I think you will have quite a few of your fans disagree with you on the comedians portion of this segment. If you come from a community that is ridiculed, bullied, and mocked just for existing, having someone profit from making jokes at your expense even if it isn't from a place of malice isn't right.
@Geeky-Angie

While I appreciated the less scripted format of the podcast, I can't help but be disappointed after listening to the segment about comedians. I understand that freedom of expression is important and that humour is subjective, especially when it comes to controversial topics. However, it's rather fallacious to deem the jokes made by a comedian about oppressed minority groups as acceptable simply because he targets ALL types of people. Ultimately, it's up to the minority groups involved to decide whether it's offensive or not.
@carlarojas8306
@carlarojas8306 Ай бұрын
It was said it would get controversial and they would talk about any topic. If people are too sensitive, they should not listen to this podcast. They are giving their personal opinion. And they didn't say a lie, people get sensitive over every single little thing. I'm a minority and I feel not affected at all bcs jokes are jokes. It is supposed to target any group and have a laugh, if people can't take that, they were made of freaking crystal, should not watch if they get triggered.
@Geeky-Angie
@Geeky-Angie Ай бұрын
@@carlarojas8306 I'm just saying their reasoning is fallacious since it implies that comedians can get a free pass as long as they target all types of people because they are simply 'telling a joke', regardless of what they might say. I'm also a minority myself and thoroughly enjoy self-mocking dark humour pertaining to my group(s) due to its relatability, controversial or not. However, it would be a completely different story if the same jokes were delivered by someone who doesn't have first hand experience or any direct relationships to the topics in question. Which is the case with Dave Chappelle and his transphobic remarks.

...... yeah halfway into this episode I have to stop and comment.... 22:22 is actually rather insensitive of you... it's genuinely not as simple as "get your ass on the treadmill/run a mile or something". I'm all for losing weight by diet and lifestyle modification and in fact part of what I do is to create those plans, but there are people out there who have tried working out every day and eating minimally and still unable to lose that weight because of more complex issues... in which I get it I don't support relying on only ozempic to lose weight but since I've personally worked with people that have been living very healthily but still struggling with weight loss I really don't think it's fair to just generalize it like that

Hello! To clarify, I of course realize that there are some people who have complex issues involving thyroid or chemical imbalances that require additional assistance. Then it is completely appropriate to look into those methods, what I said was more or less directed at the narrative that you can take ozempic instead of a healthy lifestyle. Hope that cleared up anything that I may have seemed to generalize!

exactly and saying it like it’s something no one has ever thought of before.. like exercise is one of the obvious “solutions” to losing weight but it’s literally sometimes not the best for some people

@@koreana_joel Hi Joel, thank you for the clarification (even though it wasnt something you said lmaooo) I know that the two of you have no ill intentions and there are people that as you said, rely on Ozempic only, but coming from someone who’s about to work in the healthcare industry I implore you to not generalize

Bodyshaming on both ends is so prevalent to this day and it's not that easy for everyone to drop everything and lose/gain weight by running a mile and such. Some people have to take medication that results in weight gain (cortisol). Antidepressants for example cause weight gain and I'm speaking from personal experience. Sure losing that weight was easy for me given my age and my overall lifestyle but that's not the case for everyone. That being said, I am onboard with not using ozempic unless you have diabetes. In fact, there has been an ozempic shortage because many people are now using it for weight loss. Anyway, it's better to avoid weight talk altogether, people wouldn't be so sensitive about that topic if all body types were accepted and bodyshaming was never a thing.

Two former kpop idols with no medical training should not be weighing in on and speaking about medical issues that they have no qualifications for to understand, nor do they clearly have the funds to hire proper researchers and assess the information then discuss it. Very irresponsible.

