It's no surprise one would become exhausted from having to find ways to describe her technical mastery of her voice. What can you say when when every note she sings is presented as impeccable as one could. When you add in the complex and demanding composition, one can't help but admit to her phenomenal vocal gift. Yet, when Sohyang stands behind a microphone, all her immense vocal skills melt away from my consciousness, only the only thing that remains for me is how she radiates the emotional conviction from the stage as she talks to my own, personal inner thoughts. She doesn't sing at or to me, but with and for me. In this, I find no parallel in my existence of 60 some years. As for the words she uttered during her a cappella section, it means something like this: "When I am lonely, who will comfort me? It's you (or everyone)." I concur with you. I am not a musical expert, but I have listened to music for decades and have always loved the female voice the most. So Hyang is the best vocal master I have come across on that side. There are so many great ones past and present, but she just has a few things extra, both technically and in her conveyance. BTW, she speaks several languages. I think French and English and one or two more languages are within her domain. I have seen an interview where she said sometimes she feels less confident with some of the nuances of English. But when she does speak it, it seems pretty solid. I think this song remains a master class of technique, emotion, and endurance against any by any others. She says it was her hardest performance. In another interview she told the interviewer all singers have one secret. The interviewer was on the edge of his seat to hear that shared secret. She smiled and said, 'Don't get tired!' It was typical of her playful nature, and, of course it is truly a universal concern amongst singers. It amazes me she can still sing today, at 46, like she always has, after multiple bouts with pneumonia. Thanks once again for the great reaction! You should check out her jazz standard cover 'Misty' from the Begin Again Concert. No chesty belting, no ultra sonic highs, just an unmatched purity and dexterity of voice.

Carl, Sohyang is fluent in three languages; Korean, English, and French. She reads Greek. Her accent sounds American because she learned English watching the Disney Channel as a child. She has a background in pure Gospel Music. She is a musical genius. She does ALL of her own arrangements. Working with a small team, she does the musical arrangements for voice, chorus, and orchestra. She is NOT singing. Her voice is a God-given musical instrument similar to a violin and she has developed virtuoso skills in playing it. Advice; stop struggling to explain her and enjoy the blessing. When you ask for information, answers are very important, as it equips you to do your job as an expert reactor. The more you learn of her, the more endearing Sohyang becomes. She IS a genius. And her voice IS a gift. You are an expert - find a still portrait of her with her head back and chin up and study her mouth, jaw, throat - her vocal instrument. It is constructed in a slightly unusual way that makes it more of an instrument than a voice. She discovered that as a child singing in church and has perfected it's beauty. As you watch some of her very recent performances, you will discover, to your dismay, that she sings more perfectly at 45 then she did at 35. But enough. Cheers.

I don't really even know what to say when I hear Sohyang sing. I've never heard her equal, ever. I have never even heard anyone _like_ Sohyang. I think when she was recovering from her cancer surgery at age 20 and decided with determination that she was going to dedicate her life to singing for the dispossessed and needy, that God took notice of that and was so pleased He added extra musical and singing ability to her. (That is my personal explanation because there is no one else who could have given her such ability.) Like where did this woman come from? We often joke that she is an alien from outer space somewhere. But her abilities are so far above anything we have ever heard, we enter into a mental vacuum and grope around with no reference points. It is as if we are blinded by her _absolute mastery_ of all the vocal skills a human is capable of--and way beyond that as well. Anyway, Sohyang is simply dumbfounding and that is all there is to it. 🤷‍♂💖💖💖

Carl, this is most unfortunate. English Subtitles are available for "Everyone". I included a Link in a Comment and KZbin has deleted it. I have what I think for you, with your interest in details, is a lifechanging Tip. It is as follows: Whenever you have a Sohyang video up for a reaction, STOP. Type or paste the exact title of the video into the YT Search Bar and type 'English Subtitles' into the Bar after the title. Hit Enter. If available, a version with the English lyrics will be displayed among the responses. I have two Sohyang performances I recommend for you to test this procedure: "Hug Me" and "Where Are You". The second one has a horrible version with interviews on the front and an overlay on top of the most thrilling moment in the song. Avoid it. If you have a problem with any of this, I am here. There are those who would be insulted, in spite of the fact that they expressed a wish for the Subtitles. They are available for many foreign-language performances e.g. Lara Fabian. I watch them as they express disappointment, having to settle for the video when there is a way to find them. In any case, you are very welcome. Cheers.

If you had seen all the lyrics I’m not sure you could’ve gotten through the entire video. You should watch it again on your own with the lyrics & it will be a completely different experience. I only have 1 criticism & that is I understand you are doing reaction & analyses & I really enjoy what you have to say but I have sensed a change in the way you deliver your content, which is that you seem to be stopping the video’s more often & in my case I am already very familiar with the performances that you are reviewing & it’s spoiling it somewhat by the number of pauses but I assume that there are people watching your channel that may be seeing any particular performance for the first time & I worry that having too many pauses just becomes a series of musical clips & the feeling of the song as a whole is lost. I know people have the choice to follow the link & watch the original but it’s like arriving at a party when it’s nearly over😂 I am trying to give you constructive criticism as I really like to hear what you have to say & how you explain about what is happening as you obviously have far more knowledge on this subject than most. If I use your Sohyang reactions to make my point. Your first reaction, ‘bridge over troubled water’ I think was perfect, there were longer periods between pauses & then you went back to replay a certain part after explaining what was goin on. I asked some of my friends & they said they preferred watching longer clips between comments & didn’t mind going back & seeing a certain part again. I hope my comments help & I will still watch your channel as I enjoy what you have to say but I just think pausing too often does a disservice to the song & obviously the performance as a whole. I think that although I’ve felt like this for a while now I suppose doing a Sohyang performance today actually pushed me in to letting you know because if anyone’s performance are about the ‘feel’ or the ‘experience’ then it is Sohyang. Please try and space your pauses just check the length of each performance and plan an even spread,it's pointless to stop to say you are speechless.

@@TheWordSmith365 and I understand mostly but as someone who understands music as you do you can tell when a song is building towards something all I would appreciate is you trying to time it a little better that's all.i do enjoy what you do and don't mean to offend you but other reactors manage just fine with Sohyang without getting blocked,but at the end of the day it is your channel and your choice how you present it and I totally respect that,my. comment was meant as constructive criticism only and not personal.
