I know a black couple. She is a doctor and he is a blue collar worker. They got married and he worked his job while she went to school. They have been married for over twenty years now. He is a hard working brother and the doctor wife respects him as the leader of his family. And they just built their retirement home. I will say this at the outset. I am almost 70. But I married my wife when I was 19 and she was 18. We just passed our 50th Anniversary. There was never a ME on our relationship. We built each other up! We braced each other up! We beat back life together for both of us! When we got married it was about doing things TOGETHER. That was why people got married, to work together. There was no concept where I remember seeing some man who gave up HIS life to make sure that his woman had all SHE WANTED at his own expense! Where the hell is the upside for HIM in that? What is in it for HIM? Why should it EVER be all about just ONE of you? These women are not looking for a spouse they are for a SERVANT and a BANK ACCOUNT. How's that working for them?

Where did i say or even imply that there was anything wrong with women wanting a high earning man, my main point was that that monetary value carries so much weight with black women, that they have gone to the resort of trashing us. Just because a man or woman does not have a college degree, that does not make them uneducated. A person can also be self-educated. Plus, we have a lot of educated fools out here with a Ph.D., M.D, J.D., M.A. M.S., etc. behind their names, who lack common sense intelligence to make smart decisions in their personal lives. I am a college-educated Black woman, and my mother who did not graduate from college, has so much knowledge about life and other things that she continues to educate me about life issues.

Honestly, I am not looking for someone with a degree. I have a Doctorate, however, I do not want someone to pay my bills etc, I am wanting and praying for a husband, who has a good sense of humor, good charachter, we match values etc. Money , and material things cannot make things last. I have watched many of my male friends choose women who fit the status quo, and have nothing to offer. Cannot cook, hold a convo, be insightful. I will never, EVER get married again. After my divorce and after the initial hump of divorce, I lost 118 lbs and got in the best shape of my life, I cleaned up ALL of my debt, I'm able to save and invest, I work remote and I spend time to myself wherever I please. He had his 1st kiss in 1st grade so was used to females chasingThey have both traveled alot but travel now together. Many of the women that I have met here in my "new" hometown of Houston are told within the first 5 minutes, that I am Certified Dangerous... and it isn't terribly long before they discover that I will NOT play the chase game and I text if and when it's too noisy to make a phone call. I totally agreed when I heard this young black woman said , she doing think being a good man is enough. I will say the same being a good man or good woman is not enough. Maybe being the perfect men or women yes but not good. You can be good enough as a man or woman to be friend with, just to casually dating, just as a working partner, colleague, as a business partner. But for long-term relationships, marriages, family and kids , you as a man or woman needs to be well above good . There is a reason why you have 3 stages fair, good, best or even a forth very best. You have to have so many different arrows to your bows, so many qualities , and be so understanding and flexible to run a successful relationships, marriage with kids. Good or good enough can just takes you that far, until everything falls apart.

I think women get it confused when they hear the word "Submissive". That simply means falling back and letting the man lead (which is less stressful). Who in their right mind wouldn't want someone else to lead through the stress of life (stress causes early death)? It is the same as going to work. You don't argue with your boss/lead. After being in the job market for a while, I returned to college while continuing to work. I met a business woman and we had a hot relationship that could possibly lead to marriage. A year before I was to graduate, she destroyed the relationship. I did eventually meet a young lady, that was a recent graduate and we started a relationship, marriage and family.