I think one of the worst parts about comedy nowadays is the biggest, most influencial players have gotten lazy. I went to a show recently where a rather large comedian spent most of his time 1. Struggling to actually tell his jokes bc he couldn't stop distracting himself (no hecklers), 2. Joking about how old and unattractive his wife is now that she is old, and 3. Making pedophilia jokes (at some points directly to a 13 year old in the front row). Comedians are losing their craft and trying to rely on edginess to make it through their sets. They then cry and complain online when people don't like it

I never thought I would have to say this, but I am disappointed with his attitude. I thought that the time you had in the industry was going to teach you what things to say and what not to say. It breaks my heart to know that you share these thoughts knowing that they are delicate topics. I didn't know you were like that Aaron, and if you always were, then you've hidden it very well for a long time. I don't think I feel comfortable watching the content of the podcast for a while

The more they were in the industry, the more Joel and Aaron said comments... I still suffered from comments towards my body, comments that they said SHIT

I am sure KCB try to deliver whats really happening in society and if they have something to say about it, its opinion and from what i understand they said moderately... i will never forget their hardwork S1 to S3 in which they worked for 6 to 7 hours to sub and though im convenient with older format (mental health eps and finances eps living alone eps my fav 😊❤) i will support their effort to find the best format which represent their color the most and the most manageable (temporary dont add sub)..although for sure they are risking for views and comments. Last but not least, its free content 😊. Will always appreciative and constructive. See you with the next great episode KCB ❤.

Standup Comedy in the USA is yet another victim to the USA’s culture wars. As someone that “use to be” a community activist I am going to agree with you about current SJW’s. The United States culture is currently at extremes with subgroups that are so involved in their own messaging and not willing to listen, communicate and compromise with others; these extremes have infiltrated our entertainment, politics, social networks and education. The 90’s were a golden time where USA had a lot of potential as a culture, and due to a complex list of reasons, the USA went directions that has us not working for common goals and improving on ours past mistakes; more like attempting to prove our own opinions as the only correct answers, and beating down anyone that does not agree.

I love listening to the podcast on Spotify, just have one little suggestion maybe describe the video when you're playing one cuz I have no idea whats going on in the video when i was listening on Spotify lol. It might not be a popular opinion and you guys might not be reading my comment, but I think its an interesting ep. I'm not from KOR/US, I defin know more abt the US culture from the podcast. One thing I would say is maybe identifying who will be your target audience and deciding your topics will be helpful to get positive comments from listeners. Fighting cowboys!

I hear what you are saying about wokeness in the US & the divisiveness it has caused- but just remember not everyone here is buying into that narrative! Thats actually one reason we started watching so much K-dramas & Korean content in general. We really liked the writing, the 1 or 2 season format (versus endless seasons in the US shows & your favorite actors or writers have left before the end), wanted a break from the current Hollywood atmosphere that drives the story-telling in such a repetitive, politically correct manner, & a break from so much cussing - it just gets old. Don't worry, I don't expect Korean life to be like a K-drama. So a K-drama is actually how I started watching Korean Cowboys. I watched Alchemy of Souls & really liked Hwang Minhyun. Looked him up - why was he in both Nu'est and Wanna One? Confusing, but lots of youtube videos helped me figure that out. Absolutely loved Nu'est, I was so sad like an actual year after the disbandment because that's when I discovered them. So now I try to follow what each of you guys are doing individually. Found KCB & now I love watching Joel along with Aaron, too! Six degrees of separation, but no Kevin Bacon. ❤

All time amazing comedians you didn't mention--the master the great Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, Trevor Noah, Kathy Griffin (who adored Joan Rivers), John Mulaney, Ali Wong, Taylor Tomlinson, Gabriel Iglesias, Bill Maher....just to name a few. My comment on the Ozempic conversation---Opioids were also federally approved and look at the harm that resulted in. Enough said. The problem with America is that the economy is consumption based. The federal government, and state governments protect industries that are a part of the economy, whether they are healthy or not, whether they are legal or not because we don't want to go into a recession or economic depression. Industries that the US government will not do anything about....human trafficking, porn, drugs, guns.

Great episode! I heard about you guys from KPC. I feel like in the US, PC/woke culture are at an all time high that you can’t make jokes like you used to. Everyone is so scared of getting cancelled. I think that’s also why Hollywood is just sticking to reboots versus trying something new. They would rather play it safe versus taking a risk and getting cancelled. It really bothers me how people who don’t need Ozempic are using it because the people who actually need it can’t get it because of the shortages. I’ve heard cryotherapy can help you lose weight, so why don’t they try that instead? It would be cheaper, and you’re not taking something from someone who needs it. That’s my 2 cents.

