I even got a monthly stipend for living costs. I graduated with a master of engineering degree and now work with developing batteries for electric vehicles, so in my case i definitely feel my degree was necessary. And I love doing what I do since I feel like I help making the world a better place :) (and that it pays well enough for me to go on vacation in Korea and join Aaron’s MT, haha!) Also, hiking is so much fun! I usually go hiking for a few days every year, even if I prefer trails over climbing mountains. One of the most fun hikes I did we walked 80km over 5 days (first and last day were half-day hikes).

About the last news story- I completely agree with our Joel. Don't involve personal issues in the workplace. No one needs your drama in their life. But I also didn't see what she did as a means to out her husband (even though that may be what happened) because I could see her doing the same thing if there was another woman involved instead of a man. Cheating is cheating after all.

29:44 this part. I'm a freelance illustrator. Literally just graduated from uni with an art degree and everything, but I don't get work as much as I used to pre-2022. Most people kinda ignore when visual artists express their struggles with possibly being replaced with ai, without realising that they'll be replaced in their individual sectors too. Accountants replaced, architects replaced, writers replaced, many jobs will find ai alternatives in the future since it looks like the algorithms and precision only keeps evolving as time passes by. I understand the need for reduction in production cost for businesses and companies, but if we erase humanity with all our flaws, diverse mindsets, and individual complications, a time will come when our everyday life and sustainance will cease to exists alongside humanity. Skills will be lost, human expression will lose value. Maybe when something that drastic eventually happens, people who keep pushing for ai replacements will finally realize they were wrong. This all feels like a slow progression to the depiction of humanity in a disney movie called 'wall-e' I watched as a kid. Why create and sustain a world for humans, where our humanity is not appreciated

BoA, Super Junior are the most that I see who get hate for the most bizzarre reasons, when artist like them 1st and 2nd generations who paved the way for everyone, and all of us who are kpop fans should be grateful to them It's pisses me off as much as you guys 🤬 Because like you said you're doesn't have to like someone, but you're have to respect them. It's basic human being rule in my opinion Thank you for speaking out about it as someone who are from kpop world themself Proud to be fan of Korean Cowboys and NU'EST, I knew I stan the right people❤

1. Thanks for talking about BOA, I completely agree with you. I am so, so tired of all the disrespect for any idol/artist. Can we get back to ENJOYING things?? 2. About the last story, I think they are both in the wrong but the wife is even more wrong. It is wrong to cheat, absolutely, but she (in my opinion) deliberately decided to out him in a CONSERVATIVE country. That's incredibly cruel and disrespectful. Obviously I don't know much about this woman but she doesn't seem to be a great person either from the implications.

I low-key get sensitive when ppl shit on or don't know of Big Bang 😮 Like I didn't grow up on Shinhwa, H.O.T, TVXQ etc, but I was very much aware of who they were and the impact they had on K-pop and the idols that I loved. And don't get me started with the Rain hate train. Him as a Ceo, whatever, but as an artist he is truly a legend.

In my country, studies at state universities are free. But... you have to buy books, you have to support yourself, you have to live somewhere, you have to pay for public transport (there are discounts for students). Not everyone was born close to an academic center. Dormitories are much cheaper than in the USA, but their standard is quite low. Some departments (medicine) are too difficult to work at the same time. So you must have parents who will give you money to live.

Last cheating news, I think two people can be wrong at the same time. Things doesn’t have to be black and white, and this is both black. I think the woman could’ve brought it to ANYWHERE but physical workplace. Regarding the outing part, i’d say she HAVE to out his ex husband regardless if she tries to tell anyone or confide in someone about her problems. But to the workplace? Agree with Joel.

On the final news story, it is definitely wrong of the wife to out her husband at his workplace. While the guy did wrong her first, it does not give her the right to do such a thing. She could have ruined his career or even his life because of her reckless action. Also, like what Joel said, personal matters should stay within the people involved and not be brought to the workplace. Work is work, personal is personal, they should not mix together. Plus, I believe in karma so who knows one day something bad might happen to her for out-ing her husband involuntarily at his workplace.

Oh! And to answer your other question, they're all in the wrong. If he is in fact gay, tell your wife nicely. Don't EVER sneak around. It's not only douchebag behavior but it's uncalled for. There won't be as many blowup reactions like her's if you're honest. She's in the wrong because you know how society is about LGBTQ+ 70% of the time in most places. It will be hard for him to get a job, and home problems should be home problems. Because everyone is either whispering about you, or trying to console you thinking you'll blow up. And the other guy, again, had to know he was doing wrong. And he shouldn't. If you like homeboy all that much to go after married you can wait until he is not, do not place yourself where you are not allowed. If he didn't know, that's twice on the husband, so he deserves some sort of embarrassment. But not at the job. Expose him in a sneaky way that you know what he did then divorce him
