I had an autoimmune flare up when going from keto to carnivore-ish. Since I put pepper on my meat I was eating a lot more pepper. It was the pepper that caused the flare up, not the extra meat or less plants. Dumped the pepper and the flare up immediately turned around. I'd bet a lot it's a plant she was still eating that caused that skin issue, not the meat.

For who wants to try a different approach. I had some inflamed skin as well with a keto diet. (+ intermittent fasting which may also be a factor) The treatment that I unintentionally found out was: Nivea cream. The original, in a tin round blue box. Not the newer products, but the original. Put that on the inflamed skin twice a day and the problem is gone within a week. If anyone decides to try this, please comment on this to let me know if it worked for them as well.

Why wont anybody including doctors bring up the fact that since our body's are running on ketones that every blood marker must be reexamined. All the healthy blood markers were based using high carb diets. For example we know that our vit c will look horribly low on low carb but that low vit is actually perfectly healthy on low carb. Why are we using the old standards of blood markers when everything has changed?

In my opinion, and from experience, the want for variety is basically just that, it is a want, and this is fostered through people having the wrong beliefs of what a proper human diet is, or having difficulty in shifting that mindset. Generally, I believe that if a certain food is causing you issues, then you should avoid it, you may be able to take in small amounts of it in the future once you have recovered, as the issues caused by the food previously may have been built up over a long period of time. In short, re-consumption of foods that may have caused you issues in the past may be fine in the beginning, but over time I believe it will bring back the same issues again as the small build ups are not apparent in the beginning.

What you need to do is to stop freakin' OBSESSING. It's like after every morsel you put in your mouth you have to examine every measurable response. Humans have evolved over millions of years without all of the frantic scrutiny. Just live your life. We're not that fragile. Stay active, hydrate, get sleep, eat a varied diet, keep the sugar to a minumum, and do some intermittent fasting. @@JanJazT Thanks for the clarification. I’m more concerned with new people being misled into believing there is a variant of the Keto Carnivore diet (lifestyle). Keto Carnivore is 5 grams or less of carbohydrates. Based on a study, 20 grams of carbohydrates was too much for some people to get into ketosis. If a person is working hard to cure a serious disease they need to know that they might not see results consuming 20 grams of carbohydrates. A study suggests 5 grams or less of carbohydrates captures most of the population ability to get into therapeutic ketosis.

@@jksinorbit That's the first I've heard that carbs increase one's need for Vit.C over meat alone. Do you have a reference/link to this subject? I'm a retired biochemist, and I'm trying to understand metabolic syndrome and diabetes in light of new research on ketogenic diets - of which 'carnivore' is a subset. As you said, there are small amounts of C in meat. Do you cook/smoke the meat? Is it processed meat, like sausage/bacon? These processes destroys what little Vit.C there is. And there are other minerals besides pure salt (NaCl) that one needs to be healthy. I get essential nutrients and minerals from eating fresh whole fruit and veggies. These are mostly the only carbs that I eat. My diet is rich in meat/eggs/cheese - everything freshly prepared. I do intermittent fasting to burn off the carbs, and shift into ketosis (fat burning). I'm 76, and still in good health except for osteoarthritis, which runs in my family. I've been on this diet for over a year, and it's made a difference in the way I feel (energy levels).

Maybe the rash were the last cry for help of bacteria or fungus that there are no carbs anymore. "Luckily" carbs went back in the menu and the bacteria or fungi were happy again and went underground. The more carbs, the more palmitic acid (that is the really bad saturated fat) becomes, the body makes saturated fat from the carbs, but it makes the dangerous version. Better eat the healthy saturated fats. They always say saturated fat is bad or good. Acetic acid is good, but also saturated. There are big differences between every saturated acid.Propionic acid is bad for the brain cells for example. Butyric acid is good again, so we went from C2 to C4 and seeing already big differences.