Going to comment as I watch the episode. For comedians & stand-up comedy in particular, I think that any comedic bit has the potential to be enjoyed by someone and also to be insulting to someone. Everyone is going to have different viewpoints & varying thresholds about what they find funny versus offensive. I do think freedom of expression is so important. If I don't like content from a particular comedian, then I don't have to listen to them, go to their shows, or support them financially in any way. I don't think that I should tell other people they can't enjoy it or the comedian that they should not say that. Comedy, satire, political cartoons, etc. are important forms of expression and they are not meant to be agreeable to everyone. It would be very boring if everyone thought alike.

I saw the same video Aaron saw and it's true. Mexicans didn't care like US ppl cared like it was their culture. It was so woke from US ppl to get so offended bcs a guy was wearing a mustache and a Mexican hat, while Mexicans were cool about it xD It's distinctive from Mexicans. Like people think all Latin America speaks the same, dances, it's super colorful and it's a Mexican basically. I find it ignorant, but I don't get too sensitive over it, bcs probably they had a poor education or their education was US/Europe oriented? Like the time people had some slangs for Pedro Pascal and they were all Mexican and not Chilean like they all think we are all Mexicans and speak the same Spanish. Maybe it's ignorant, but they didn't grow up understanding Latin America is not a single country. Do I care too much? No. Those who wanna learn, wanna learn. I remember the time they asked Aaron what was the Chilean flag and he chose the Puerto Rican while Ren chose the right one. xD I still love Aaron. He broke my heart tho. Still funny.

Well, the thing about aeroplanes is not just about money, it is also about physics. And the law of physics can't be changed. Aeroplanes are projected to carry a maximum passengers weight, and you cannot go past that without endangering all the people's lives in that aeroplane. The smallest change in an aircraft can result in a big disaster.

I am a medical professional. Let me tell you right now how positively wrong and uninformed you are about obesity, weight loss, ozempic and discrimination. it's frankly quite disgusting how you two who have no medical training are speaking. Even people who have been in the medical profession for decades are only now starting to understand the very basics of why people are overweight, why they have diabetes, why some are genetically predisposed to gain weight and why once one is fat, it is so hard for these people to keep it off, very much related to cellular memory. People are not obese or overweight because they don't walk enough or only because they eat too much (this is the case in a handful of healthy people). The whole assumption that overweight people are lazy, have no control and don't deserve to be treated fairly by any industry is so outdated and ignorant to be frank. People are not overweight because they only have thyroid issues. People are overweight because their genes were actually better adapted for nomadic society where people needed to store fat. Food safety standards, particularly in the US, completely fail to regulate ingredients that raise blood sugars and a culture of sugar substitutes that are no better at preventing insulin spikes impairing the long-term functioning of the digestive system and particularly the pancreas' role in releasing insulin. This is what ozempic is addressing and that is why it works for people who are not only diabetic but also need to lower their body mass. I had a patient who was an Olympic level swimmer, think about that for a second, how many years of training and good nutrition went into that. She started to gain weight after she stopped competing. She was still swimming every day, more than enough to twice burn every calorie she put into her body yet she kept putting on kilos, particularly on her upper body and mid-section. She was not eating exorbant amounts of food or taking too many sugars. But she had fatty liver and her body was storing fat because she was genetically predisposed. Exercise and calories in and out is a myth for most people who are overweight or obese long-term. There is a complex metabolic impairment in how their genes are expressing themselves. Here was this beautiful young woman, a picture of health otherwise, who was now overweight through no fault of her own. Obesity is not a lifestyle choice. It is a combination of genetics and poor government regulations for health treatment and healthy affordable food alternatives. So i suggest you not speak about things you do not understand. Simply saying, go walk is insulting to those who suffer from metabolic diseases like obesity and to all the medical researchers and professionals who try to help them navigate very difficult conditions, not to mention all of the psychological issues and co-morbidities that come with these conditions. And no, we don't charge overweight people extra on flights, just as we don't charge taller people, or women with larger breasts or people with more muscle mass or people who snore or people with loud children because that is outright discrimination and in most civilized societies, we believe people should be treated equal under the law and the aviation industry still comes under the laws of various human rights bills and constitutions around the world that guarantee equal treatment. Believe, planes are designed to balance themselves out. You both don't know much about the aviation industry because you seemed to be so frightened about automated cars on the roads but completely don't acknowledge how planes are flying computers these days, pilots fly all of 15 to 20 minutes on most flights and that includes preparation for take-off and landings. Do your research or go back to talking about kpop because you shouldn't be taking on serious issues unless you're willing to do the work.
